    Built outside the property boundary! Roof overhang 300mm, slab laid to fence line. Doh!

    • @Phazaar
      @Phazaar 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Slab isn't laid to the fence line, and the fence line is further from the property line; look closer. There's also a view where you can see as they're doing the mitres for the roof that the overhang most likely ends at the fence line. It's also worth saying that may not be the property boundary - it might be their own garage next door, and that their party wall agreement may permit overhangs (this is fairly common now as our roof structures often overhang from build stage in order to maximise the number of properties you can fit on a site.

    Love the build. From what I can tell every step is optional but "DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREWS"!!! 🤣 In a world filled with DIY that do everything from scratch is nice to see a DIY video where you show there are very good "out of the box" solutions to building something. Again, great video. It was so easy to follow and could be straight up an official building guide. 👍👍

    So, how do you stop the rain flowing down the panels & into the base channels, then flowing back into the "drain-slots" & into the building, as the foam tape will have joints in it, plus the tape would really be to stop draughts...🤔

      This was going to be my exact question... isn't the U channel just going to fill up with water during the first storm? Seems crazy to have that type of structure without any flashing or other detailing to keep water out of the bottom of the wall.

  • @goldengoose4985

    Great video! However if that was going in my garden, l would want the fitters to put the DPM on the entire concrete floor before putting the building down for extra protection of the building base.

    • @homeimprovements
      @homeimprovements  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks

    • @richieshaw1988
      @richieshaw1988 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Their installation is correct; reason being is: the concrete slab projects beyond the outer face of the external walls of the building, therefore if you place a DPM beneath it, rainwater that absorbs into the perimeter edges of the slab would be unable to dissipate into the ground and would instead be trapped on top of the DPM, thus meaning that the slab would be permanently sat in a pool of water. In the absence of a DPM below the slab, the concrete would need to be sulphate resisting.

    Nice build. How did you fasten the base plate on the side next to the fence? I imagine only as far as you could get an arm back in there. Never mind, the question was already asked and answered - drill extension bar. It's not something most people have lying around, but not a problem if you have more real estate to work with. Enjoyed the video. So what is going on with the brickwork on the side?

    I seen this on the skill builder channel and it looks great for us as we do domestic joinery and building work for a living, would speed up the process and meet most clients needs . Its just a shame it only comes in GREY , absolutely despise any grey products as they won't hold up beyond this current fad and definitely wouldn't have it in my own house . Can honestly see us back ripping out the 100s of grey kitchens, bathrooms and floors we've done over the last 5 years . The only potential problem i see is the lack of areas to run electrics without surface mounting them , normally we'd run them along the outside in the airspace behind the cladding and in the ceiling space so could see that being a pain
    That to one side I'd be interested to see an update on this project, is it a filter house for the bond being built next to it ?

    Won't the ridge supports and other headers act as cold bridges or are they a hard plastic?

    I like the corner panel! However, heat bridges and cold bridges occur on the floor and roof.
