One of my favourite episodes of TV is season 7 episode 1 of The Walking Dead. After a 6 month long cliff hanger the show would return to reveal what would happen in the adaption of that iconic comic scene. But after seeing what happened after that amazing episode and what it all lead to, instead of having Maggie and Hershel, I would rather have Glenn in the story. In this video I ask the question of what if Glenn survived and breakdown the entire story of The Walking Dead from the line up, when Rick Grimes left all the way to The Walking Dead season 11 where Rick Grimes returns and teases the new Walking Dead spin off shows such as the Rick Grimes and Michonne show, The Ones Who Live and the crossover of all of the shows coming up including Fear The Walking Dead season 8 when it ends. This is what I think would happen if Glenn was still alive in the The Walking Dead universe today. This is what we could see in The Walking Dead Destinies too.

Saving Glenn and Maggie but keeping that hatred.
Glenn is taken, not daryl.
Baby Herschel is lost.
Maggie joins Sasha and goes after negan is being captured, and Maggie becomes negans #? Wife.
This creates a level of hatred and loss similar.

Always thought Glenn surviving would have better development than Maggie... Glenn was a good soul,it would be great seeing him becoming something different,and darker...
But that’s exactly what happened with Maggie? They fell in love with each other because they were both good, pure souls always willing to go out in the wild to help their group. I feel like it would’ve been the same except Hershel never would have been born and Glenn might not have lead or built up Hilltop

Maggie had an edge from the start. She was caring but she could also be cold and mean. Glenn didn't really exhibit microagressions like she did. I think for a lot of people, the person Maggie turned into was expected but not so much if it were Glen. I really think Glen's development would have been far more interesting to watch. @@SunJade-vr6nj
Thats the only way it would have worked, to end her instead.. Would be more believable if Glen was more forgiving to Negan than Maggie, her character was so full of hate and became annoying and im glad you basically said that, I dont know how she is so liked
That ending with Glenn finally getting the dodge challenger back would have been a perfect ending for the character like him just driving off into the sunset would have been so perfect.
It could even be the final scene/shot of the show in this hypothetical what If scenario.

Glenn had so much potential. He had just taken his first lives, and did it in a horrific way. Even a development in friendship with Heath since Glenn was the one who took those lives instead of Heath. Honestly, Glenn's character would've been so interesting to see grow.
Half way through the video and I gotta say your editing is incredible. I’d love to see a vengeful Glenn. I think he would have been unstoppable if Negan killed Maggie. And I love the storyline of him teaming up with characters like Sasha.
I would have rather seen Maggie go and Glenn remain. His character went down hill after hooking up with Maggie in my opinion. I think that’s why people continue to like Daryl because it’s none of that sappy love stuff with him. He’s about his business.

Imagine if Shane survived but he took off after season 2. At the line up at season 7 Negan says tells Rick hes got a suprise for him than you hear a voice "Let me ask ya sumthn Rick..."
Yeah that would be cool what if he never reanimated and carl never shot him his fate wouldve never be known
it would kinda take away the spotlight from Negan tho, that was his debut scene
Negan beating a Pregnant Maggie to death would have resulted in Negan NEVER having the option of Redemption. Glenn would NEVER have forgiven Negan. Glenn would NEVER have forgiven Rick for letting it happen. Glenn wouldn't be Glenn anymore. He would have gotten himself killed afterwards. His ENTIRE story revolved around his new family.
I don't think Maggie dying would have been the right call. I do think Abraham needed to die at the Line Up. But I think Storywise, the 2nd kill probably should have gone to Aaron 💀 just because he matters the least in the long run of the show. Glenn surviving to Lead Hiltop with Maggie would have been the best outcome.
In mean, Ellie in The Last of Us, is still very well liked & loved. Especially if the show shows Negan struggling with the aftermath of killing a pregnant woman - I definitely think that the writers would find a way to redeem him.

