The high boost is for response, not big power but that doesnt take from how cool it is that it has immediate boost response to almost 4 bar on a mostly stock engine. Thats impressive in itself before you consider there's a big volume low boost turbo in the mix that supports the higher power levels.
Said it before on Hoonigan, I'll say it again, I love this car. Perfect example of grassroots motorsport. Love the "VW parts bin" approach of building it as well, same thing the engineers did for the Quattro and Beetle rally cars back in the day. AWESOME!

Back in the Walter Röhrl 1987 days, Audi did also run one of the very first PDKs (developed for the 962C Le Mans car iirc) in the Pikes Peak Quattro S1 Evo, for the same reason, not loosing boost.

That thing accelerates like a motorcycle hehe wow! When you think about his turbo setup from the perspective of Banks' laminar flow philosophy, it's hard to imagine how you can fit so much power into such tight quarters. All the right angles and 180 degree bends, and directing charge air through a wastegate, it robs a lot of energy. Then I start thinking maybe that's why he only loses 60hp at high altitude, because lower air density will interfere with that potential energy less? Anyway, I'm really impressed!
Pikes peak is right out my front door cabin at 9500ft above sea level. I too am building beetle racer but it is a 2005 tdi new beetle with smyth ute pickup kit, awd conversion, and with ammonia fuel conversion. At 100mph it is still getting 38-40mpg
Absolutely killer car. I like this style of video mixed in. Also, it's probably going to feel unnatural, but when you interview someone, it isn't a conversation. Affirming you're listening with a series of "mhm, yeah, right" etc. Is obviously natural for a conversation, but comes off as pushy, intrusive, and distracting in an interview. Just my 2 cents, I guess.
Media is evolving, the natural feeling of witnessing the conversation feels more like you're actually there, as all of GHPC's videos feel. I can see your point but I prefer this infinitely.

Next upgrade trickle feed nitrous. It's on demand and it stops when you let go of the button. Also because nitrous is cold it will help with engine temp issues.
