Weiss hasn’t even interacted with Adam once, when it would be far more interesting than Yang interacting with him. Hell, it would have made the Haven fight slightly more interesting. Meeting him would force Weiss to face the worst of what her family had created, all the suffering Adam caused in revenge from his pain at the hands of her family’s company. Then she could prove that she was no longer held back by her family, and Blake standing beside her and defending her as a friend would be one hell of a show of defiance, basically saying “I’m ready to forgive. That’s why I’m different from you.” But noooooo. Adam doesn’t care about the daughter of the architect of his suffering. He doesn’t care about a girl he may as well see as the spawn of the goddamn devil and is also chummy with Blake. Yeah, Blake. He’s just a toxic ex-boyfriend, right guys? He’s just a no-good abusive misogynist, RIGHT GUYS?! Also: If the Vytal Tournament was so observed worldwide, how come nobody in the White Fang or Menagerie ever makes a single fleeting comment about BLAKE, a FAUNUS, being on the SAME TEAM as a SCHNEE? I’ve been saying for years that Weiss should have been Adam’s focus. The SDC basically enslaved Faunus and BRANDED his damn face. The plan to hold Weiss ransom in exchange for the Faunus’ freedom, only to k*ll her anyway, would have been more consistent with his character. If Adam absolutely had to stalk Blake to further the plot, make it revenge motivated. Blake was a “traitor” to the cause, and befriended a Schnee, of all people. He wants Blake to pay. Not because he’s a psycho ex, but because the student he nurtured “abandoned” the Faunus. But no, shipping was more important 🙄

My problem with Weiss is baest summed up by what Twiins Ink said (I recommend watching her): "Weiss is constantly overcoming some character flaw, and now she kind of has nothing to do." Weiss is pretty much perfect now. There's no room to grow. She doesn't even have much of her sassy personality these days, either. She's just "nice". And now that they did away with her main antagonist, her father (in a very lackluster way), she really has nothing to do. She's about to become as irrelevant as Blake.

She also leaves her sister very injured on the floor to take off with her friends. Penny goes with, so Winter literally had no one to protect her. Just saying if it were me, no force of Earth could make me leave my sister in a situation like that, even if I would be detained once help arrived.

I think a good way to add more conflict to it is if Weiss tried to approach Winter and Winter just draws her sword and points it at Weiss in a sort of defensive way and then Winter says "I won't tell you twice" or "I suggest you listen to your big sister" or something like that. The fact that Weiss doesn't even care for her own brother is pretty sad. She grew up in a domestic toxic house hold. Winter left for the military, Weiss left for Beacon. Of course why else Whitley resent his sisters who left him isolated with an alcoholic mother and businessman father that moulded him. Mr Schnee coming from a business stand point tolerated the faunus, and has one working for him in V7 as we seen. Remembered in V1 that she stated her family and friends were killed by the White Fang? How he would be so furious that it made her upbringing hard on her. None of it brought up again. Weiss not using her glyph utility is saddening. She can time dilate, uses variety of dust, binding, launching herself/friends, a fencer with elegant poised and can dodge like a pro with her flexibility. Nope. She no longer that anymore. She just kept relying on her summons. It goes the same for Winter when she fought Cinder.
I agree on everything but Cinder is way too strong for just "glyphes" if you're a Schnee and you're fighting a maiden I recomend you to use both Glyphes and Summons.
Well if we are being fair Weiss specifically said “you never liked winter...you never liked me” so she really didn’t have a relationship with her brother thus she couldn’t tell how he felt. Even in pictures only the woman of the family were unhappy. Weiss more than likely thought that whitley enjoyed being there.

They sign up themselves in order to enlist in the military so they can be given orders to help others (Though Im aware that no military forces are fully good) Winter signed up for this, she is given a huge responsibility that can truely help Atlas out, this is the textbook definition of what most soldiers WISH they were allowed to do.

Gary Taylor Qrow gets beaten around frequently despite being an absolute beast in his fight against Winter, he was poisoned when he got stung by Tyrian, making him useless for the rest of Volume 4, he got slapped around by Hazel, did nothing to stop Raven from going down in the vault with Cinder and Vernal despite being the oldest one there and is drunk off his butt for most of Volume 6 while being made absolutely stupid in Volume 7’s climax. Qrow certainly represents the Elite.
No, as I see it, Weiss didn't say she wanted to go back to Atlas alone because the writers suck at writing the girls when they're apart. As much as possible, they want the girls to stick together, even if it meant showing some ridiculous situations where splitting up momentarily would have been the best choice. I think that's what they themselves said back in Volume 4 or 5

I miss early RWBY; all the interactions felt so real and were funny most of the time. When a character talks you could sense their personality. Now everything just feels so forced and unmotivating. Every happy interaction it just feels so cringe. It’s just the tone of the new volumes. It feels so out of place. Idk what I’m saying but 😐
It is odd how Yang had more apprehension over lying to Ironwood than Weiss did to her sister, now that you bring it up. I mean it's in line with Yang's character ("no more lies"), but weird for Weiss. Also the joke about RTX was good.
It honestly sucks how much they've forgotten/not used concerning Weiss' abilities. Like you pointed out, the volume 6 finale battle shows her mastery over dust is great enough that she could've blocked the Grimm from entering Mantle. That and her time dilation would allow the rest of the team to get hits in quicker and maybe even help RWBY in training to be faster, learning what that kind of speed feels like. She really should've been a major focus compared to what she got for this volume. Hopefully things get better for the rest of the Atlas arc, but that might just be wishful thinking.
This is honestly why I not a fan of Summoning. It was cool when it was introduced as a metaphor of her independence but it feels like it came at the loss of her other abilities. She was so much more versatile fighter, but summoning just takes that away.
@@CrimsonColbat I definitely agree. A good example of that was in S5 against Vernal, she kept trying to summon instead of using dust, or maybe slowing her down so she could catch her breath. The thought came into my mind about her time dilation ability. If she could freeze/slowdown an object in place, she could trap an enemy and fire off multiple projectiles of ice at once. Don't remember if she's done something similar before, but it seemed cool in my mind.
Remember her fighting style? When she used her sword in combat? Dancing like a ballerina implementing sword fighting/fencing? Yep, I forgot to. Cause all we got in Volume 5 was clumsy glyph use and stupid ass summoning and projectiles only.

