Deffinitly one of the best builds I have ever seen. Once I seen all they flat cut alluminum my mind was blown! Great job. Usually everyone uses tubing. What you guys did was much cleaner and nicer looking
I've been a VW fan for over forty years and I've seen my share of VW mods and customs. Obviously dropping a V8 into a Beetle is nothing new as you know. And honestly I don't typically give 'em much attention simply due to the Madd Scientist approach that's used. I'm also a bit of a purist and believe it's just better to run with a VW engine to start with. With all that can be done with a VW engine now days, I just don't see the purpose of going through all that's necessary to change it over... Now with all that being said, I gotta say that you guys have really outdone yourselves. It looks magnificent, it really does. Every step of the job was absolutely professional and the end result is just beautiful. You were even able to maintain it's beautiful stance. I could put a lot more into this, but I'll just say that you've created an awesome custom that any VW fan would just be over the top to own. The pride and passion that was put into this, is truly something to be admired. You certainly have my respect. Thank for sharing this.. Keep up the incredible work....
What genius design. And....and....You guys actually put a manual trans in it. I can't tell you how much I detest really great hot rods with wimped out automatics in them. I worked with Mercedes Benz Road Racing Group for many years. I worked with the German engineers and back in 1982 ,I asked for copies of blueprints for the 1939 and 1955 Mercedes Silver Arrow Formula One monoposto race cars. Many many months later I received them from Stuttgart! I was shocked they actually sent them! I want to finally take the 1939 blueprints and build a widened two seat version. I love the work you guys did!
I have a 97 VW Polo 1.6 and I am having really hard time to fix my gear sticking problem with three different repair shops. These guys made a complete new car.
La verdad, es el mejor video que he visto sobre una restauracion, se que hay trabajos grandiosos, pero este es justamente el tipo de trabajo que uno quiere ver y el producto final es increible !!!
*Ummm, so, you do a 'test' drive, no guards, no tags, no rego, insurance? all on the streets. More balls than a bingo parlor has guys.* When I first saw the painting, that yellow I was like WTF? *"Then" it all made sense when I saw the masking paper come off to reveal that beautiful silver/grey and that combo, BRILLIANT.*
Wow , you put a smile on my face with that genius of an engineering build. I did love the tab system that was beautiful the way you put that together. One of the best hot rods I’ve ever seen, of all time. What was the V-8 that you used? It really had a sound like a180 degree flat crank. like-the sound of a Ferrari. That was extremely well done build. My hats off to you!
Are you talking about the cross plane engine, like in the new Yamaha R1, the Tiger 900 adventure bike with the triple, or the Ford Mustang 5.0L? I am not a fan at all. There are not any performance benefits, only added vibration and a rougher sound, when you use a flat crank or the industry name "cross plane" crank. It's something experimentally used in racing to take away power, and make the engine rougher, so it corners better. But you could just take away 3 degrees of timing and do the same thing! This Beetle sounds AWESOME though. The small 4 cylinder and 3 cylinder bikes DO NOT sound good as a Crossplane.
You just built one of my dream cars. O.M.G. that is such an exquisite Beetle. An engineering marvel. The sub structure is incredible. A simply amazing build. What a little powerhouse. Roll cage I think. Loved this video.
I've seen every engine swap mods on a classic pancake-pushrod-aircooled Beatle imaginable! But this one is the best! Great work fellows! We Americans love cars!
There is all the information you are looking for on my channel. Also v8 stealth beetle has a channel. I am north American distributor and can answer all your questions.
Like this "off the scrap" projects.. it's not just painting and make up, but when people do it from a bottom to the top, it's awesome! Too much fun to see such a beautiful car! :)
JeezUS!!!!! Just pure perfection. The color choice. Drivetrain. Design cues. The whole bit is magical. Possibly the best bug build on YT. Well done sir. Well done.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
I like everything about the conversion except the paint. It should either be a plain paint job or leave it in original condition. It would be a lot more fun on the road.
Watching from Indonesia .... Wow ... Amazing .... Salut salut salut ... so very creatively ... No simple to re-buld up grading that the old car become a new in modified ... Doing hard .... Sungguh luar biasa mengagumkan (amazing) ...
I would hope you wouldn’t “throw away” the chassis, engine, driveline, suspension, etc. The engine looks to be in pretty good condition as well as everything else under the car. Somebody out there would almost certainly want it for parts for their old Beetle, or for a new project built on a Beetle’s chassis. Either way, I hope you gave or sold it at a fair price to a Beetle-loving hobbyist.
Colour makes it look like the old wrapped around by the new, I absolutely love it. Stunning car one of the best if not the best beetle I've ever seen and I live by a VW restoration business. Well done 👍👍👍
@tirapalla The beetle body is pretty strong as it is all curves..being bolted to the skateboard chassis it would be pretty good...also the torque acts mainly on the rear where the engine/trans is...it does not act on the whole length of the car like in a Mustang for example...but still I get your point :-D
Awesome! The initial titling says "Stealth Beetle", but the end of the video when I see the paint job, it is far from "stealth". That paint job says "race beetle"!
When at the traffic lights in the dark, even with that paint job I guess people will still underestimate it, because how many beetles have a V8 in them? :-)
I agree completely, except for the roof rack! Also I would like to have seen better driving footage near the end. I got the feeling I was watching one short clip over and over as if too much was being made of not enough actual footage, and it was all at low speed. I would like to have heard it going by at serious speed, at least the 160 kph that it must easily be capable of achieving in a very few seconds. I wanted to hear that engine under load-after all that is the point of dropping a tubo V8 into the bug in the first place, isn't it?? I want to *see* and *hear* the speed it's capable of. Nice clean execution, though, and I enjoyed the videography for the assembly part of the video.
I'm old enough that I can remember the old VWs when they were new and in fact owned one of the old 6V models (early 1960s). I have never see a roof rack on a Beetle that was on the street, just in magazines (or ads for roof racks). It just never was a thing where I was living. This build looks nice, but it would need air-conditioning where I live. I can remember driving those old Beetles on a hot summer day with no air-conditioning and how the vinyl seats just stuck to your skin and seared it...
Why complain about no info sheila? They’re in it to make money not give away the store. Beautiful car. Those South African beaches at the end are truly paradise.
Very nicely done from a 4 cylinder into an 8-cylinder really impressive. The car sits really nice on those tires and then the frame that you made for it , the rims go well with the look of it being lowered. The European steering wheel on the opposite side . Overall the Volkswagen looks great
In the ‘80’s there was an outfit in Hannover Germany named Arzt , they put a 928 drivetrain and put it where the rearseat of a bug used to be. One big problem though is the terrible aero dynamic shape of a Beetle, an inverted airfoil . Fun to drive @ hi-speed . BTW, those people also took a Golf 2, I believe , cut it in half length wise, widened the body to then transplant it onto a 928 chassis, now that was fun !
Love this thing !!! So cool and clean !!!! Love all the extra little details too !!! Stripes continued inside is one of my favorites !!! Awesome job guys !!! Very jealous in Arizona USA !!!

