No requiem does really help with the plot points and fits into character as Eren is a guy willing to risk his life and others in order to kill off all his enemies and ensure his people survive what a gigachad. Armin is a guy that will always care about his friends and is a brave smart man that believes to end conflict we must rejoice and this is so much into character for these two. Hope this gets animated.
Liked armin in the anime for 3 seasons. Logical guy,caring about his friends at the same time and more brave than anyone. Armin final arc cant even think of anything,makes no sense questions and just cares about mikasa and annie and I started to hate him. After reading this I can see the real version of Armin,really liked the points he made to convince Eren.
That's why I hate r/yeagerbomb and their thinly vieled racism and misogyny (ArMONG, MANKasa), etc. The characters were truly brilliant, a few dogshit final chapters doesnt make their entire character arc and plot worthless. Why did Isayama degrade his own story so much we may neer know, but its beyond a doubt that the man had woven some of the best characters and dynamics in manga until that point.

After s3 ended I started to dislike Armin when I started reading the manga not because of his actions or personality but because of how he changed from s1. The armin we knew was the most logical person in a dangerous/preassure situation and he would put his own life to stop a cannon shot for his friends and seeing him,confronting Eren with goat arguments and willing to kill his best friend is what really makes him one of the best aot characters after reading this fan ending.
i did not expect Armin char to get rescued after how low it fell lol. That was a nice surprise. I thought it as all over but it cleaned it by like 60 percent. The failed armin still left a bad taste.

Some years ago Isayama had planned a different ending but after some time his editors were making decisions about which character should be killed and where the story should go. After those 130 chapter they started to rush the story and thats why any person with some brain cells can see the quality of writting and dialogues decreased.
The excellent Eremin ideology battle and the long-awaited Erehisu convo's conclusion aside, my favorite detail's gotta be goddamned Floch being the best man in Eren and Historia's -barn- forest seggs.
I just took it as them all meeting to decide on the plan for how it would all go down. EHF is the meme trio so they probably wanted to include it just a bit, and the juxtaposition in the original chapter having the Floch scene paired with the Historia flashback is a good enough reason to do something with it here.

He would often look on social media sites to see if people were close to finding out his would be ending before Manga ended. Sure he has millions eventually people get used to the money and in the end the one thing that gives them real meaning the thing that fills their artist spirit is what they created because that is all you leave behind when you die. You do not take the money with you. You are immortalized through your creative projects. He DOES care what people think trust me. He spent years on this it's his baby. To say he doesn't care and it does not phase him to hear all criticisms of what he made is ignorant and untrue.

I liked where the original ending was going but......they messed up eren and armin's talk,ymir story was just disgusting to read,floch and historia were wasted because rushing things and mikasa's whole character came out of nowhere after being so irrelevant during 130 chapters so.... I can say that what Isayama had planned wasnt bad but was really poorly executed. If the ending was good like all 139 defenders are saying then why so many people dislike it? A good ending gives a conclusion to the story and characters while being truth to his own plot and themes and that didnt feel really good when reading 139.
I honestly don’t even like Attack On Titan at all let alone the garbage heap that was Chapter 139. Attack On Titan altogether was one of the worst told stories I’ve ever seen in my life. I at least will give respect that The AOT No Requiem team was willing to fix and rewrite the final part of the series and make it a lot better than it was. You get no disagreement from me on this. The drawings are very nice. But narratively it doesn't really have shit to do with Isayama's story. And Eren's character was completely turned around. As a "what if" it fits. But if they think they are "fixing" the work, as they had previously written and then later cancelled... well, they haven't understood anything, because there is nothing coherent about it

I love how the team incorporated the smiling Hange panel from 130 which was never used by Isayama in canon. (Further proof Isayama retconned the ending). Btw, Armin is the definite MVP of this one. He proved himself as a man of convictions just like Eren and not just "muh we are your friends, what about Mikasa".

I am an Eremika shipper but I love ANR. And I think there is a misconception that every EM shipper loves the original ending. But i saw lot of Eremika shippers including myself who hate the original ending but love Anr. If we just keep the shipping thing aside I think anyone will say ANR better than the original ending.