Volume 7 should’ve been Weiss’s arc but it was really just Robyn’s arc. Ever since she showed up the focus has been on her and her campaign and that really just pissed me off. Also since you’ve done vids on the members of team RWBY, I’m curious to see your opinions on how team JNR was handled this volume. I was pretty disappointed on how Jaune was just there in the background even though he has a crucial semblance and has had all that growth to make him a better leader. Was also disappointed that they had Nora rant about Mantle, possibly hinting at something but then forgetting about it, and how they keep showing something going on with Ren but again, they do nothing with it. @@zusfrankenstein8561 That's what bugs me the most about RWBY's writing. There's no self-awareness in their characters, no introspection. We're given bad guys to root against and good guys to root for, without the show ever bringing up why we should feel about them like that. For example, Ironwood's plan is wrong in their current situation, and yes, his descent into desperation and paranoia that led to him making that decision was well-done. What irks me is how Team RWBY immediately objects to the plan and acts against it, without ever considering why he came to that decision or whether he might be right and they might be wrong. There's no thought to the consequence that by fighting, Team RWBY might wipe out an entire Kingdom's worth of people. There's no hesitation, in neither the characters or the shows tone. It's just BOOM: Ironwood is bad guy now. Stop him. Same thing happens with Robyn Hill. Yes, she's misguided and doesn't have the complete scope of the big picture. That still doesn't excuse how she immediately turns to vigilantism when she feels like the government isn't doing what she wants, especially as someone who was running for a position on said government. It sends a horrible message from a certain point of view, and is pretty hypocritical. But no, the show wants you to see her as a good guy. So BOOM, she is. Stop questioning us.
If I had to fix Weiss in volume 7, I'd do this: Firstly, in Volume 6, she sees Adam's scar -- maybe she even fights him too. This pushes her to try harder at doing what's best for the faunus. When Volume 7 rolls in and the team arrives in mantle, she's bombarded by bad mouthing from the faunus who work in the mines and those in poverty (It's pretty apparent that Mantle is home to at least lower middle class and poor citizens, so it would only be natural if they held a grudge towards the wealthy) When they're arrested, Forrest keeps his line. After they've arrived at the academy and talked to Ironwood, Weiss decides to show her friends some sights around Atlas. We don't need to be stuck in one place again and avoid world building. At first, she dawns a disguise -- what it would be, I'm not sure -- but it doesn't work too well. She's bombarded once more, but this time it’s by the elites of Atlas who'd like to get in good with her father for one reason or another. Her team plus Oscar and Junior (seriously can we just induct Oscar into team Junior to make the letters ORNJ instead of JNR?) fend them off, but not before a sneaky paparazzi gets a photo of her. This is how Jacques figures out she's home. Once Jacques arrives to talk to Ironwood, Weiss hides behind her team (she told them why she fears her dad). She only comes out when Jacques acts racist towards Blake, since it's apparent that she's the only one who'll stand up for her. This is getting long, but a couple final changes would be these: 1) Weiss has heard rumors about Robyn (as maybe in this change, she's been a rebellion leader for years) and decides to go to the rally to get more of an understanding for her views. 2) Winter and Weiss interact more after their hug in the second episode. They train together, share dinner with her friends and even go over their adventures after the fall of beacon. 3) Weiss is more confident in herself after gaining her license 3.5) On a sidenote, she's studied huntsmen laws and regulations. That's all I got. Great video though. I thought up a forth change: her outfit. It's no longer the one we get in volume 7, but an homage to her grandfather. I'm not an artist, but I feel like it'd be something like Saber's knight outfit from Fate.
The only chancge I would have is to have her try to talk to whitley after Jack is arrested but he doesn't want to speak with her and before she can talk to him more Ironwood or team rwby call her to assist in a mission
Y'all are looking at this the wrong way. Roman DID survive... _by getting the hell outta there._ He remains a great character and the only way they can worsen him is with flashbacks or something.

Honestly that is a big part of the problem with writing black vs white (evil vs good) stories. You're so busy trying to establish the character as "good" or "growing" and you forget to establish them as "human." Carving out your own path shouldn't be constantly winning, it should also be getting past failure.

That's why I desperately want Team RWBY to fail in saving Atlas, causing massive civilian casualties or at the very least, have a hollow victory. But I doubt that will happen. At worst, they'll lose a Relic, Maiden or both, with minimal civilian casualties. And it'll probably be framed as a consequence of Ironwood's plan to abandon Mantle instead of Team RWBY's plan to attempt to restore communications.
Rwby is becoming more and more of a disappointing show even though that Weiss was waste just like the other characters have all become and rooster teeth don't know how to make more character development by writing them.
I think at this point anyone in the community who truly wants the show to succeed will do it for free. I'm still sitting here scratching my head as as to WHAT salem actually wants the relics for.

