The thing about the coraline and the buggy roses scene, is she still has the poison oak. That was gone after she went to sleep for the first night. The scene also ends with her going to sleep. In the kitchen scene after her and Wybie meet, she says “I almost fell down a well yesterday mom.” Meaning a whole day had passed. I think these scenes being deleted makes so much sense honestly. It also adds some buildup to the end when Coraline actually is bright and cheery. Also you’re insanely underrated. I expected you to have like 20k subs or something. You deserve so much more dude ❤
I love that they released all these deleted scenes for us to see because I always love new ways to think about and enjoy coraline but I think the decisions they made to cut them were the right ones. The final cut of coraline as we know it to me is a perfect film.
So wait, you’re telling me that it’s coralline’s fault that her parents were so busy and barely made their deadline?! So if she hadn’t flipped that switch in the breaker room her parents would have had time to spend with her and she might have not cared enough to go to the other world? That’s wild 😂
i feel like the "you're grandma is black right" scene wasn't cut for any race reason, but because it was too comedic and because it ruined the mystery of whether one of the ghosts was the grandma or not
i really do agree with the part when caroline smiles at dinner is very uncharacteristic of her. i feel like caroline is such a deeply depressed child that finds happiness in mostly nothing because of the neglect she experiences from her parents. it would have been weird to have a scene where shes smiling around her parents. she barely smiles when her parents are around, particularly her mom (the real one lol).
I think her smile was intended to be taken ironically. She understands that her parents are constantly at odds, and has become accustomed to it. She gestures to the doll, shushing it as if to say: "don't complain, just smile and act normal." She has no control over the situation, so she just resorts to mocking it.
@@crona1794 she was making that face because her dad said the storm knocked the power out and deleted his files when it was actually her fault because she hit the breaker earlier in the film. So the smile was meant more as an “I know something you don’t know” kind of expression

I love how this movie never gets old, It’s never gone down hill, People still watch it everyday and could for hours. That’s how good it is like this is my fav movie of ALL TIME
I would love to see a Sequel, with Coraline as an Adult with kids… having to revisit the place where she endured all that trauma because maybe her parents are sick, or she’s helping them move into a new home(or nursing home)? But in the process she’s either trying to avoid having her children in the house as much as possible while her mother complains that she never gets to see her grandkids. Just stuff like that, would add so much. And possible Coraline finding out that children have been disappearing in the area? And realizing that the Other Mother lives and is stronger than ever, when one of(if not her only) child goes missing she finds herself going back into the Other world, which is a trap so that the Other Mother can finally get revenge. Coraline has to reach in to her inner child and outsmart the Other Mother once again. Maybe even go on a tangent about how crappy of a Mother the Other Mother was, for feeding off of her “children” before kicking her ass. Now I dunno about y’all but that sounds like a badass movie to me, I would watch the crap out of it. Especially if Wybie made an appearance at he end after Coraline and her child escaped the Other World, like “Hi honey” or something and then the movie cuts to black and that’s just it 😂
would be an interesting seque, BUT I would LOVE Prequel, where it goes to showing the beginning of the beldam and how she came to be, and what truly is the tunnel that Coraline is so afraid of? Maybe the Beldam's first victim was the "Boring Blue Boy" centuries before and that is why he isn't seen with the ghost children, or maybe somehow he became that tunnel considering Coraline saying it almost seemed alive and it was constantly changing with the books and the movies. Or maybe the Boring Blue boy is the cat that he tries to save the children but because none of the children listened he became grumpy. I'd love it to be the Beldame's origin story
The sequel would have to be about her escaping from the Pink Palace Limbo she is trapped in. She never really defeated the Bedlam. She is trapped in the monster’s world, unknowingly. There could be a crossover with Kubo to get her out. That could be interesting.
I just thought of this earlier, but Wybie, brought the doll to Coraline saying how he found it in his grandmothers trunk right? And his Grandmother refuses to step foot in the Pink Palace right? but stick with me here, in the opening scene the Beldame is retrieving the doll through this window and she fixes it up to look like Coraline and then sends it through the window again...but it ends up in Whybie's grandmothers trunk? some say that this other world is connected to the well considering that the opening scene it almost looks like the doll is sinking into the window, and then floats away after it is fixed, maybe because of the new stuffing it is lighter, BUT Whybie is the one that told Coraline about that well so he already knew about it. It would be interestingto see if they have that play into Whybie's grand-aunt story @@TA-ls5nr