Imagine working on a series for years isayama at that point is basically tired and is pushing the last bit of strength he has to end the story plus there's the pressure from the honchos on his back.
To paraphrase Eren's lines from the anime version: Because he's an idiot. Just a regular idiot given the power to write a popular series. That's why 139 was the only conclusion he could come up with. But honestly, he's a good writer (we've seen it in past chapters). I think he was rushed somewhat. That's the only real conclusion I can come to. That, and the fact that he's never written an ending to a series before. His inexperience in tying things together really showed in 139. Fortunately, we have the Requiem team to help pick up the slack.
Every time I think I'm setting myself up for disappointment because of my insanely high expectations.. the AoTnR team blows them away anyway. What an absolutely refreshing chapter - I got mad chills. THIS is how I wanted AoT's ending to feel. Thank you AoTnR team, it was worth the wait! :D I'm glad I read the chapter with the Hype King Saint. I look forward to more content man. You're just so expressive and intellectually sharp. P.S. The dub isn't as bad as the chat was claiming.
God this chapter was amazing! I'm not surprised that the people on r/ShingekiNoKyojin are shitting on this ending though, the majority of people on that subreddit are EreMika fans. Some of their criticisms are valid, but I've also seen a lot of stupid ones too. The writing and depth that the AOT no Requiem team gave to Eren and Armin in this chapter was amazing and something that I would've expected from Isayama back during chapter 131 when his writing was still great. The addition to the EreHisu development also works and makes sense compared to EreMika too. I've seen people on the r/ShingekiNoKyojin say that the romance came out of nowhere or was cringy, and that's a tad bit true since romance before chapters 137-139 wasn't the main focus of AOT, yet they defend EreMika for some weird reason even though the reason they got together made almost 0 sense. It makes a lot more sense for EreHisu to have actually have been canon based off the actual events from the original and I'm glad that they're going through with what should've been. Overall this is a 10/10 chapter. Amazing art, great writing, the characters actually feel like themselves again for once, and not to mention how beautiful the background music is! This was the best gift for my birthday today, it's just incredible!! Keep being amazing AOT no Requiem team!!

To clear up the confusion, the Historia portion is made up of multiple flashbacks. There are actually two separate conversations at the farm. The first is when Historia and Eren have forest seggs, you can tell them apart from the more canonical "You're the worst girl in the world." portion from chapter 130 because the canon panels are not slanted while the other ones are. The Hange flashback is a callback to one of the Path Shards we see Eren have (Hange's tearful but happy expression) and gives you the basis of Eren and Historia's relationship which is connected to canon at that point. Same thing applies with the Floch conversation, it's slanted so it is a flashback from before the 130 conversation. The canonical flashback in ANR has the already pregnant Historia choose Eren over the rest of the world. Why she's pregnant is most likely because since she knew her future partners would be chosen for her by following the 50 year plan, she wanted her first child to be with the man she trusted the most. Out of the entire flashback sequence, it is the most recent of the occurrences.
thats what im looking for. A real argument and despute between two character with the same goal but different ways of doing it showing both their resolve and stance no matter what the outcome may be. You know like irl war and battle of ideologies. To the winner the spoils or to the smartest or strongest the spoils whatever battle it is. Both path can be right or understandable but there can only be one winner in a challenge or race. with a nice flashback and a touch of romance and memory. I like how historia remembered Ymir and Frieda with her in danger of bein alone and have to burden everything. She lost her life by becoming queen. her service is to the people. Eren and the squad too. they join the survey their life was no longer theirs. like in the army . They both faced with what they think is best for their people and ready to go through hell. Just like irl the soldiers lay down their lives and put it on the line for their country for hopes of a brighter tomorrow. Neither side is right but i can understand both side and fighting for what you believe in is always brave. Fighting against hatred, oppression, discrimination etc. Everything is a battle whether physically or mentally. Life is filled with up and downs and challenges and hard choices. Its never easy but you still get up in the morning and do what you need to to survive and live your life. Everyone has something their fighting for. They brought out points fandom ben making. especially about the lives dying for nothing. Also i think should not dwell in the past. Those lives die for the future. Its up to the ones in the present to decide how the future will be though. Keep moving forward you cant remain stagnant forever, eventually it will catch up and overtake you like a flood and you wont be able to stop it. Letting it build up with no real progress. When something doesn't work why persist. IF it worked so well then the things that happened irl wouldn't have. It took people changing how they do things when something is not working. This actually made armin character tolerable. Armin is back. This is fan made but they did Armin justice. good job.
Man even the farm boy being a plot device to give Historia more time, which i still dont like as an idea, made so much sense here than the original canon! Not some random dude pops out of no where at the end and be the father just cuz, and be absolutely irrelevant. Unless I misinterpreted that panel and it was actually Eren and Historia doing it at the barn in the forest-- What matters to me is that this part of the story was given backstory on WHY it should makes sense, whether i like it or not. This really says that Hajime Isayama was absolutely pressured by the fans to rush the story and put to many plot holes while retconning some characters. edit: Reread the chapter again and saw closely that it was Zeke mostly involved going into the forest and the barn boy seems like a cover up instead. So now im interpreting this as Eren and Historia doing it themselves to make the plan real.