I shouldn't have been surprised that even Ice Queen was getting dethroned. With how Vol6 treated Adam (and thus blakes ordeal) its clear they have no real desire to put actual Arcs for the main team. For Weiss it was basically 'ok your shits getting handled but strp aside for what we want to matter' Her ordeal deserved 3 vols, 7 to start and show the pain of fame for her (singer and etc. After all she probably would have had a concert) 8 to have things get rocky, with 9 having her show the world what she wants the schnee name represent. But nope. From the look of how vol 7 ended they plan tp end it quickly and with ups handling

@@michaelflores9220 Honestly would've had depend on how they handled him though 5 and a tad of 4, but with what we were given: a foe that would've needed the full presence of RWBY instead of just BY, death by that point would've been ok because he could've left her with a word of 'it always starts justified' as he died knowing that his death could be the first of many if she's not careful with her actions. Ruby would see the man that harmed her sister so as a fight could could lead to something but with Weiss she'd see just how badly the faunus got treated under her family's name. Its not so much what can be done to fulfill him but rather what he could've brought to our heroes.
@@michaelflores9220 Never heard of Wheel of time books, but I'll give credit it would be lengthy, but when you're trying to tackle things that deserve the lengthy focus then why not? If it helps, look at any side plots they brought through the vol, see if it went anywhere stable and consistent and if the answer's no then thats where you could've put it.. Hell in terms of Weiss doing things because she's famous, that could've been her reason for not being at the voting place instead of the movies. I'm pretty sure Juane and Oscar would've loved to hear her sing and would've been a good thing for Mantle.
@@TatsuEntertainment Your complain is about Weiss going to the theater? The only inconsistency in this volume is the treatment of the blatant lack of blood on Penny's blades. That is indeed a serious error. The White Fang Arc was handled long enough when it was finished at the end of Volume 4. YAng's PTSD arc was shown and not ignored, she even got into at least two face to face verbal fights with Blake. Her hand was shaking when she saw Adam i person and at other times. She confronted her birth mother. OS they are not ignoring subplots. Same with this volume, the subplot of Weiss actively confronting her father was shown onscreen and resolved.
4:00 Honestly it's even simpler than that why it's dumb for Weiss to be all worried about being taken back to her father. That line of dialogue is more proof of this show's crap writing. Everyone, EVERYONE other than Ruby and Oscar is 18+. It was said in Volume 2 that it's a new semester. That means 5 to 6 months have past since they arrived at Beacon. Then, it was said to be 6-8 months in the Volume 4 timeskip. Over a year has past since Volume 1, where RWBY was 15 and the rest 17. They are adults. Bad ones, but adults nonetheless.
@@VexedViewer Yang was able to go into a bar and order drinks with none of the bouncers stopping her. You can argue that 18 is past the age of majority. This is something that really should have been brought up in the early volumes. A simple age limit like that says a lot about the world they live in.
But wasn't V3 in the fall of their first year since Ruby is still 15 in that Volume (stated in ch5 by Ciel Soleil) and states in ch2 of that Volume that it is Fall? Not to mention Ruby and co. leave by the end of V3 during Winter which means she's turned 16 by the end of V3 since Ruby's birthday is Oct. 31st. Honestly, since we get no info at all on school years in RWBY I made a theory that semesters are much shorter than the real world because grimm (before it got retconned) are not meant to survive in the cold which means semesters would end by the start of Winter since there would be no grimm to even kill or train against. It's the only way that I can explain why V2 takes place in their 2nd Freshmen semester despite V3 taking place in the Fall of their first year with Ruby still being 15. They have a really broken timeline, that I literally spent 18 hours total throughout an entire week trying to put everything in place to the best of my ability so that it all made sense
@@HoV326 Honestly, their timeline is messed up. The writers even admitted it which is why they mostly avoid stating time periods. Its also why it makes no sense that after they admit that, they still added time periods and dates to things. Makes everything more confusing than it should be.

I'm gonna say it now, Fanfiction writers on wattpad and fanfiction.net do a better job at handling RWBY's characters even though some of them don't know how to spell and have terrible grammar.
There's nothing i Hate more than weiss' interactions with faunus. Everyone alwayd says they're glad she got over her racism but I'm sitting here thinking, "why did she have to get over it?". Her feelings towards the faunus at the beginning of the show were justified. I would go so far as to say most of the time we saw it, it wasn't even racism. Everytime i saw her show regret for the actions of other people, i couldn't help but feel like the writers forgot that weiss was a victim too.
Weiss was still biased against faunus. She had a justifiable reason for that bias, but that doesn't mean she didn't have one, which was what her small arc at the end of Vol 1 was about. Then it was placed on the backburner until the writers forgot about it. Because you know, deep seated biases that have been reinforced by the experiences you've had throughout your life up to that point can be solved in the space of a conversation. And that's not just on Weiss' part, Blake has the same problem. Honestly, I feel like the writers don't want to write arcs and scenes discussing racism and discrimination beyond "its bad" because they're scared of backlash they could receive. Which is stupid, because now you're simplifing and dumbing down the issue which does far more damage.
@@Birthday888 this sort of thing happens all the time in rwby. The writers don't put in the legwork. It's such a strange thing. They clearly want to tell a certain kind of story, for example: ruby not trusting ironwood, but they don't give us the scenes that set up the story and as a result, it feels like I'm watching 2 separate shows, the one that'ssupported by what eventd that occur in the show, and the one i am currently watching. I watch weiss say "I'm so sorry about your people" in the mines and im flashing back to "The Stray" trying to figure out when this change happened, only to realise it didn't. Although i kinda feel as if they wrote that arc blake would be irrevocably changed. She's not at the point where she's allowed to care what others think. If she had to accept the other peoppes perspectives might be in any way valid, or even worse, that she might be wrong, who knows how she woulf turn out.
@@rodneydaliege8909 Yeah. You can see examples of that sort of writing in the Atlas Arc as well, with Ironwood and Robyn Hill. Robyn's clearly meant to be the good guy we're supposed to root for, as she's sticking up for Mantle. Of course, then the writer's throw in a scene of her group of Huntresses intercepting and sabotaging military supplies because they aren't going towards Mantle. And there would be nothing wrong with that if Robyn was a criminal or even just a disgruntled Huntress like her literary counterpart, but as a political figure, it's so hypocritical and disingenuous that it pretty much ruins the character and what they're supposed to stand for. So what, it's fine for politicians to break the law and undermine their government when they think it's for the good of the country? That's literally a motivation for a villain. And literally nobody comments on it. They explain the situation and suddenly, everything is forgiven. Yeah, you basically proved why you should never be in a position of power in the government, but you were misguided, so everything's fine. Same thing when Team RWBY decide to rebel against Ironwood's plan to abandon Mantle. Ironically, Ironwood's descent into paranoia due to being crushed under the weight of responsibility on his shoulders was the best part of the volume, though I would have liked to see the cracks forming before he completely broke. Still, we understand why he's making this choice and what drove him to make it. Not so much for Team RWBY, who are almost cartoonishly good. With Ironwood, we see the weight of the choices he's making and the desperation and fear that's driving his actions. Why does Team RWBY argue against abandoning Mantle? .... Because killing people is bad and "Huntsmen don't run from a fight"? I think? Their motivations are so rarely discussed and uninspired at this point that I'm genuinely not that sure. In any case, their motivations and reasoning for their actions are so flat and cartoonishly pure that it sucks all the humanity out of them. There's no inner conflict, there's no introspection on whether they're doing the right thing or not, there's no ideals or values being question. Just, "I'm the good guy, so I'll do the good thing." Which frustrated me so much when I first watched it because the show just assumes, without prompting, that the viewer sees Ironwood in the wrong and Team RWBY as the good guys in that situation. Which they are, don't get me wrong, but the sheer lack of effort makes the whole thing feel cheap and hollow.

