Great video Joe, fast estates are so cool as you know 😎 Love my G31 B5 Touring - similar proposition to the RS 6, but a bit more under radar. This RS 6 sounds great out of the box!
If you want an under the radar stealthy, uber fast, refined and comfortable wagon, no one does it better than Alpina. But if you want sound, sharpness and "get out of my way" presence, this RS 6 is king!
Great video Joe thanks. Picked up my RS6 Vorsprung from Bath Audi this week. Not many folk could give a fig about this but… Only now found out that the Carbon Black & Vorsprung models are not fitted with ‘convenience key’ operation. The base model is though. Have had RS6’s previously & all had that allowing hand-on-door-handle opening & touch handle closing. Foot waggling under rear bumper to open tail gate doesn’t do anything either. Dealer contacting Audi to find out why. Weird. Blimmin brilliant car though. Simon
Great to have met you down at Silverstone this weekend and thanks for taking the time to chat. I'll definitely be watching everything you have here on your channel 👌
Always loved the RS6 ever since Layer Cake in the 90’s but I’m a BMW M man and on my 6th M with the current M4 Comp Convertible and can’t see me changing any time soon. But mega impressed with this RS6.
Cracking vid as always Joe. Saw one of these in a showroom the other day & they have a real presence with those wheels. Like the way the vid ended too… nice edit
Joe, lovin the vocation pleased to see you're true to "the honesty club" this and your GT3 touring were outstanding both my top two gaurage candidates! Keepin it real my brother
You're a braver man than me sticking your wipers on down the Autobahn 😂😂 My friend had a 2014 RS6 and before that thr old V10 engined version. Both absolute weapons and still two of the best cars he's ever owned amongst the dozens he's had. Hell of a car. Top review as always 💪
I’m waiting for the RS6 GT possibly coming next year. My only doubt is have they sorted the faulty alternator problem. Scores of customer’s RS6s sit in Audi dealership not moving because they can’t supply and fit new ones for months.
I can't afford either the M3 touring or this rs6. BUT if I woke up tomorrow morning after my marmite on toast and I opened the curtain looked at my drive and saw my MK4 golf sitting there all sad. I would know I didn't win LLFs prize draw tonight for either of them 🤣🤣
Just watched a review of a RS6 Performance that was on the Conti Sportcontact 7 and he remarked it has really sharp turn in in comparison with the non-performance he’d driven earlier
Nice Video.. As Usually. 🙂 Question Joe.. Does this C8 have a Sharper / Directer Steering and a Stiffer Chassis Compared to the C7 RS6 PLUS? And when you Compare both Cars in Terms of Body Style.. Which One Looks more Massive to you? Or is it very Equal?
Unique car. Like the Audi Quattro for safety and a comparison of how it works to BMW X-drive is probably in another video. Are both rear biased? Would prefer the previous model RS6 without sound proofing removed, that’s a ridiculous way to save weight. Usually the bonnet becomes carbon fibre and the roof too, but I like the panoramic roof you can’t have with a carbon fibre roof. Does it drift at high speed on an autobahn: Is it safe and stable and not going to take off.
Local dealer has a unit in transit. I have a Merc GT53 with low kms. The 8 cylinder sure is appealing again. Anyway I will have a look . Comments appreciated.
Joe is it comfortable ? U compere everything to M3. For example i didn’t order M3 because i don’t like the way it drives and its not V8. RS6 was always comfort than speed in comfort than dynamic where M5 is dynamic, speed than comfort. U made nice video about M550i. Is it more like M5 or rather M550i in terms of comfort and dynamic ?
Cannot speak for the RS6 Performance but the “standard” RS6, even on DRC springs is much more comfortable than the M5 comp (pre-LCI) that I owned. Your descriptions of the two is very accurate in my opinion. The M5 feels quicker and more immediate but it is also louder in the cabin and considerably firmer. The M5 is a better driver’s car but the RS is a better family car. They’re either side of a very fine line and both are at the extreme edge of most scales (pace, price, luxury etc), I.e. both are amazing.
Have they improved the downshift on this car? I had the 2021 RSQ8 and a 2020 R8. They both were slow to downshifted unless you matted the gas pedal. My current BMW X5M Competition is so much better.
I ordered an f pace svr over a c8 rs6 couple years ago, but now they seem to have sorted all the issues I had with it, sound but mainly that doughy laggy throttle moving off from rest - you could flat foot it and almost count 1 2 3 before the engine woke up, it’s because they keep wastegate open at low rpm/low throttle for efficiency. Suffice to say I’ve ordered a perf and now just have to wait for the exclusive build - hopefully in meantime they can sort ccb and conti availability
Yes the new M3 Touring may be a bit quicker than the RS6 but there’s something about the RS6 which makes it special. I owned an A4 Quattro which I had remapped and that was a dream to drive, so can only imagine what the RS6 is like. Doubt I’ll ever have the cash to find out.
An RS6 performance should have carbon ceramics as standard, especially as Audi emphasises weight saving so much. I have them on my non-performance 2022 RS6 and they are worth every single cent.