I'd prefer no love interest for eren but the whole mikasa character is literally Ereh so i dont know how are they gonna redeem her. While armin really stepped up. Aot no requiem really upgraded Eren and Armin.

Small detail: In the Floch scene, Floch objects because Eren couldn't sacrifice Armin to save the devil, Erwin. This was paid off when Eren says, "I don't want to fight my best friend." Despite what critics say, AnR is far from being some Eren power fantasy glorifying him as some 'heartless Chad' who fucks bitches and commits genocide. It shows that Eren is still very much human, and his plan is far from glorified.
Tbh I had given up on AoT like a great story with an irredeemable ending like GoT, but the amazing folk in the AoTnr team are still making me feel things I felt back when I still loved the canon story. The dialogue fits, characters are actually behaving the way they have been portayed over the entire story, nothing feels out of place, they are even managing to weave previously established plot points in new and interesting ways! This surpassed even my highest expectations, my brain is already treating this as canon now

Why did Isayama degrade his own story so much we may neer know, but its beyond a doubt that the man had woven some of the best characters and dynamics in manga until that point.
It feels weird being able to respect Armin again. The Requiem team are working miracles!

Ehhh respect is too far, this at least stays true to his hypocritical character. He betrayed Eren and he’s still thinking only about himself, he doesn’t want to be prospering from this terrible act so he’s trying to stop Eren. Armin honestly should just kill himself, and I mean that from the fact that his main problem isn’t even that Erens doing it, it’s that he just doesn’t want to be living good knowing that the rumbling is why he is. He basically just doesn’t want the rumbling on his conscience because it’d be like blood money.
So at that point if he’s not contributing anything but his soft opinion then he should just die imo 🤷♂️. Plus even through this argument they were having, it stays true to how Armin has become selfish and hypocritical as he just completely keeps ignoring Erens points and just picks and chooses what to respond to to try and cause Eren to slip up. Armin is not right, he’s just a great arguer

Was not expecting Armin's character to get redeemed the way it did in this chapter. It felt the Armin I respected and liked had come back.
After s3 ended I started to dislike Armin when I started reading the manga not because of his actions or personality but because of how he changed from s1.
The armin we knew was the most logical person in a dangerous/preassure situation and he would put his own life to stop a cannon shot for his friends and seeing him,confronting Eren with goat arguments and willing to kill his best friend is what really makes him one of the best aot characters after reading this fan ending.
i did not expect Armin char to get rescued after how low it fell lol. That was a nice surprise. I thought it as all over but it cleaned it by like 60 percent. The failed armin still left a bad taste.

Some years ago Isayama had planned a different ending but after some time his editors were making decisions about which character should be killed and where the story should go.
After those 130 chapter they started to rush the story and thats why any person with some brain cells can see the quality of writting and dialogues decreased.

I just took it as them all meeting to decide on the plan for how it would all go down. EHF is the meme trio so they probably wanted to include it just a bit, and the juxtaposition in the original chapter having the Floch scene paired with the Historia flashback is a good enough reason to do something with it here.

I love how the team incorporated the smiling Hange panel from 130 which was never used by Isayama in canon. (Further proof Isayama retconned the ending). Btw, Armin is the definite MVP of this one. He proved himself as a man of convictions just like Eren and not just "muh we are your friends, what about Mikasa".

Imagine working on a series for years isayama at that point is basically tired and is pushing the last bit of strength he has to end the story plus there's the pressure from the honchos on his back.
To paraphrase Eren's lines from the anime version:
Because he's an idiot. Just a regular idiot given the power to write a popular series. That's why 139 was the only conclusion he could come up with.
But honestly, he's a good writer (we've seen it in past chapters). I think he was rushed somewhat. That's the only real conclusion I can come to. That, and the fact that he's never written an ending to a series before. His inexperience in tying things together really showed in 139. Fortunately, we have the Requiem team to help pick up the slack.
Every time I think I'm setting myself up for disappointment because of my insanely high expectations.. the AoTnR team blows them away anyway. What an absolutely refreshing chapter - I got mad chills. THIS is how I wanted AoT's ending to feel. Thank you AoTnR team, it was worth the wait! :D

God this chapter was amazing! I'm not surprised that the people on r/ShingekiNoKyojin are shitting on this ending though, the majority of people on that subreddit are EreMika fans. Some of their criticisms are valid, but I've also seen a lot of stupid ones too. The writing and depth that the AOT no Requiem team gave to Eren and Armin in this chapter was amazing and something that I would've expected from Isayama back during chapter 131 when his writing was still great. The addition to the EreHisu development also works and makes sense compared to EreMika too. I've seen people on the r/ShingekiNoKyojin say that the romance came out of nowhere or was cringy, and that's a tad bit true since romance before chapters 137-139 wasn't the main focus of AOT, yet they defend EreMika for some weird reason even though the reason they got together made almost 0 sense. It makes a lot more sense for EreHisu to have actually have been canon based off the actual events from the original and I'm glad that they're going through with what should've been.
Overall this is a 10/10 chapter. Amazing art, great writing, the characters actually feel like themselves again for once, and not to mention how beautiful the background music is! This was the best gift for my birthday today, it's just incredible!! Keep being amazing AOT no Requiem team!!