Rodney Daliege but it wasn’t justified. He feelings were biased and they were understandable, but it wasn’t justified. At all. The Faunus was attacking her company because of what the company was doing to them. This wasn’t an equal situation where all parties did something bad to one another and thus created this war. This is a situation where racism is the root of how the Faunus were treated, and if you believe that racism is justified on the opressors side, then you need to rethink what racism actually is and how it actually works and the affects on those being oppressed. That’s like saying that white people are justified in being racist towards black people because of the black panthers, even though the black panthers were a result of racist white people. Why are the Faunus at fault because they’re fighting back against oppression. Why are they considered equally as bad as their oppressor. The fact that claiming that Weiss is justified means that Jacques and the schnee dust company is justified in being racist because the Faunus are killing them off

Something i find funny regarding Willow is in show she is not a good mum but that is because of her marriage and drinking. But then you look to the comics and honestly Willow comes across as worse than jacq with the treatment of Weiss and makes me question, since the comics are supposed to be canon, how are you supposed to feel anything for Willow who is a horrible person thanks to the comics.

Hey I just watched the video. Thank you for addressing the problems with the writing with Weiss’s decisions. There have been more in the last two seasons. She’s still definitely my favorite character on RWBY.
Mama Schnee is how you handle an emotionally distant alcoholic, not like with Qrow where they constantly makes joke at the fact he’s a drunk but still try and sell the idea we’re meant to pity him.
Weiss’s semblance was too powerful and she was too skilled so the writers just threw away the idea of her having any competence and instead of making her an ice queen, they made her a princess in need of saving. Since apparently no one knows how to write a somewhat overpowered character into the show
You know how amazing it would’ve been if they straight up had Weiss and Adam encounter each other before he died? It would’ve been such an amazing scene
Now that I think about it Ruby is the only member of Team RWBY to not get majorly wounded in some way. Weiss got Impaled by Cinder, Blake got stabbed in the gut by Adam, and Yang lost an arm. Here’s to hoping her spine gets broken or something in the later volumes, it would certainly make things more interesting and satisfy me by an absolute *_ton_*

i miss old weiss- being sassy, does not equal being bad. but i do question-why they had to take the she a rich girl- but when people confront her she turns the cheek. part of me wishes they explored her and how mean she can be if push to far. because i do relate to weiss in some sense
i really feel bad for this show, imo it has in my opinion some of the most interesting character designs and personalities (beacon academy students and staff), very interesting landmarks and locations and tons of potential lore. too bad its stuck with lackluster and inconsistent writers that kinda ruin these characters and the world they live in
And just remember that the writers wrote a whole episode about why they shouldn’t be criticized that was not only not subtle but also just showed they behave delusions on what the show has become. Glad you’re able to point out all the wrongs, maybe they’ll finally listen.
rashan141 it was volume 7 episode 5, or as I like to think of it, “don’t criticize us”, the episode. Most of there decisions in volume 7 were touched upon in a way that was meant to look positive, I guess. It had the opposite effect.

That stupid BumbleBee scene, Ruby only JUST asking Penny about her situation, everything that is Robyn being just introduced and we know how that ends up. It's not like people rip on it in-universe so them seeing it differently is something I can accept. They just didn't need to call attention to it as they did with Nora. Like, instead of saying it was the hair, make it about him literally being the 'Knight' of the team. He's stronger than the civilians yet he's also taking care of their kids to get to school safely. Any of that could have been a better gag than saying out loud it's his hair. And the less said about BB and their horrendous attempts to make us think it works the better. Ok ive gotta be honest i havent been watching a lot of anime for a while but i havent watched rwby since season 5 started pissing me of around episode 11, but after your videos not only do i not regret these action but i dont even wanna watch seasons 6 and 7 as a joke, the videos just show me this show isnt what i loved or even admired anymore, its just a poor atempt to copy how anime tells its stories with characters that lack any charm they once had

A problem I'm seeing is that they build up these villains like Torchwick, Cinder, Papa Schnee, etc, with character relations and motivations, and then remove them from the story like Saturday morning cartoon villains. This has happened to Cinder twice.
At least in the case of Torchwick they had it made very apparent that he was just some thief wrapped in something much bigger then himself and all he wanted to do was survive.
Its almost as if they realized that Weiss was their best written character and realized that their show was slowly going downhill so they tried to forcibly cram in more 'development' in hopes that it will make their show better. Either that or they think ruining characters is good writing. God I hate her new outfit so much. The Chinese game has a better outfit design.
Fun fact: One guy I argued with said that Jacques being abusive was never established and was terrible writing that came out of nowhere to whitewash Whitley's character. He even said that Jacques hitting her and disinheriting her in Volume 4 was totally justified punishment and discipline that she deserved after using her family name to get out of jail time for almost murdering a party guest.
I mean, from a parenting 101 perspective, it's true. Sure the slap to the face can be argued as being a step too far , depending on who you ask, but I wouldn't call the man abusive over one confirmed slap. Now as in terms of emotionally abusive or manipulative towards his own children? Yes, Jacques is guilty as charged. both are technically a form of abuse but it's different from physical abuse with different harmful affects on growing children. I'd say Jacques decision to punish Weiss for her behavior is, in context, justifiable. However, the methods and extremes he goes to are definatelly not ok to say the least.