I remember the part where Coraline was drawing was included in the PS2 game back then. There was also a Nintendo DS game but I can't remember if they also included other deleted scenes. One particular part where I was left confused was the tennis court at their backyard. It's really interesting :)
Yes! I loved playing that game as a kid since I also loved the movie. I found it so interesting that the game seemingly "added" certain spaces to the area around the Pink Palace like the tennis court but since it was originally in the book, it's even more interesting that they didn't include it in the movie (like the inside of the barn), though I guess it wouldn't add anything to the story.
I wouldn't exactly say clickbait, I'd say he should've come up with a more different title. But he covers scenes that were cut, scenes that were altered, etc
Well I guess maybe the scene with the coraline speaking to her dad about the ketchup stain would've ended a lot of unnecessary fan theories. Plus it may show that the dad isn't as depressed as he appears to be and make him appear to have a little more sympathy for him.
I went to an art exhibition in CA a few years back (don't think museum, think a conference center with several artist in different areas of expertise at personal tables) and the Coraline creators want to make a second movie diving deeper into the story. It's exciting that the movie has found a new cult following because they were very dedicated and have advocated for their art for over 10 years!
Fun fact the ending thing with the mouse dance was actually added after the credits in the Blue Ray 3D version. I had the DVD and it came with the red and blue glasses, and that was always my favourite part in 3D.
Idk why, but watching these removed scenes suddenly gave me a feeling like those characters are actually real people. And the whole movie is just an artistic pick of the sertain scenes to create an atmospheric story. But those scenes just show the same people in between the moments that were "picked" for the film, where they're still existing and living their lives in their own world.
It's crazy that all of these scenes were already fully animated, and they still got cut out of the film. Usually animated movies' deleted scenes are only in storyboard/animatic form, but sometimes it's surprising they are willing to cut out fully animated scenes.
The film makes things kinda seem like she's in their way, but all these deleted scenes between her and her parents *_(_* _especially her dad_ *_)_* are so loving when she isn't in the other world. I really wish they would have kept the pizza scene. Losing them after they're kidnapped in the film would've felt more *painful* had they kept it in.
I think its interesting that pretty much all of the deleted scenes took place in the real world. Also, that's some interesting symbolism in the scene with the spider...
I think the first deleted scene was (half) important. The film made it seem like nothing had changed, but Coraline lost her father’s progress turning off the power. This would’ve better expressed why her parents are so agitated throughout the entire film: they were set back about halfway with their progress, and eager to meet a deadline for a magazine company.
Also, to feed off when I said the other mother controls the regular world, I believe the dead garden plays a huge role and why the cat at the end was able to still go through the other side. The dead garden resembles the other mother face, the garden dead or alive gives other mother powers. As long as portals are made, the other mother controls it
I’m not sure if anyone else noticed this, but this was something crazy I saw in the scene when Coraline and her mom are in the kitchen. Coraline is telling her mom that she misses Michigan. While this is happening, she is picking the petals off of the flowers. She then finds a spider in the petals, and throws it behind her. It then lands in her mother’s coffee! An she drinks it! But the spider crawls out onto Coraline’s hand. HUGE beldam theory! Maybe that scene has to happen, in a way, in order for the beldam to be present and prepared. Like some sort of cannon event, if you get my reference.
That makes sense, although it wasn't necessary as she used a doll to spy on coraline's life. I guess that just wasn't enough for the beldam. 23 years old here and I'm still frightened by her spider-like body
@6:10 For some odd reason the way Coraline moved reminded me of a lucid nightmare I once had of a doll coming alive and becoming self aware and suddenly looking at me and approaching me with unclear intentions and me realising I was dreaming and screaming and willing myself with all my might to wake up..
I think that having deleted scenes would be one of the most hurtful things to the animators 💀 oike inagine working on a scene for many months just for it to not make it to the movie 😭
Coraline was the first movie I ever saw in theaters twice and the second time I saw it, it was 3D. It made the movie so much more whimsical at the time because I was about 10. I would have loved a lot of these extra scenes.
Fun fact most if not all of the deleted scenes are from the book this movie is based on, the swerling drawing is when in the book her mom told her to draw something and Coraline draws the mist hence the fade out from the mist to Coraline's room. Plus in the movie Coraline is older than book Coraline which is why they don't fit
I like that you recognize that there's a definite reason why these scenes were in fact cut. Too often people just comment "this scene adds so much, it should've been left in!" without realizing the circumstances, tone, pacing, and other factors that the director has to consider. Not a fan of the misleading thumbnail, but otherwise a great video.
So many interesting bits that did not make it into the final cut, but overall, I can't say I would want them in the film. I think Coraline is perfect as is!
I find it important to leave the scene where Coraline was acting all innocent and smiley. It's almost like a porcelain doll because it does resemble her own doll. Her own doll was a spy from the other world already setting the plan into motion for the other mother to get to her. This also shows how neglectful their parents are. We don't exactly know how her parents act, but due to how separated they are it seems like they're divorced or not exactly lovey dovey parents. It will add on more mystery in my opinion
I can kind of see why the first few were removed, not only did they not really fit but they do just blatantly tell the audience what's going on. "The storm deleted Dad's paper!" "Coraline misses Michigan!" "The new school has uniforms, Coraline hates them!" We get that information anyways to be fair, but I like that they showed us rather than blatantly telling us in the final product. Not only does it keep the mysterious atmosphere but it also lets us piece together what's going on in Coraline's new life without being blatantly told that information
4:44 - Fun fact: in the italian dub. they left the clip where the father mention the pizza. This it's the first time I heard it being cut and people making theory about the sauce stain.
After reading the book, I find it fascinating how Coraline's character is translated from paper to the screen. The book's overall "message" is that there is a difference between being brave and unafraid. When you are "brave", you can be terrified, but what matters is that you did it. I never really got this from the movie, but I am also not a film critic or connoisseur of movies, so I don't dig for meaning in scenes or characters. But, in the book, there is so much dialogue about how scared Coraline is and how eerie the "other" world is. In the movie, the viewer is asked to experience all those fears/emotions, which is why the movie is so enchanting and spooky. One of the spookiest parts, to me, is how "unafraid" Coraline seems and how, despite the craziness of the situation, she still continues to go back. I also haven't watched the film in a while, but I remember being most creeped out by how willing Coraline is to the other world's strangeness. She questions many things in the book and points out the "strangeness."
what is the deal with the front picture of your video ? Where did the boy came from ? A game, a drawing you did ? Also nice cut scenes, i understand why they didn't keep thel but it's always nice to see the process
I recently saw Coraline in 3D at the theatre. They used the mouse dance scene at the end of the movie. It was really well done, especially in the 3D format.
I believe the wholesome scenes would have actually improved the overall delivery of Coraline, as these moments of calm would've given more contrast to what actually went wrong. The dinner scene makes it seem as Coraline is forcing herself to act "normal" as a defense mechanism to her actually ongoing disgust and depression in her situation, which makes sense given her age.
Guys, I know that's a movie and not a TV series or sth. The reason why I used words "episode" and "cartoon" is because English isn't my native language. So wait, you’re telling me that it’s coralline’s fault that her parents were so busy and barely made their deadline?! So if she hadn’t flipped that switch in the breaker room her parents would have had time to spend with her and she might have not cared enough to go to the other world? That’s wild 😂
I’m not gonna lie, the parents seemed more gentle in the cut scenes and the change in Coraline’s clothes definitely gave her more personality.