To clear up the confusion, the Historia portion is made up of multiple flashbacks.
There are actually two separate conversations at the farm. The first is when Historia and Eren have forest seggs, you can tell them apart from the more canonical "You're the worst girl in the world." portion from chapter 130 because the canon panels are not slanted while the other ones are. The Hange flashback is a callback to one of the Path Shards we see Eren have (Hange's tearful but happy expression) and gives you the basis of Eren and Historia's relationship which is connected to canon at that point. Same thing applies with the Floch conversation, it's slanted so it is a flashback from before the 130 conversation.
The canonical flashback in ANR has the already pregnant Historia choose Eren over the rest of the world. Why she's pregnant is most likely because since she knew her future partners would be chosen for her by following the 50 year plan, she wanted her first child to be with the man she trusted the most. Out of the entire flashback sequence, it is the most recent of the occurrences.

thats what im looking for. A real argument and despute between two character with the same goal but different ways of doing it showing both their resolve and stance no matter what the outcome may be. You know like irl war and battle of ideologies. To the winner the spoils or to the smartest or strongest the spoils whatever battle it is. Both path can be right or understandable but there can only be one winner in a challenge or race. with a nice flashback and a touch of romance and memory. I like how historia remembered Ymir and Frieda with her in danger of bein alone and have to burden everything. She lost her life by becoming queen. her service is to the people. Eren and the squad too. they join the survey their life was no longer theirs. like in the army . They both faced with what they think is best for their people and ready to go through hell. Just like irl the soldiers lay down their lives and put it on the line for their country for hopes of a brighter tomorrow. Neither side is right but i can understand both side and fighting for what you believe in is always brave. Fighting against hatred, oppression, discrimination etc. Everything is a battle whether physically or mentally. Life is filled with up and downs and challenges and hard choices. Its never easy but you still get up in the morning and do what you need to to survive and live your life. Everyone has something their fighting for. They brought out points fandom ben making. especially about the lives dying for nothing. Also i think should not dwell in the past. Those lives die for the future. Its up to the ones in the present to decide how the future will be though. Keep moving forward you cant remain stagnant forever, eventually it will catch up and overtake you like a flood and you wont be able to stop it. Letting it build up with no real progress. When something doesn't work why persist. IF it worked so well then the things that happened irl wouldn't have. It took people changing how they do things when something is not working.
This actually made armin character tolerable. Armin is back. This is fan made but they did Armin justice. good job.

Man even the farm boy being a plot device to give Historia more time, which i still dont like as an idea, made so much sense here than the original canon! Not some random dude pops out of no where at the end and be the father just cuz, and be absolutely irrelevant. Unless I misinterpreted that panel and it was actually Eren and Historia doing it at the barn in the forest--
What matters to me is that this part of the story was given backstory on WHY it should makes sense, whether i like it or not. This really says that Hajime Isayama was absolutely pressured by the fans to rush the story and put to many plot holes while retconning some characters.
edit: Reread the chapter again and saw closely that it was Zeke mostly involved going into the forest and the barn boy seems like a cover up instead.
So now im interpreting this as Eren and Historia doing it themselves to make the plan real.

Aotnr team would need to change Mikasa somewhat to make childhood friendship like that break(like how they did with eren vs armin)

Small detail: In the Floch scene, Floch objects because Eren couldn't sacrifice Armin to save the devil, Erwin. This was paid off when Eren says, "I don't want to fight my best friend."
Despite what critics say, AnR is far from being some Eren power fantasy glorifying him as some 'heartless Chad' who fucks bitches and commits genocide. It shows that Eren is still very much human, and his plan is far from glorified.
Tbh I had given up on AoT like a great story with an irredeemable ending like GoT, but the amazing folk in the AoTnr team are still making me feel things I felt back when I still loved the canon story. The dialogue fits, characters are actually behaving the way they have been portayed over the entire story, nothing feels out of place, they are even managing to weave previously established plot points in new and interesting ways! This surpassed even my highest expectations, my brain is already treating this as canon now
We are free to choose this as our cannon ending. People already did that with a death note one.