He was saying that any sort of abuse had never been shown or indicated and that it was something the writers made up on the spot solely to whitewash Whitley, who hasn't even done anything nasty enough to need whitewashing if you ask me. It felt like he had never watched the show since he was basically trying to say that Jacques was a reasonable parent and had never been framed in a way that showed him in an abusive light toward Weiss. It just seemed like he was ignoring the clear narrative being built up around the Schnee family and obsessing over the idea that Whitley was a villain the writers were trying to let off the hook without consequence with a plot contrivance that he thought came out of nowhere and made no sense.

Weiss' line of dialogue regarding a "very difficult childhood" due to her father being constantly angry? Yeah, that's a pretty good sign to anyone that her father might be abusive to at least some degree. Point is, you are right. The abusive parent angle the writers were going for was defenitely hinted at very early in the show. The problem is that it was horribly executed when Volume 4 came around and Jaques was introduced on screen. But it seems like he was probably manipulative and emotionally abusive toward his children, judging from how he acted toward Weiss when she stopped doing what he wanted. The only thing that surprised me is Jacque apparently not caring about his family at all. Even if he was a terrible father, I was thinking he might still care about his family to some small extent, judging from how he personally flew out to pick up Weiss after the Fall of Beacon. But maybe that's just me.
Prediction of Volume 8, the writers might kill Penny (or make it look like she dies) or/and her dad. Why? Well Salem's on top of a big whale and Penny's the guardian of Atlas. Penny's based of Pinocchio and the story had him and his dad swallowed by the whale. Obviously, both escaped the whale but what if the writers thought they were being clever by killing them off instead? Because repeating emotional events is always a fun thing ain't it?
This show had an amazing beginning. The first three seasons were solid and good, then season four was average at best, season five was absolute garbage, season six was close to being good but my god the last four episodes were absolutely terrible, and season seven was average and boring with basically nothing happening. It doesn't help that the fandom cares more about toxic shipping than actual good storytelling, character development, fight scenes with the same flair as the first three seasons but no, toxic fans want to push RWBY for shipping like bumbleby which is a stupid ship since it never was truly developed and people misinterpreted friendship character moments for shipping. Guh I miss the old RWBY when it had style, better character development, better fights and better everything honestly. I miss the good old day.

Weiss hasn’t even interacted with Adam once, when it would be far more interesting than Yang interacting with him. Hell, it would have made the Haven fight slightly more interesting.
Meeting him would force Weiss to face the worst of what her family had created, all the suffering Adam caused in revenge from his pain at the hands of her family’s company. Then she could prove that she was no longer held back by her family, and Blake standing beside her and defending her as a friend would be one hell of a show of defiance, basically saying “I’m ready to forgive. My problem with Weiss is baest summed up by what Twiins Ink said (I recommend watching her): "Weiss is constantly overcoming some character flaw, and now she kind of has nothing to do." Weiss is pretty much perfect now. There's no room to grow. She doesn't even have much of her sassy personality these days, either. She's just "nice". And now that they did away with her main antagonist, her father (in a very lackluster way), she really has nothing to do. She's about to become as irrelevant as Blake.

Winter had literally just called for medical evacuation and was also *literally telling her* "Please go and leave me behind."
The fact that Weiss doesn't even care for her own brother is pretty sad. She grew up in a domestic toxic house hold. Winter left for the military, Weiss left for Beacon. Of course why else Whitley resent his sisters who left him isolated with an alcoholic mother and businessman father that moulded him. How he would be so furious that it made her upbringing hard on her. None of it brought up again.
Weiss not using her glyph utility is saddening. She can time dilate, uses variety of dust, binding, launching herself/friends, a fencer with elegant poised and can dodge like a pro with her flexibility. Nope. She no longer that anymore. She just kept relying on her summons. It goes the same for Winter when she fought Cinder.
I agree on everything but Cinder is way too strong for just "glyphes" if you're a Schnee and you're fighting a maiden I recomend you to use both Glyphes and Summons.
Well if we are being fair Weiss specifically said “you never liked winter...you never liked me” so she really didn’t have a relationship with her brother thus she couldn’t tell how he felt. Even in pictures only the woman of the family were unhappy. Weiss more than likely thought that whitley enjoyed being there.

Gary Taylor Qrow gets beaten around frequently despite being an absolute beast in his fight against Winter, he was poisoned when he got stung by Tyrian, making him useless for the rest of Volume 4, he got slapped around by Hazel, did nothing to stop Raven from going down in the vault with Cinder and Vernal despite being the oldest one there and is drunk off his butt for most of Volume 6 while being made absolutely stupid in Volume 7’s climax. Qrow certainly represents the Elite.
No, as I see it, Weiss didn't say she wanted to go back to Atlas alone because the writers suck at writing the girls when they're apart. As much as possible, they want the girls to stick together, even if it meant showing some ridiculous situations where splitting up momentarily would have been the best choice. It honestly sucks how much they've forgotten/not used concerning Weiss' abilities. Like you pointed out, the volume 6 finale battle shows her mastery over dust is great enough that she could've blocked the Grimm from entering Mantle. That and her time dilation would allow the rest of the team to get hits in quicker and maybe even help RWBY in training to be faster, learning what that kind of speed feels like.
She really should've been a major focus compared to what she got for this volume. Hopefully things get better for the rest of the Atlas arc, but that might just be wishful thinking.
This is honestly why I not a fan of Summoning. It was cool when it was introduced as a metaphor of her independence but it feels like it came at the loss of her other abilities. She was so much more versatile fighter, but summoning just takes that away.
@@CrimsonColbat I definitely agree. A good example of that was in S5 against Vernal, she kept trying to summon instead of using dust, or maybe slowing her down so she could catch her breath.
The thought came into my mind about her time dilation ability. If she could freeze/slowdown an object in place, she could trap an enemy and fire off multiple projectiles of ice at once. Don't remember if she's done something similar before, but it seemed cool in my mind.

