This chapter is much-much-much better than the last canon ones just because: - armin is back, not thanking eren for the genocide and not a hypocrite + has a character developed - mikasa interacts with connie (like, they hardly talk to each other and fight together), thinks about OTHERS and defeats titans NOT on her own - eren remains the boy who sought freedom - zeke doesn't get influenced by talk no jutsu - the alliance is running out of blades and gas - plot armor is broken: jean suffered - connie is finally useful
Agreed. For me, the longer dialogs also make a huge difference. The original was too vague and left too much open for interpretation. Characters need to have a clear stance to be engaging.
The relationship of Armin and Annie is fan service, no need to mention how disgraceful, degenerate and unnecessary that part was, Armin's character is still not completely what he truly is as long as they show their relationship. AOT doesn't need such cheap tricks to convey their story, IMHO, I still don't consider that cannon.

Of course they're not in love (he got in her way; she destroyed his home, made him immigrate, killed his comrades and hundreds of civilians, was responsible for Trost and stohes mess). Annie must have had a redemption arc: sacrifice herself for armin or someone else / watch her dad die / find out mr. Leonhart is dead / kill him to defend herself when he became a titan / be eaten by him after he became a monster / pass away during the battle against eren

the best part of armin's character development is how seamlessy it was done. a few months ago, i showed someone the entire aot manga with music playing in the background. we read AOTNR instead of 137-139, and we were talking about armin's character growth, and how he went from yelling at his body about how he's useless and never gave anyone anything in return for erwin's sacrifice to choosing to take a stand and be better. my friend was shocked to learn that armin's breakdown was from 136, not aotnr, and that the writers made it work so seamlessly.

Apparently many people saying Jean did in fact die, if you go back to where the titans " stop and stare at him" he yells "EREN" and theres the Attack titan in the distance so... we will see ... also i think that the titans stopped cause Eren was giving Armin a choice/chance to leave and go back and let him finish the Rumbling and when Armin said NO for the last time Eren said something along the lines of " Fine have it your way" and lifted his hand, and i think that is probably the moment in the real world where the titans restart aka go back to fighting and he kills Jean... we will find out in the next part tho but that's my theory... also there's many call backs i've noticed especially Zekes "So you will go on and die like proud soldiers" similar to his season 3 finale "proud chunks of meat" that he said to Commander Erwin and others charging... also i think it goes back to the Season 1 like when Eren was riling everybody up, the fresh recruits and they started dropping dead one by one i think i see a bit of that with the Armin's hopeful "i'm gonna be the one to stop Eren" type of thing going like he has a plan and we hear Zekes words and bam Jean drops dead, i love the parallels and how they understood Isayamas writing and are literally putting it on paper it feels as tho as this is the real Isayama's ending that he always wanted to give us

Something that hasn't been talked about that much: LEVI. This is Levi's debut in AOTNR, and the team nailed his usual blunt, deadpan dad jokes and penchant for toilet humour. I'm hetero, but Levi is fucking sexy here, and he doesn't make a meme of himself with his 'where monke' shtick. It was also nice to see him interact more with Gabi and Falco, which makes their little family in 139 even cuter. I'm actually sad that their little family probably won't happen in AOTNR.

After we saw that panel, we all know Titans began moving again. 2-Annie,Armin,Connie,Levi,Mikasa,Gabi were on Falco titan. We all know Pieck doesn’t use 3D Gears. Reiner has short hair. So, the only one who has long hair,use 3D gears and wasn’t on Falco at the moment was Jean.

A small detail, when Jean stops and looks at the Titans thinking "Eren?" You can see what seems to be Eren's Titan standing at the front of the group of Titans
Now that's keeping it real, let's be honest the only reason why they had it easy with titans before was because of strat and having the initiative. Them jumping into the unknown with basically aberrant titans of past titan shifters is literally suicidal, the only ones who could survive are Akermans and titan shifters, not people like Jean or Connie. Glad we actually see the consequences now, refreshing AF.

I have an idea for the final battle where Armin, Reiner, and Zeke infiltrate the paths dimension to confront Eren directly and kill Ymir. My reasoning would be that Ymirs soul is trapped in the paths dimension and therefore not fully dead, so if they kill her in the paths, they stop the rumbling and then eren will be the only person left to fight. The three of them go into erens mind somehow and they do some crazy stranger things like mind fight and ymir ends up dead. The rumbling stops, eren emerges with his attack titan trying to restart the rumbling, big fight happens bada bam bada boom eren dead alliance win
The Titans are going to be more tactful while fighting now. Which means they're going to be harder to fight. Like you said Eren is not holding back anymore.

personally, for me, the manga is the true version of the story and i've never cared much for the adaptation, though it's pretty good. I just want this so that i can have the actual ending to the manga i love to re-read every once in a while, instead of 139's retcon trash
I like it , I can some what understand the idea of the final chapter of everyone sticking to their ideals , Eren trusting his friends , armin wanting peace , but it was delivered horribly imo , only part I truly enjoyed was the island being destroyed with the idea that if you can’t sacrifice anything you can’t change the world , aotnr so far I like it but I wonder what they are going for cause they are just changing the final chapters , are they going to change or develop the Eren who said he’s doing it for his friends ? Unfortunately people were paying left and right to have him either read or watch HxH on Sunday so he’s gonna be read a lot of HxH. I spent a bit for him to read a chapter or 2 of Dandadan so hopefully Sunday won’t be all HxH

In my opinion it's not. The panel is supposed to be during the time Eren is talking to Armin, trying to convince him. Eren has never, even now, given up hope to convince his friends to stop resisting and go along with his plan. It is completely logical to assume that while he tries to convince Armin, at the same time, he reduces the intensity of the attack on the rest of the scouts. If he manages to convince Armin, he might be able to stop the rest of the alliance and his friends won't have to die. If not... Well, that was Jean at the last panel right?

I have an idea for the final battle where Armin, Reiner, and Zeke infiltrate the paths dimension to confront Eren directly and kill Ymir. My reasoning would be that Ymirs soul is trapped in the paths dimension and therefore not fully dead, so if they kill her in the paths, they stop the rumbling and then eren will be the only person left to fight. The three of them go into erens mind somehow and they do some crazy stranger things like mind fight and ymir ends up dead. The rumbling stops, eren emerges with his attack titan trying to restart the rumbling, big fight happens bada bam bada boom eren dead alliance win

I like it , I can some what understand the idea of the final chapter of everyone sticking to their ideals , Eren trusting his friends , armin wanting peace , but it was delivered horribly imo , only part I truly enjoyed was the island being destroyed with the idea that if you can’t sacrifice anything you can’t change the world , aotnr so far I like it but I wonder what they are going for cause they are just changing the final chapters , are they going to change or develop the Eren who said he’s doing it for his friends ? In my opinion it's not. The panel is supposed to be during the time Eren is talking to Armin, trying to convince him. Eren has never, even now, given up hope to convince his friends to stop resisting and go along with his plan.
It is completely logical to assume that while he tries to convince Armin, at the same time, he reduces the intensity of the attack on the rest of the scouts.
If he manages to convince Armin, he might be able to stop the rest of the alliance and his friends won't have to die. If not... Well, that was Jean at the last panel right?
