I love food, and I’ve moved around a lot having to move away from friends, but there is no way I’d trust a copy of my mom with BUTTONS for eyes. Nah, child me would’ve turned right back around.

You can't really escape the beldam, it's explained by...way too many TH-camrs that make me question how many people are obsessed with this movie (it's a good movie but damn). The Beldam can slip into the real world and just drag you back when she wants to. Probably when you fall asleep. Unless you are moving asap, then she can just grab you, lock you in her mirror cage and groom you into inevitably "loving her" or else

In Coraline, the only real escape is moving bu then the next erson will be a victim. Since she doesn't move at the end, someone just has to open the well by accident and boom, she's back so it's inevitable
I can agree with you a lot that people make stupid decisions in horror movies like jeepers creepers but that’s what the horror movie good the suspense the intensity and the scares and also trying to explain logic in a horror movie his like trying to explain logic to a cartoon