Volume 7 should’ve been Weiss’s arc but it was really just Robyn’s arc. Ever since she showed up the focus has been on her and her campaign and that really just pissed me off.

I was pretty disappointed on how Jaune was just there in the background even though he has a crucial semblance and has had all that growth to make him a better leader. Was also disappointed that they had Nora rant about Mantle, possibly hinting at something but then forgetting about it, and how they keep showing something going on with Ren but again, they do nothing with it. @@zusfrankenstein8561 That's what bugs me the most about RWBY's writing. There's no self-awareness in their characters, no introspection. We're given bad guys to root against and good guys to root for, without the show ever bringing up why we should feel about them like that.
For example, Ironwood's plan is wrong in their current situation, and yes, his descent into desperation and paranoia that led to him making that decision was well-done. What irks me is how Team RWBY immediately objects to the plan and acts against it, without ever considering why he came to that decision or whether he might be right and they might be wrong. There's no thought to the consequence that by fighting, Team RWBY might wipe out an entire Kingdom's worth of people. There's no hesitation, in neither the characters or the shows tone. It's just BOOM: Ironwood is bad guy now. Stop him.
Same thing happens with Robyn Hill. Yes, she's misguided and doesn't have the complete scope of the big picture. That still doesn't excuse how she immediately turns to vigilantism when she feels like the government isn't doing what she wants, especially as someone who was running for a position on said government. It sends a horrible message from a certain point of view, and is pretty hypocritical. But no, the show wants you to see her as a good guy. So BOOM, she is. Stop questioning us.

If I had to fix Weiss in volume 7, I'd do this:
Firstly, in Volume 6, she sees Adam's scar -- maybe she even fights him too. This pushes her to try harder at doing what's best for the faunus. When Volume 7 rolls in and the team arrives in mantle, she's bombarded by bad mouthing from the faunus who work in the mines and those in poverty
(It's pretty apparent that Mantle is home to at least lower middle class and poor citizens, so it would only be natural if they held a grudge towards the wealthy)
When they're arrested, Forrest keeps his line. After they've arrived at the academy and talked to Ironwood, Weiss decides to show her friends some sights around Atlas. We don't need to be stuck in one place again and avoid world building.
At first, she dawns a disguise -- what it would be, I'm not sure -- but it doesn't work too well. She's bombarded once more, but this time it’s by the elites of Atlas who'd like to get in good with her father for one reason or another.
Her team plus Oscar and Junior (seriously can we just induct Oscar into team Junior to make the letters ORNJ instead of JNR?) fend them off, but not before a sneaky paparazzi gets a photo of her.
This is how Jacques figures out she's home.
Once Jacques arrives to talk to Ironwood, Weiss hides behind her team (she told them why she fears her dad). She only comes out when Jacques acts racist towards Blake, since it's apparent that she's the only one who'll stand up for her.
This is getting long, but a couple final changes would be these:
1) Weiss has heard rumors about Robyn (as maybe in this change, she's been a rebellion leader for years) and decides to go to the rally to get more of an understanding for her views.
2) Winter and Weiss interact more after their hug in the second episode. They train together, share dinner with her friends and even go over their adventures after the fall of beacon.
3) Weiss is more confident in herself after gaining her license
3.5) On a sidenote, she's studied huntsmen laws and regulations.
That's all I got. Great video though.
I thought up a forth change: her outfit. It's no longer the one we get in volume 7, but an homage to her grandfather.

Honestly that is a big part of the problem with writing black vs white (evil vs good) stories. You're so busy trying to establish the character as "good" or "growing" and you forget to establish them as "human." Carving out your own path shouldn't be constantly winning, it should also be getting past failure.

That's why I desperately want Team RWBY to fail in saving Atlas, causing massive civilian casualties or at the very least, have a hollow victory. But I doubt that will happen. At worst, they'll lose a Relic, Maiden or both, with minimal civilian casualties. And it'll probably be framed as a consequence of Ironwood's plan to abandon Mantle instead of Team RWBY's plan to attempt to restore communications.
Rwby is becoming more and more of a disappointing show even though that Weiss was waste just like the other characters have all become and rooster teeth don't know how to make more character development by writing them.
They really should hire someone to look over their plot threads. At least we’re still getting rwby

I shouldn't have been surprised that even Ice Queen was getting dethroned. With how Vol6 treated Adam (and thus blakes ordeal) its clear they have no real desire to put actual Arcs for the main team. For Weiss it was basically 'ok your shits getting handled but strp aside for what we want to matter' Her ordeal deserved 3 vols, 7 to start and show the pain of fame for her (singer and etc. After all she probably would have had a concert) 8 to have things get rocky, with 9 having her show the world what she wants the schnee name represent. But nope. From the look of how vol 7 ended they plan tp end it quickly and with ups handling

Ruby would see the man that harmed her sister so as a fight could could lead to something but with Weiss she'd see just how badly the faunus got treated under her family's name. Its not so much what can be done to fulfill him but rather what he could've brought to our heroes.

If it helps, look at any side plots they brought through the vol, see if it went anywhere stable and consistent and if the answer's no then thats where you could've put it.. Hell in terms of Weiss doing things because she's famous, that could've been her reason for not being at the voting place instead of the movies. I'm pretty sure Juane and Oscar would've loved to hear her sing and would've been a good thing for Mantle.