i really do agree with the part when caroline smiles at dinner is very uncharacteristic of her. i feel like caroline is such a deeply depressed child that finds happiness in mostly nothing because of the neglect she experiences from her parents. it would have been weird to have a scene where shes smiling around her parents. she barely smiles when her parents are around, particularly her mom (the real one lol).
I think her smile was intended to be taken ironically. She understands that her parents are constantly at odds, and has become accustomed to it. She gestures to the doll, shushing it as if to say: "don't complain, just smile and act normal." She has no control over the situation, so she just resorts to mocking it.
C a r o l i n e

@@crona1794 she was making that face because her dad said the storm knocked the power out and deleted his files when it was actually her fault because she hit the breaker earlier in the film. So the smile was meant more as an “I know something you don’t know” kind of expression

I choked on my water at Coralines question. "Your grandma's black, right!?"
Ommgggg I would love to watch this 😭💯💯🔥
The sequel would have to be about her escaping from the Pink Palace Limbo she is trapped in. She never really defeated the Bedlam. She is trapped in the monster’s world, unknowingly. There could be a crossover with Kubo to get her out. That could be interesting.
@@TrailBlazingTurtlegoing off of that I would love a prequel of Wybie’s grand-aunt and her story of how the beldam was introduced to her
I just thought of this earlier, but Wybie, brought the doll to Coraline saying how he found it in his grandmothers trunk right?

The Tennis court is actually from the book. Interesting that they didn't include it in the movie.
I love the PS2 game.

There hasn’t been anything on the internet yet about that though

I think its interesting that pretty much all of the deleted scenes took place in the real world. Also, that's some interesting symbolism in the scene with the spider...
I am so obsessed with Laika Studios and stop-motion movies in general- the best kindda type of movies, nothing is unintentional

Honestly, it has been like 10 years since I have seen this movie. I need to watch it again because it was great.
Cannon event
That makes sense, although it wasn't necessary as she used a doll to spy on coraline's life. I guess that just wasn't enough for the beldam. 23 years old here and I'm still frightened by her spider-like body

Coraline is easily my favorite animated movie of all time. Masterpiece. Absolute masterpiece.

They're actually pretty close, they're just in a difficult situation

I almost want a sequel, but I also think it’s good off where it ended.
Also I’m just scared it might not possibly live up to the original.
I can kind of see why the first few were removed, not only did they not really fit but they do just blatantly tell the audience what's going on.
"The storm deleted Dad's paper!" "Coraline misses Michigan!" "The new school has uniforms, Coraline hates them!"
We get that information anyways to be fair, but I like that they showed us rather than blatantly telling us in the final product.
I don’t really think she’s depressed I think she’s just home sick and wants to be back with her friends
3:09 you notice ALOT when you see more scenes. When the mouses led coraline to the door. You can see the clouds form Into a spiral
what is the deal with the front picture of your video ? Where did the boy came from ? A game, a drawing you did ?

Thank you for talking about the kid in the thumbnail. It was really descriptive. Thank you.
I love the part where he showed us the deleted end credits scene.
