People love the idea of being counterculture so when they see Superman, they immediately label him as "the establishment" and turn on him to feel "cool" and "edgy". The problem is that this has gone on so long that it's lost all substance. Evil Superman is now the norm. Seeing a story treat Superman faithfully and positively as a character is now a novel experience because "Superman=boring/evil" is so deeply ingrained in the public consciousness.
Why not have both good and evil superman exist simultaneously. Instead of having just one interpretation over the other. Have both with both having there own respected fanbase. Either side not needing to interfere or compete with each other. It can be the best of both worlds. Offering compelling stories and characters on both sides. Fans of one or the other or even both can get what they want.
Snyder and Nolan trying to rewrite superman to be edgy (never mind the Injustice game) because “Boy Scouts don’t sell” is kind of debunked by how popular Steve Rogers is in both comics and the MCU.
However, a thing people need to remember is that really…most of the Superman “copycats” are only similar cause of the powers (maybe looks). Otherwise, there completely different characters who aren’t meant to represent Superman. Ofc there’s the different Superman versions and all but you know what I’m saying.

The Boondocks Metalocalypse Squidbillies Moral Orel Robot Chicken American Dad and MTV's Beavis and Butt Head I went full circle In the genre completely and The Simpsons seems like The Michael Jackson of Adult Animation a elderstatesman who opened the doors for everyone else
Dude i love a lot of the points you brought up Snyders superman was all about Earning his Hope through overconing uncertany, instead of him being "Edgy". We had to see the journey he had to go through before becoming the Golden Boy and i think thats way more inspirational than him starting that way.
Would love to hear you talk about the downfall of Boba fett by Disney and how cool it could have been from the comics. You’ve got a great way of explaining things and making it funny. Love you pookie😘
I agree with most of everything you said, but I do think leaning TOO hard into the “boy scout” direction isn’t good either. I really hate the “my adventures” depiction of him, he’s way too much of a dork. Superman is a mans man, he’s smart, confident, compassionate, and strong. He’s the depiction of a “real American” that you’d see from the 70s. I think a healthy balance is very important. Like in the animated series (LJ, LJU etc) all star superman, Superman vs the regime, and Superman Batman public enemies for example.
A lot of people don't like Superman because they feel he's too much of a goody goody. People prefer edgy and dark anti-heroes these days over the traditional do-gooder superhero types. Also some people think he's overpowered and therefore is boring because he can't be beaten or whatever.
I think the problem is the producers always try to Adabt as much as possible of his power on screen than his personality/character (And Supermans' got like x-ray, Lazer, cold breath, super hearing etc. TOO MUCH COOL STUFF) most heroes on screen earn respect when they struggle, get thrown n spat on n still overcome the obstacles n stand on their morals, kinda why ppl like their og (no rip-off) Batman n Spiderman, they bleed, their costumes get damaged after fights, they don't have much super powers but work with what they can. Invincible is kind of what Superman should most likely be written on screen, just a tremendously Strong guy who doesn't have much up his sleeves except his super strength (not too tremendous) n flying abilities a guy who pisses villains off because he ain't doing much but refusing too die. Then as the story progress we get to see his powers grow n attain new tricks too." Emphasis of his powers should be represented by his characters growth"
I like the video top tier. Do you think Blue Marvel is a villain? Should he be considered a copycat. Kevin G said I created him to be able sit at the table not be a clone. Great video bro Superman is slept on
The New 52 Superman/Injustice Superman is just a part of the whole problem of when DC Comics back when the New 52 was a thing. It seems that mostly every DC superhero comic was mostly dark and edgy, filled with shoe horned religious symbolisms and story arcs filled with dread and hopelessness. Super Heroes are supposed to inspire hope and being something people can look up to, not sulk about how dangerous their powers are and how being a super hero is a never ending tragedy. Nobody in these comics ever cracks a smile or tell a joke, they just do nothing but angst all of the time and act like total buzz kills to everyone around them. And don’t get me started on Super Man x Wonder Woman. Just because they have similar powers, doesn’t mean they should be together. I’m only familiar with Super Man x Lois because of Super Man the Animated Series, and it was because of that show, I see Super Man as the Symbol of Hope. At least shows like Harley Quinn and Kite Man are more fun to watch is because they’re both adult comedies doesn’t take themselves too seriously or kill of any characters just for shock value. Plus both of those shows have a lot of character development and even though both shows have a lot of dysfunctional relationships, they’re able to patch them up or just move on like and find a new lover.
I like your videos btw. But i gotta disagree with most of what you said tbh. Man of steel is a straight banger, and it was his first time ever in real combat so he didnt know how to properly navigate the situation. So i personally dont think its a bad portrayal of the character. I wish we had gotten to see him grow and become the boy scout type superman in a man of steel 2. So i agree with you that id still like to see a more happy version of the character. But what we got i personally dont think was bad. Just the whole DCEU was mishandled in general. I also think the reason he isnt as popular is because he is actually under utilized. Hes had 1 solo movie in the past 20 years almost. So we really havent had much time with superman solo on the big screen. Hes been neglected for batman and joker.
i love the concept of "developing" from edgy superman to our boy STARMAN we all know. So it could be work and cavill's superman could be great but... he met REALLY wrong guy *cough* zack *cough* snyder *cough*
I don't like how some of them are called copycats when they aren't granted some are direct answers to Superman but not all. I want to know what you considers a character a copy cat of another charter?
The problem I have with Superman is that in the media I've seen he's just felt flat to me as a character. I want to like him, I really do but I don't see him struggle or battle with morals realistically. I don't see him have problems with Lois or concealing his identity BECAUSE HOW CAN NO ONE SEE HE JUST HAS GLASSES! please give me at least an ability he has that makes that make sense I struggle with liking him kind of like how I struggled liking Captain America at 1st. But what makes Captain America better for me recently is that in the MCU at least they made his story compelling and his struggle with his love interest interesting and original. So when you finally saw him get with her in Avengers Endgame you actually smiled rather than cringed. I need that treatment with Superman. Somebody please suggest some kind of media where he's entertaining or has a good story! 🙏

