  • After a recent adventure into Queensland, on the drive back I encountered Tropical Fruit World and all the delights they had to offer. I haven't tried any of these tropical fruits before, let's see how they go!

Good you had a chance to visit TFW, I love their market! I’m a big fan of green sapote too, and it’s quite cold tolerant. The seed is probably ok, they tend to start germinating inside the fruit, the outer shell cracks. Mine was like that and now I have a seedling. Canistel grew on me, on first impression it’s hard to get past the texture but after a while it is quite moorish and you come back for more.

Maybe I will chuck it in some dirt and see if it does anything, although now that I have grown a taste for it I might try and source a more established plant rather than wait 5-7 years. That canistel texture is really something else, I cant think of any fruit that is similar

That was a really interesting video - took me a long while to watch it because I had to google ‘tropical fruit world’ part way through to confirm where my next holiday will be located 🤣.
Felix is a cutie - he’s so lucky that you visited tropical fruit world instead of ‘Brussel sprout world’ 😉

The whole area is beautiful it was around Byron Bay and I will definitely be going back they seem to have tours and everything, also it gave me a good idea about how large some of these trees actually get, espcially the avos and mangos

Hope you found some good properties to look at. All those fruits grow well in Brisbane, just need some patience!

Id love to see Felix with Lucuma {wet & dry type} in that Sapote mix - canistel will get better and moist left alot longer
Id love to move but logistics too tough - im attempting a new cold tolerant Papaya soon.

The logistics of moving is the hardest part, just trying to make everything work, plus the stress !

@@LiveLoveCanberra thanks Nathan better than the last few years. Trust yours was wonderful- certainly would be travelling to Byron Bay and Brisbane. Little Felix is adorable!! It's quite a change going from Canberra to Brisbane- you won't know yourself. You can go crazy on fruit tree growing

Lol glad you tested the fruits out on Felix first in case any of them were astringent 😂😂🤪🤪.
I love kids, their unbiased honesty is so much more refreshing than adults lol, I always think egg fruits are a pretty dodgy texture. Those sapodilla have to have wrinkled skin to be properly ripe or they'll be pretty astringent

The most trusting of guinea pigs :) I will wait until their skins wrinkle right up and give them a shot

Are you able to buy a house, I don't know your situation as at moment so hard to rent anywhere but if you can buy you maybe even be able to get a good buy with some land so shop around and see what is going.sometimes ppl who really want to sell quick will take a good chunk off. Always wanted to go to that tropical world near the border of NSW/ QLD want to try some tropical fruits esp sapote Hi I am in Albury

I thought it would be much easier to purchase than it has been, the continued interest rate rises definitely do not help either! I have never spent much time in Albury, just driving through to Melbourne occasionally, and not for many years!
