“Obese” isn’t a slur, it’s a term for someone who is going to die if they don’t change their lifestyle. Supporting overweight and plus sized people is a must, but egging on encouraging the behaviour of obese people (yes, obese people. There is nothing wrong with saying supporting and positive things to a *plus sized person*, the difference is, one is in actual danger and needs to change to stay alive, and the other may have a plethoras oh other issues as to why they’re that size, even that some people’s frames just happen to be larger), but egging them on is so so harmful, because it’s such a common thing to be obese now, which is not good at all, considering the fatality of it and how harmful it is to enable it.

As somebody with an eating disorder I can see what she means when she says practices such as weighing yourself and counting calories could lead to an ED, especially as a young child - such behaviours could indeed lead to a disordered, limiting mindset with thoughts like "I can't eat that, that has too many calories" or feeling anxious about the number on the scale going up. But the rest of what she said was definitely bullshit. :p
PS: I think having students weighing themselves in a school setting is absolutely not needed and traumatic, especially if it's in front of everybody else. I know that I myself would feel incredibly uncomfortable if I was told I had to do that. Things like that are the responsibility of the child's medical professional, not a school setting where the child may face humiliation and start to compare themselves to others, leading to lower self esteem and feeling less worthy than their thinner peers.

I love how her perspective is of someone who lives in a first world country, where she can eat anything, whenever, and of course the social asistance and medical support that really works.
I want to see his face when he realizes that there are countries without enough food or without social security. Where people are fit not by personal choice, people simply starve to death.
Maybe in the United States food is cheap and easy to get, but it is not a reason to eat a lot. A heart attack is not funny. And all the health care for the fat is paid by people that she hate so much.
I live in Venezuela and here food is not cheap, here food is a fucking privilege, even internet is cheap compared to food, my internet for a month only costs one loaf, yes one loaf.
I am only eating 2 times a day.
And you know what? My health sucks, I have prediabetes and my blood pressure is always high thanks to my poor diet. I'm not even obese, actually I am a normal size, with an extra normal weight.
The cheapest food here is the poor quality, the most salty, sweet and greasy. So, I eat that or I starve. I would love to have all the healthy options that she ignores because she is "body positive."
and I would be really happy to have the same health as her or the fact that she doesn't have diabetes or anything like that.
It's amazing that she doesn't have any of that. So I'm going to assume she's lucky she hasn't had a heart attack yet.
You have no idea how much I hate these kinds of people. Not only do they assume that the rest of us can afford extra food or clothing or medical care, they actually assume that the rest of us have the same health and that we can eat all that shit around.
The truth is that for some of us being fit is not just an option, it is a damn necessity if you want to stay alive.

I watched this video about a month ago, thought nothing of it then, but it's been on my mind as of late. You said in this video that you don't think weighing yourself leads to eating disorders. It does, it happens a lot, especially for someone like myself with social anxiety, or anything that follows that line. I wouldn't expect you to understand, given that you said earlier in the video that you aren't fat. Quite ironically, the one Fair point she made was the one you considered most outlandish. I had to stop going to school for half of the school year because every PE lesson, we had to sport (obviously), and I was the only fat person in that class, i don't *run* anymore because I feel that people point and laugh because I'm a fat guy and fat guys jiggle when they run. I was constantly eating miniscule amounts of food and then going to the bathroom and throwing it up because I wanted to be skinnier. I still do want to be skinny, but I can't do anything to help myself as of now. That one point she made that you said was the worst could save fucking lives, you prick.

i agree with almost all of this post! though i will say around 7:15, you talked about how weighing yourself doesnt lead to ED's and while this is true for the most part there are situations where people are told a blank weight(that isnt all that unhealthy) is rlly bad and theyre overweight/underweight, or the person can trick themself into believing their over/under weight even if their not bc of the scale. do i think we should get rid of scales completely and say cursed to checking where you are, no. but i am correcting a small misunderstanding/nm i hope you dont take this the wrong way

Weighing yourself is technically how an eating disorder starts, but it’s not just the act of weighing yourself that starts the disorder. It’s a long combination of low self esteem and food intake (Along with other psychological factors) The knowledge of your exact weight could (or will) trigger the response of eating less (or nothing at all)
However if you aren’t having issues with body image or anything around that area you should be completely fine when weighing yourself

They want to talk about white, western privilege, what’s a greater example of that than gorging yourself while the whole fucking world burns!? But no, it’s we who criticize her for her lack of respect for herself and others who are to blame for reinforcing colonialist hegemony. It's to make sure that each side is even with the weight. There's hardly any girls in my class and it was supposed to be freshman girls vs sophomore girls vs junior girls vs senior girls. We didn't have enough weight so some of the guys in our class were assigned to help us meet the other team's weight to make it fair. We still lost.
