  • A lot is happening in this episode! I install a 4mm rigid core interlocking vinyl plank floor, and take care of a number of other things, including a major water leak!
Hi there, my name is Arne and if you're new to the channel, in addition to various home DIY projects, I look after the facilities maintenance end of things at a multi-campus K-12 school (plus a Preschool & Daycare) in Langley, BC. With nearly 1300 students, 200 staff, 5 campus' and various other outbuildings, there's always something to do.
I love my job; not only does the work I do benefit many, every day brings new challenges, which keeps me on my toes and in problem-solving mode.
Stay safe and be kind to one another!

    Yup… totally agree.
As I’ve mentioned a number of times during this series, this is a repair not a restoration - I just need it to last me 3 or 4 years.
    Thanks for watching!

One thing about camper rv's, maintenance. Any little leak will rot the floors. You may think that you sealed the rubber roof but since most rv roofs are 1/4" plywood stapled to the roof rafters, the staples end up popping thru the rubber and thus causing small leaks. Marker lights, j-channel gutter screws and vent seams all seam to leak over time. They don't make campers to last or they go out of business. I have a park model trailer( not one to go camping with) that has a pitched shingled roof, 5/8" tongue and groove plywood floor and 2x4 walls. Most campers have 2x2 walls and OSB floors and cheap plumbing that tends to leak. You are basically putting lipstick on a pig. Lol

Hi Arne! Just back from a 3 week vacation in Japan and catching up on what you've been up to. Great to see the progress on the trailer and it being in good use already! Loved this ongoing series, it fit well with the random one-off repairs at the school.

Binge watched this whole series and that turned out pretty good. I will likely be helping my son replace the floor in his old camper that I gave him. It had a soft floor when I bought it and just decided to give it to him as I found it wasn't for me and my wife (a hybrid). Your videos gave me ideas on how to tackle it although it has actual aluminum floor joists. The previous owner just slapped a sheet of plywood over the rot and is now just soft and things are off kilter from the extra height. You experience with the laminate tells me to use vinyl flooring. Thanks and enjoy camping.

LOL - wasn't necessarily qualified to install that Step-Stabilizer ! Another LOL moment - "tiny woodland creatures in that tail light lens" ! Water-testing is never a bad idea, as we both know, Arne !😊

Agreed - water is indeed opportunistic, relying on gravity to do its worst. 🙂