Love this V8 Stealth Beetle 🐞 that can really fly by some muscle cars!!! Great work!! A "Hell Bug" with a Super Charged Hemi would be phenomenal!! Keep up the great work!!! 🚘
Congrats for the project !!! It's an amazing Beetle !!!!! But I would try to let it a little be more original, too. Should be funniest, I think..... hahaha !!! But..... Fantastic !!! Congratulations, again !!!!!
Note: This isn’t really a “stealth” Beetle- stealth implies that you can’t tell it’s anything special from the outside, so you’d have to have kept the old paint, interior, and wheels (or hubs that look the original). This things is obviously modded at first glance, so it would be called a “restomod” (restoration-modification) or just a mod (I’m not sure where you draw the line on what’s restoration and what’s just stripping and replacing the interior and fresh paint on the shell with new fenders).
Great video but let me ask a question- If your spending 85,000$ US for building this racing beetle- why not just buy a late model Dodge Viper? I love beetles by the way.
Great job. This is the car I have dreamed of. Are there any specifications on it? Weight, weight distribution, horsepower, zero to 60 times, height width and length etc.?
Great to see and very proud this build was done in South Africa 🇿🇦 Well done guys.

The chassis is a work of art 🖼. Someone spent many hours designing that.
Yes, I was sorry they gave no details of the design, or even the engine type.
It would be a beautiful work of art, even with the original engine!

Change the wheels to a more retro look, lose the stripe, add the bumpers and a roof rack and that car would be so sleek