In other words. Not question the status quo. And I wonder why DC superheroes have been stagnant for the last thirty years? Superman needs a serious makeover, back from scratch, erase his "human" persona, the whole point of the "evil" Supermen is to question the people in power, that why they are so popular, because there is no way that someone with so much power not be corrupted by it, and seeing the rise of manga and anime, people want that Superman actually fight and not be a brainless gorilla throwing punches. Are you not tired of the same stories repeating over and over again in DC and Marvel? Even when they reboot their universe, is the basic same story with a minor twicks, that why both universes had become stagnant, they need to a revolutionary change, change the status quo entirely, and not stick to the same stories and the same pairings over and over again.

L take. Superman has always been giga boring and unimaginitive to me. He is so OP that he either one shots or the villan gets some kryptonite. Him being the first superhero isnt a positive it is a negative almost all of these issues stem from that. The genre was not yet discovered they didnt know what works or how to properly balance superheros. It has nothing to do with oversaturation an actually fundamentally good char will not budge from that at all. Your Batgoat example is proof of that. Supes' powerset simply makes a better villian because everyone likes the underdog and wants to see the all-powerfull flawless demigod to fall. Which is also why the Batgoat is so beloved. (Btw. Adult me: Superman has become my favorite hero, help me in dark times and inspired me to make my own Superman ( not like those evil ones)
Same here. While I liked him growing , he wasn’t my number one or two like Batman or the flash but after I turned 18. Life got harder etc Superman rlly helped me which now I can say that he’s my number 1
People cant relate to superman, because he is just a good guy.
He is a normal guy, he likes to sleep, eat, he falls in love then gets his heartbroken, then falls in love again, and he works a normal job. How do you get more relatable than being a normal guys.

