I am on day 1 of Blender and this was very helpful. I already realized that my night shots on the drone are going to be very hard to track since there isn't much contrast. It's my blue car, gray concrete, dark shadowy background, and all lit with just 2 lamp posts lol. Thanks!
Affine doesn't do perspective changes. It does location, rotation, scale, stretch and skew. the perspective model does actual planar perspective tracking. Affine does not.
Affine"-transformation results in shearing of the image. So this settings enables the tracker to approximate perspective.” That quote was taken from the blender documentation. Affine is not as accurate as perpective but it tracks quicker on lesser computers.
What would be a good way to tell if certain points are problematic? Are there any defining characteristics that problematic points can be described as visually?
Great tutorial I just need help when I pour the ground plane in the foreground collection it appears on rendre how do I get to be invisible like in the video
You will have to turn off the render pass or convert it to a shadow catcher. On my verticle footage tracking video i explain quickly how you can do that.
Of course ... I get, "Some Data Failed To Reconstruct..." STORY OF MY F##%@@ life when it comes to ANY camera tracking. WHY can't this ever just WORK for me, man?! The shot I am tracking is SOOOO simple. It's just a very straight forward, dolly - in shot. No crazy camera movement. No turns or orbits... just a simple, moving -inward. Man.. I'm am starting to get depressed... 😞
Remember blender a minimum of 8 tracks in the shot at all times. Ive had problems with tracking but if its a dolly in shot set the motion model of the tracks to “rotation, location, scale” then solve the shot again that may help. Ill make another more detailed tutorial about blender camera tracking very soon.
nice tutorial!! thank you. would like to know if it is possible to make a tutorial on 3d billboards? similar to the one NPS 3D made a year ago, but without the use of other pluggins like Element 3D?
I need help, when I set the video (same video you used) as the background it works. But when I go to the layout tab, I don't see the background at all, I only see it in motion tracking tab.
How can we align an object across two different clips(or many) of the same area? Lets say drone footage that is filming video clips of the same space but from different angles. Can it be done?
how do you dissapear the ground plane when put film - transparent ? I did that and now has the video background with monkey but plane ground still appears on it with blank background , I tried to convert it as shadow catcher but in properties VISIBILITY in mask only appear Holdout. EDIT: I solve following this tutorial of using shadow captcher in evee: -- th-cam.com/video/gzAr3VyLMOY/w-d-xo.html
I also had one other small issue, when I try to render, seems like I can only render the sequence or the 3d model, and I can't render them both out. Any thoughts as to why this might be?
press set scene frames. try pressing detect features on different frames. press prefetch to load the clip on to your ram. select normalize or change the motion model to previous frame.
Nice tutorial but you’re not really explaining why you are doing certain things. Also it would be helpful if you went through some issues you might come across as not everyone’s clips will track and solve as wonderfully as yours - I know mine certainly didn’t.
Thanks for the advice. ill make another blender camera tracking tutorial that will hopefully cover all the issues you can encounter. It will be alot more advanced than this one.
Hi there, while following your tutorial I found that my plane doesn't just show the shadow like in your video, and instead it also shows the grey of the plane
how do i render the video with the objects i added? it doesn take it, i tried adding a cloud text but on cycles it doesnt show the background video, only the text as the cloud.
yes you can download the footage. Click the link to take you to gumroad. Enter $0 then click “i want this”. Then you should get an email to view content to which you can download. Thanks for leaving 1 star review on free downloadable footage.
jump into the compositor tab. click on use nodes. bring up the render layer node and the movie clip node and connect them into a alpha over node. then connect the alpha over node to the composite out put node, press f12 to render frame . You should now see your background in the final render.
Go to the motion tracking tab. Then either click and drag the video into the plain grid area or click open and navigate to the video then select open clip.
quick question, I had to use a different clip, when I set background I can't see the video, just a blank plane, happens in all viewport view modes. Any pointers?
Interesting..go in to layout mode. Click on camera then go on to the object constraints properties then add camera solver to the object contraints. Press 0 on numbpad that should work. Well i hope it does

Kind of complicated but I managed to make it with your video. Thanks a lot!
Thanks man. Glad you made it through the video.
This is one of the tutorials that deserve like from all my youtube accounts.
Great video. So informative and surprisingly brief
Brilliant tutorial thanks.
after spending two days with davinci resolve and after effect finally on the third day this solved my tracking issue
Thanks man saved me big time
Great tutorial thanks!

man, you are so fast :@ , Give people time to follow you so that they can understand
amazing tut for me ❤
So I assume that for an outdoor clip you could also get DEM data and use that rather than a plane?
awesome dude🤩🤩
thanks man
I made a gumroad account but I cant download the tutorial footage :/ is there something Im missing? thanks
Nice thanks 💚

You are my HERO!!!!
Thank you! Bless you god!
how was the ground plain not visible in the final render but the shadows are? When I followed along the floor plain was still visible?
I had the same issue, it is not explained how it suddenly "dissapears"
i had the same problem , i found up we need to turn render engine to cycles to solve this problem
@@hrimfaxi100 BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH

I've followed a few tutorials on motion tracking but my film footage never shows when I render the animation

Hi! Please tell me where is the button that enables the display of the tracker search area (search size)? I can't find it(
Bro object is also moving towards camera movement how to fix that and its not look orginal what to do for that
when i press detect features, nothing happens... any advice ? Like no tracking points show up