YAng's PTSD arc was shown and not ignored, she even got into at least two face to face verbal fights with Blake. Her hand was shaking when she saw Adam i person and at other times. She confronted her birth mother. OS they are not ignoring subplots. Same with this volume, the subplot of Weiss actively confronting her father was shown onscreen and resolved.

Honestly it's even simpler than that why it's dumb for Weiss to be all worried about being taken back to her father. That line of dialogue is more proof of this show's crap writing. Everyone, EVERYONE other than Ruby and Oscar is 18+. It was said in Volume 2 that it's a new semester. That means 5 to 6 months have past since they arrived at Beacon. Then, it was said to be 6-8 months in the Volume 4 timeskip. Over a year has past since Volume 1, where RWBY was 15 and the rest 17. They are adults. Bad ones, but adults nonetheless.

This is something that really should have been brought up in the early volumes. A simple age limit like that says a lot about the world they live in.
But wasn't V3 in the fall of their first year since Ruby is still 15 in that Volume (stated in ch5 by Ciel Soleil) and states in ch2 of that Volume that it is Fall? Not to mention Ruby and co. leave by the end of V3 during Winter which means she's turned 16 by the end of V3 since Ruby's birthday is Oct. 31st. Honestly, since we get no info at all on school years in RWBY I made a theory that semesters are much shorter than the real world because grimm (before it got retconned) are not meant to survive in the cold which means semesters would end by the start of Winter since there would be no grimm to even kill or train against. It's the only way that I can explain why V2 takes place in their 2nd Freshmen semester despite V3 taking place in the Fall of their first year with Ruby still being 15. They have a really broken timeline, that I literally spent 18 hours total throughout an entire week trying to put everything in place to the best of my ability so that it all made sense

There's nothing i Hate more than weiss' interactions with faunus.
Everyone alwayd says they're glad she got over her racism but I'm sitting here thinking, "why did she have to get over it?". Her feelings towards the faunus at the beginning of the show were justified. I would go so far as to say most of the time we saw it, it wasn't even racism.
Everytime i saw her show regret for the actions of other people, i couldn't help but feel like the writers forgot that weiss was a victim too.
Weiss was still biased against faunus. She had a justifiable reason for that bias, but that doesn't mean she didn't have one, which was what her small arc at the end of Vol 1 was about. Then it was placed on the backburner until the writers forgot about it.
Because you know, deep seated biases that have been reinforced by the experiences you've had throughout your life up to that point can be solved in the space of a conversation. And that's not just on Weiss' part, Blake has the same problem.
Honestly, I feel like the writers don't want to write arcs and scenes discussing racism and discrimination beyond "its bad" because they're scared of backlash they could receive. Which is stupid, because now you're simplifing and dumbing down the issue which does far more damage.

They clearly want to tell a certain kind of story, for example: ruby not trusting ironwood, but they don't give us the scenes that set up the story and as a result, it feels like I'm watching 2 separate shows, the one that'ssupported by what eventd that occur in the show, and the one i am currently watching. I watch weiss say "I'm so sorry about your people" in the mines and im flashing back to "The Stray" trying to figure out when this change happened, only to realise it didn't.
Although i kinda feel as if they wrote that arc blake would be irrevocably changed. She's not at the point where she's allowed to care what others think. If she had to accept the other peoppes perspectives might be in any way valid, or even worse, that she might be wrong, who knows how she woulf turn out.
@@rodneydaliege8909 Yeah. You can see examples of that sort of writing in the Atlas Arc as well, with Ironwood and Robyn Hill. Robyn's clearly meant to be the good guy we're supposed to root for, as she's sticking up for Mantle. Of course, then the writer's throw in a scene of her group of Huntresses intercepting and sabotaging military supplies because they aren't going towards Mantle. And there would be nothing wrong with that if Robyn was a criminal or even just a disgruntled Huntress like her literary counterpart, but as a political figure, it's so hypocritical and disingenuous that it pretty much ruins the character and what they're supposed to stand for. So what, it's fine for politicians to break the law and undermine their government when they think it's for the good of the country? That's literally a motivation for a villain. And literally nobody comments on it. They explain the situation and suddenly, everything is forgiven. Yeah, you basically proved why you should never be in a position of power in the government, but you were misguided, so everything's fine.
Same thing when Team RWBY decide to rebel against Ironwood's plan to abandon Mantle. Ironically, Ironwood's descent into paranoia due to being crushed under the weight of responsibility on his shoulders was the best part of the volume, though I would have liked to see the cracks forming before he completely broke. Still, we understand why he's making this choice and what drove him to make it. Not so much for Team RWBY, who are almost cartoonishly good. With Ironwood, we see the weight of the choices he's making and the desperation and fear that's driving his actions. Why does Team RWBY argue against abandoning Mantle? .... Because killing people is bad and "Huntsmen don't run from a fight"? I think? Their motivations are so rarely discussed and uninspired at this point that I'm genuinely not that sure. In any case, their motivations and reasoning for their actions are so flat and cartoonishly pure that it sucks all the humanity out of them. There's no inner conflict, there's no introspection on whether they're doing the right thing or not, there's no ideals or values being question. Just, "I'm the good guy, so I'll do the good thing." Which frustrated me so much when I first watched it because the show just assumes, without prompting, that the viewer sees Ironwood in the wrong and Team RWBY as the good guys in that situation. Which they are, don't get me wrong, but the sheer lack of effort makes the whole thing feel cheap and hollow.