I needed this for my soul. No show ever broke something in me as hard as Glenn’s death did. I can’t get over it and this is just so nice imagining him being there the entire show. My absolute favorite 😢
3:50 with Glenn being knocked out for this version of the lineup, it would've been tragic to see Glenn when Rick and Negan come back in the RV. Glenn, awake for nobody know how long, just shellshocked and staring at what was Maggie and Abraham
What I would’ve done as I would’ve waited and not killed Tyrese when they did and I would’ve had Tyreese and Abraham die at the lineup instead and have have Negan take Glenn as a prisoner instead of Daryl.
This would’ve been interesting because it would’ve brought Maggie and Sasha closer together, and it would’ve made Sasha’s sacrifice at the end of the season even bigger. Also, it would’ve hardened Glenn more and developed him even, and it would’ve given him all the more reason to want to break out
Ive also thought of that because i felt lile persons like Abraham,Tyreese,Bob and T Dog had so much potential.
I think it definitely would have been more interesting for this timeline, and there were actually unreleased script leaks of Glenn surviving up to episode 6(season 7) while Maggie died in that lineup.
Supposedly he was depressed and wanting to commit suicide(he didn't, but the scripts never went further than this episode)
I think it was a direction the writers were wanting to go with since the show never really went the route of the comics, however Steven Yeun was ready to leave and so Gimple agreed to just take a page from the comics for once and go through with his death.
This was so fantastic. Absolutely loved the editing in this and where it took the story. Do kindof wish we got vengeful Glenn rather then Bitter Maggie (or at least a better written version of Maggie's story post Glenn) in hindsight, but yeah. Great video, as always. Can't wait for your what if Rick stayed video. I also have a suggestion for a video.

I honestly like this better bro...i always said, they did glenns death perfectly, but i always felt like since they definitely have strayed away from the comics numerous times, it would have been cool to see them stray away in s7 ep 1 and keep glenn alive, would love to see how it played out and i guess this is the most likely situation
I know its a necessity to be able to use the clips but shaven hair glenn works well because of his comic appearance, anyway this is the timeline i wish we had and also i think itd be really funny if they brought glenn back to life and just said "crm kidnapped him" also the video is goose approved
Really amazing video and edited clips. It almost looked like an alternate timeline in certain parts. Also in your fanfiction, I think Glenn ending up as the one in Dwight's place to get shot by Rick in the Commonwealth story arc would've been fitting. I think it would've been a great and tragic end to the character. Going from an optimistic, innocent, and naive guy to an unstable person with dangerous ptsd breakdowns, would have been a heartbreaking story.

Pretty sure Glenn was actually the 1st death they decided on. That was one thing they always wanted to keep the same as the comics and so did Glenn, he wanted that to happen
Glenn is one of my 2 favorite characters. It would have been amazing to see him live past the lineup, but I think it was always destined to be. Can’t be too mad at the showrunners for keeping that part from the comics.

It's nowhere near as big a deal but I was always a little annoyed that they killed T-Dog off, so soon before Merle briefly rejoined the group and robbed us of a call back to the rooftop in season 1.
This was fantastic the editing the story telling just perfect all around.
Here’s the thing. So many people quit watching after Glenn was killed because it went too far for them. I wonder if more people would have felt that way if Maggie died instead.

Holy moly this would have been so much better to spite the comics. I never really liked Maggie, such an odd character so I don't mind her being gone. Altough this way is still more brutal and makes it even harder for Negan to redeem himself for killing a pregnant woman (if the writers spared him).
I actually thought that the TV show was setting up for Negan eventually being killed, in a comics canon divergence moment.
I thought by taking the responsibility of Abraham's death away from Dwight and making Negan responsible for both Glenn and Abe's deaths, it was to make it easier for tv viewers to later accept Dwight as a good guy and to set it up so Negan absolutely has to die because he's not just killed Glenn but Abraham to.
Glenn being killed off in this scenario instead of Maggie honestly suits the story better. If they used this alternative storyline in the actual show, just imagine the numbers they could've still pulled in. Glenn, going from a pure of heart man to a bloodthirsty revenge-seeking widower, sounds more interesting than Maggie as a widow who acts intolerant in almost every scene she's in, especially around Negan. Glenn cared so much about Maggie and would do anything to protect her. Glenn seeing the harsh reality of this world where life and death hangs in balance and on top of that, feeling the immense guilt of failure to protect the woman he loves makes more sense per say to Glenn just simply dying and Maggie having little to no development after his death. Glenn would want nothing more than to see Negan die and most likely kill Negan himself. Glenn would not be the same individual we all know and love. God knows, we might get a season 5 Rick-type Glenn. Glenn would perhaps turn to a more ruthless madman - a boogeyman of the apocalypse filled with uncontrolled rage. Mind you, Glenn was the moral compass of the group and him being shattered from Maggie's death would alter the entire group for good. Everybody, including a traumatized and vengeful Glenn, would be bloodthirsty and ready for war against the Saviors without any build up or slow pacing, whatsoever. Also, Glenn would perhaps join Carl Grimes in invading the Saviors outpost but probably get caught and punishes for it. I could see the same circumstances happening to Carl Grimes just like in the TV universe with the callback to Rick stating that Glenn could find another dodge challenger to drive someday is actually something good to add in this video. In the mist of all of the suffering Glenn would experience after what goes down, him getting into a dodge challenger and just driving off sounds more satisfying to conclude his character. Glenn could probably go his own way to find other civilizations and maybe return someday.
I wish there was another universe where I could see this version of the story. The only thing that didn’t convince me was Tv show Negan murdering a woman like that (even if he didn’t know she was pregnant) - if they had done that then Negan should be a tad different to make it make sense. I think in this situation it would be impossible to redeem Negan so Glenn killing him will make sense.