Thanks for acknowledging The Question.
Spiderman, superman and Batman are the Trinity
You wanna AWESOME depiction of Superman, watch "My Adventures with Superman".
I Kinda Have a Similar Situation Myself See I've The Simpsons since like '93 when I still In the Crib but and watched non-stop for 3 decades even with the Damn Mouse owning them and the Fox Adult Animation library as a whole but here's the thing I need variety and Power Rangers, Digimon, and the 1990's Cartoon Network lineup Isn't enough I love Johnny Bravo Dexter's Lab PPG and Ed Edd N' Eddy but they're not taking on Homer Simpson anytime soon (same applies to Nickelodeon to be Fair) that's why I'm glad Adult Swim came along and just changed the game with Home Movies Harvey Birdman Sealab 2021 The Brak Show Space Ghost Coast To Coast Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Cowboy Bebop they'd later acquire Family Guy and Futurama scraps from 20th Century Fox that got pushed aside for King Of The Hill another show I discovered In Syndication In 2002 now the these show made their Name at Adult Swim more were sure to come like South Park on Comedy Central Venture Bros.

THATS WHAT IM SAYN
Yeah i got their intention but the result was … not good
@@liar2436better execution to me has to be Smallville's interpretation.
I glad I'm not the only one that like the action scenes in Man of Steel.
There needs to be a scene in the DCU where superman fights an evil superman from another universe in a subtle way of destroying how people view him
Bruh what you said for Superman is literally the same case for Nightwing, Green Arrow and a few other characters that don't get enough representation.
My favorite version of Clark is the DCAU version
A lot of people don't like Superman because they feel he's too much of a goody goody. People prefer edgy and dark anti-heroes these days over the traditional do-gooder superhero types. Also some people think he's overpowered and therefore is boring because he can't be beaten or whatever.
“Goody goody” Yeah it’s called being a hero.
I swear to God no-one hating Snyder Clark has actually watched the movies without bias

THIS IS BRAZIL BOYYY
2:01-2:04 what song was that?; also great video
The best I can say for sure is that it's a song from fly leaf
So it could be work and cavill's superman could be great but... he met REALLY wrong guy
*cough* zack *cough* snyder *cough*
I don't like how some of them are called copycats when they aren't granted some are direct answers to Superman but not all. I want to know what you considers a character a copy cat of another charter?
Then how do you feel about my adventures with Superman?
The problem I have with Superman is that in the media I've seen he's just felt flat to me as a character.
I want to like him, I really do but I don't see him struggle or battle with morals realistically.
I don't see him have problems with Lois or concealing his identity BECAUSE HOW CAN NO ONE SEE HE JUST HAS GLASSES!
please give me at least an ability he has that makes that make sense
I struggle with liking him kind of like how I struggled liking Captain America at 1st.

I think people don't understand the point of the Snyderverse superman, it's not about superman being edgy. It's about him adjusting and developing his heroism. The intention was for him to struggle but eventually become the starman that we all know. That was in the script of the "future" justice league movies. And batfleck only caught flames because he killed and yet superman redeemed his beliefs in Humanity by sacrificing himself. I know someone will ,,troll" me but I don't care I stand with what I said

2. You better watch your mouth! Speak of Ikaris with some respect.
Honestly I watch videos like these to try and understand why people like Superman as a character. I don't think I'll ever understand it, he sucks, but I'm trying 🤷♂️
I think what people don't understand about "Evil Superman" is that he's not actually evil
Injustice superman does believe he's protecting the planet when he's taking people's freedom
Snyderverse superman is actually not evil, he was just unlucky and inexperienced with Zod and Luthor and he never claimed to be a ruler
It's insane that people forget that it's how Batman pictured him
As for his copycats
I do agree
No it is crap writing that Superman easily becomes evil if Lois Lane dies which both Injustice and Snyderverse do
Batman is more popular
Though
I think the audience is just maturing away from the goodie two shoes god like being. I mean look around u, in real life every powerful man is corrupted in some way

@@curse9816 its that its used way worse than any other hero, for superman is basically a god, and other heros are just dudes with powers or sometimes no powers and that superman is just so sterile and bland with his emotions

I don't have anything against Superman per say but it always feels like the villain can't be defeated and then Superman comes and destroys them in 4 Seconds. That is cool once or twice but after that it feels lazy
(Btw. I recently discovered the chanell great videos, keep em comin.)
He doesn’t one shot villians and you obviously need to pick up a Superman comic because it’s not the end all be all to Superman