Rodney Daliege but it wasn’t justified. He feelings were biased and they were understandable, but it wasn’t justified. At all. The Faunus was attacking her company because of what the company was doing to them. This wasn’t an equal situation where all parties did something bad to one another and thus created this war. This is a situation where racism is the root of how the Faunus were treated, and if you believe that racism is justified on the opressors side, then you need to rethink what racism actually is and how it actually works and the affects on those being oppressed. That’s like saying that white people are justified in being racist towards black people because of the black panthers, even though the black panthers were a result of racist white people.
Why are the Faunus at fault because they’re fighting back against oppression. Why are they considered equally as bad as their oppressor. The fact that claiming that Weiss is justified means that Jacques and the schnee dust company is justified in being racist because the Faunus are killing them off

Something i find funny regarding Willow is in show she is not a good mum but that is because of her marriage and drinking. But then you look to the comics and honestly Willow comes across as worse than jacq with the treatment of Weiss and makes me question, since the comics are supposed to be canon, how are you supposed to feel anything for Willow who is a horrible person thanks to the comics.

Hey I just watched the video. Thank you for addressing the problems with the writing with Weiss’s decisions. There have been more in the last two seasons. She’s still definitely my favorite character on RWBY.
Mama Schnee is how you handle an emotionally distant alcoholic, not like with Qrow where they constantly makes joke at the fact he’s a drunk but still try and sell the idea we’re meant to pity him.

Weiss’s semblance was too powerful and she was too skilled so the writers just threw away the idea of her having any competence and instead of making her an ice queen, they made her a princess in need of saving. On Jaune's hair... I don't see the problem with it being a GAG. It's not like people rip on it in-universe so them seeing it differently is something I can accept. They just didn't need to call attention to it as they did with Nora.
Like, instead of saying it was the hair, make it about him literally being the 'Knight' of the team. He's stronger than the civilians yet he's also taking care of their kids to get to school safely. Any of that could have been a better gag than saying out loud it's his hair.
And the less said about BB and their horrendous attempts to make us think it works the better. That scene alone tainted that episode as being a pat on the back for themselves and it was frankly disgusting to see.

Ok ive gotta be honest i havent been watching a lot of anime for a while but i havent watched rwby since season 5 started pissing me of around episode 11, but after your videos not only do i not regret these action but i dont even wanna watch seasons 6 and 7 as a joke, the videos just show me this show isnt what i loved or even admired anymore, its just a poor atempt to copy how anime tells its stories with characters that lack any charm they once had

A problem I'm seeing is that they build up these villains like Torchwick, Cinder, Papa Schnee, etc, with character relations and motivations, and then remove them from the story like Saturday morning cartoon villains. This has happened to Cinder twice.
At least in the case of Torchwick they had it made very apparent that he was just some thief wrapped in something much bigger then himself and all he wanted to do was survive.
Its almost as if they realized that Weiss was their best written character and realized that their show was slowly going downhill so they tried to forcibly cram in more 'development' in hopes that it will make their show better. Either that or they think ruining characters is good writing.

Fun fact: One guy I argued with said that Jacques being abusive was never established and was terrible writing that came out of nowhere to whitewash Whitley's character.
He even said that Jacques hitting her and disinheriting her in Volume 4 was totally justified punishment and discipline that she deserved after using her family name to get out of jail time for almost murdering a party guest.
I mean, from a parenting 101 perspective, it's true. Sure the slap to the face can be argued as being a step too far , depending on who you ask, but I wouldn't call the man abusive over one confirmed slap.
Now as in terms of emotionally abusive or manipulative towards his own children? Yes, Jacques is guilty as charged. both are technically a form of abuse but it's different from physical abuse with different harmful affects on growing children.
I'd say Jacques decision to punish Weiss for her behavior is, in context, justifiable. However, the methods and extremes he goes to are definatelly not ok to say the least.

I get what you are saying and that is a valid point, but this guy was literally saying that Jacques had never even been indicated to be abusive in any way and that saying he was abusive in Volume 7 was bad writing that came out of nowhere.
He was saying that any sort of abuse had never been shown or indicated and that it was something the writers made up on the spot solely to whitewash Whitley, who hasn't even done anything nasty enough to need whitewashing if you ask me.
It felt like he had never watched the show since he was basically trying to say that Jacques was a reasonable parent and had never been framed in a way that showed him in an abusive light toward Weiss.
It just seemed like he was ignoring the clear narrative being built up around the Schnee family and obsessing over the idea that Whitley was a villain the writers were trying to let off the hook without consequence with a plot contrivance that he thought came out of nowhere and made no sense.

The abusive parent angle the writers were going for was defenitely hinted at very early in the show. The problem is that it was horribly executed when Volume 4 came around and Jaques was introduced on screen.

Weiss was clearly surprised by the slap, so, I think it's safe to say that Jacques didn't physically abuse his children (except that time). But it seems like he was probably manipulative and emotionally abusive toward his children, judging from how he acted toward Weiss when she stopped doing what he wanted.
The only thing that surprised me is Jacque apparently not caring about his family at all. Even if he was a terrible father, I was thinking he might still care about his family to some small extent, judging from how he personally flew out to pick up Weiss after the Fall of Beacon. But maybe that's just me.

Prediction of Volume 8, the writers might kill Penny (or make it look like she dies) or/and her dad.
Why? Well Salem's on top of a big whale and Penny's the guardian of Atlas. Penny's based of Pinocchio and the story had him and his dad swallowed by the whale. Obviously, both escaped the whale but what if the writers thought they were being clever by killing them off instead? Because repeating emotional events is always a fun thing ain't it?

This show had an amazing beginning. The first three seasons were solid and good, then season four was average at best, season five was absolute garbage, season six was close to being good but my god the last four episodes were absolutely terrible, and season seven was average and boring with basically nothing happening. It doesn't help that the fandom cares more about toxic shipping than actual good storytelling, character development, fight scenes with the same flair as the first three seasons but no, toxic fans want to push RWBY for shipping like bumbleby which is a stupid ship since it never was truly developed and people misinterpreted friendship character moments for shipping. Guh I miss the old RWBY when it had style, better character development, better fights and better everything honestly. I miss the good old day.