If Glenn was going to leave the show, they could have ended his role with the fake death and not reveal what happened to him like they did with Sophia. This would have left the possibility of his returning at a later time including in a spinoff. Having a fake end as a cheap stunt only to have him end a few episodes later just annoyed the viewers.
Idk if y'all remember noah from season 5 but his last words to glenn before he got devoured before his eyes he said to him "Dont let go" glenn then letting go of who he is can make those words really impactful and mean more to glenn specifically especially with killing Negan

I think another reason they killed Glenn instead of maggie was because if negan killed pregnant maggie people wouldn't like negan as much as people do today. Later on negan said he didn't like killing women. And that he wouldn't have been the one to choose Olivia to go. And in season 10 negan said he would never kill a kid. So if he had killed maggie and got off on it like he did with Glenn it wouldn't make sense for negan to say that and the same with if he killed carl. If negan did kill maggie I would've loved to see this side of Glenn tho.

I stopped watching the show after Glenn's death but I definitely would have continued watching if the story had turned out this way and I truly believe Glenn would have become one of most interesting character as his personality would have done a complete 180

Personally I think the way we still play by Negan’s rules is by Negan selecting Maggie lining up a swing and Abraham lunging forward and tackling, hitting, strangling or whatever-ing Negan. He regains control of the situation Abraham gets beat down, then Maggie. Preferably while Glen is awake, not unconscious, that way later in the show he has just as much burning hate for Negan as Rick does.
If Glenn had survived, I would have continued watching the show. lol.
Since this deleted Maggie's death scene was leaked, i alwways thought that Gleen had been killed too, because of the sound of his head hitting the ground

I don't believe that Glenn would have succeeded in killing Negan. Unless he left the sale closed and pointed the gun at him emptying the chamber, I don't see it happening. If it was true to the video and Glenn opened up the prison cell, Negan would have likely either beaten up Glenn and ran away, or killed him and ran away. That would have set up a new path where either Negan reenlisted all of the old Saviors or he went with Alpha and either way Alexandria would have fallen since Negan did not have enough time to rehabilitate and reflect in his prison cell.
I mean Maggie in the original timeline almost killed him I’m sure Glenn could’ve as well🤷🏻♂️

Maggie did become ruthless and less of a sympathetic character but I think Glenn’s death was the only way Maggie could become the badass she ends up being.
I was already thinking of writing this concept because a hardened vengeful Glenn would’ve been amazing
I've been a defender of Glenn's death but now I genuinely think Maggie dying would've been better for the show and still would've been heart breaking especially since the audience knows she's pregnant.

This is amazinggggg, I would have loved it for Glenn to survive the line up this give me a lot of questions. After the Savior arch it would have been amazing to see Glenn with the Whispers. I recently just binged TWD main series the Savior arch left me in a chokehold. I really didn't see much of season 11.
A well-crafted story of loss, vengeance, grief, and (eventual) healing.
This would have been one of the rare instances I'd love a deviation from the comics

Awesome video! Obviously people in the comments for change a thing or two, but they didn’t do the work.
If in 2012 AMC had agreed to develop the game not with Activision, but with more responsible developers, it would have been cool to see in The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct the story of Daryl and Glenn before the apocalypse. Two separate stories. And if the players played as Rambo for Daryl, then the gameplay for Glenn would be more focused on stealth and parkour.
We could have been shown:
Daryl's violent childhood.
The death of his mother.
Survival in the forest as a child.
Beating him and Merle by his father.
Glenn's past, his parents, sisters, job as a pizza delivery guy.
All of these would be flashbacks (in which the player also took part) that occur in between missions aimed at finding shelter (Dale's camp).
Daryl would also be looking for Merle as in Survival Instinct, and Glenn could be in the company of a T-Dog, whom he would meet on the way and they would be looking for a safe place together. They would get to Dale's camp first, then Daryl and Merle. It was also possible to make a horror mission about the chupacabra (hallucinations) the Daryl told about. And the game would have ended at the first meeting of Rick and Daryl.

It would also give the flawless chance to bring Lee, Clementine and the others canon in the show. Maybe he drives to find the old group? Maybe brings the group back kinda like Maggie did, but with some actual decent characters that fans loved.

lol clever editing taking the driving scenes from the other show “glenn” was in. NGL some of the recreated story was a little goofy. “Glenn delivered pizzas cuz he loved driving so much.” When Sasha went in to kill Negan alone she left behind and said “DRIVE.” Come on man lol