There’s nothing better than a fast estate in my opinion. Although this Audi really impresses me on the mechanical and performance side, it exterior design is to shouty, a bit over the top to my liking (that rear diffuser for instance, yikes). I prefer my G31 B5 Alpina, similar performance (200+ mph), less sharp but better on normal roads and everyday driving and way more subtle in the looks department
I really liked this car at the dealership. It looks amazing. However when the dealer started the car I couldn’t hear anything resembling a big turbo powered V8 motor capable of delivering 600+ hp. The excitement is disconnected from the driver’s cabin. The exhaust sounds like a mile away from the rear end. I suspect it’s super quiet and efficient for high speed driving and long distance but where’s the fun? I was left a bit puzzled by comparison to my old F10 M5 which sounded and felt more raw and beastly. Not sure if the Audi can improve with an aftermarket exhaust or intake or anything. Liven it up a bit from a “feeling” point of view.
Opf filters and several modern sound restrictions have come into place (from bent politics) since your F10 was produced, it's the same with all manufacturers! You can buy aftermarket exhausts that help the situation.
And they would tell you to politely get your wallet out for the additional £1200 or so it would cost them to change the tyres, or else go forth and take what you’re given ! Manufacturers always have exemption clauses in the buying contract that the car may not come with a specific tyre and a substitute brand/type may be fitted.
ive got a 22 rs6. the brakes don't get better. I had to change the ceramic pads out to get any sort of feel, but even then, it's pretty bad. not just the power, but the feel and ability to modulate is pretty lousy.
Did you get MTM or Audi CCBs? I wanted to do to my 23 but I checked and the calipers are are different between CCBs and Steel. Why???? One would think pad and rotors would only need to be changed but I guess the CCBs are a tad bigger. Plus I think you need to change the brake booster and/or proportioning valve.
Really great and thorough review that captures the essence of the car very well I d say- and I haven t been in one let alone have driven it. It feels like both Audi and BMW lost their way a bit with the RS/M models in the past years and now are back at it. The verdict just sounds exactly like the differences between them in the mid 2000s, RS6 being more on the mile muncher, bigger B road and more jack of all trades side whilst the M5 or even more so the M3 still pronounce the proactive side of driving more...but both being closer in the other one s core domain now.
@@JoeAchilles1 No Joe, I m the one thanking you coz this one really took me on a journey. I d really like to know if it s just in my mind or am I falling for symbolism but I had the impression, ever since the M3 Touring being announced both Audi and BMW have found back to their mid 2000s spirit where they were close rivals with different flavours...or let me rephrase: is my impression wrong that the past couple of years, they somehow dropped the ball a bit, deviating from that very spirit...coz that at least was my impression: as in "yeah the models of the past 5-10years were still good but with the new ones, they re really back on track like in the old days"?
I.C.E. production cars (let alone some even faster E.V.s) have such ridiculous 0 to 60 times compared with previously. Back in the day, the A.C. Shelby Cobra had a 0 to 60 time of 4 seconds before it spun off and killed you and that was a 500bhp car of 1150kg. In 2000 only stripped out track cars could beat 3 seconds. I guess that tyres have a lot to do with it but daft really.
Car wow race was so setup race. It's obvious that they launched both M5 CP and E63S without launch control just to hype up the car community. RS 6 Performance or M3 Touring?
Love both to bits but I'd have to pick the M3 Touring simply because its a BMW sorry😅
RS6 all day long
They aren’t direct rivals, the M5 is the rival and that is better apart from only being available in a saloon…..
Rs6 all day everyday
RS6 performance in a blue 👍🏼
Even as a BMW fan boy, have to admit they've really got it right with this car! Great review as always.
Haha me too!
As a Mercedes fanboy I second this
So agreed 👍
Ordered mine last week! Audi Exclusive Vegas Yellow with Ocean Blue leather. It should look awesome!
👍😁. Lucky bastard!
The ultimate vehicle
Certainly one of them 👌
Audi have smashed it with the RS6 performance. What a car 🚀
Great video Joe, fast estates are so cool as you know 😎 Love my G31 B5 Touring - similar proposition to the RS 6, but a bit more under radar. This RS 6 sounds great out of the box!

My dream car with my favorite youtuber? What a day it is!
it’s pretty cool knowing i have the same zf transmission in my 2013 base model a4 and i can attest at 204k miles it’s still silky smooth
Cracking vid as always Joe. Saw one of these in a showroom the other day & they have a real presence with those wheels. Like the way the vid ended too… nice edit

Ur thumbnails always deliver, print quality as always
Thank you! Was actually a press shot, I can't take the credit!
Just an awesome machine. Nice work as always Joe
Thank you!
The best RS6 drives throughs. Joy joy and bliss to watch. Thank you so much
What a really great video. Collecting mine from Bath Audi on Saturday. Only a few in the UK with ceramics apparently. Can't wait.
Are ceramics still an option? I’m looking to order one next week, no mention of ceramics on the configurator.
Ceramics aren’t available anymore. However Joe reckons the steels are fine in his review of the RS7 Performance.
Joe, lovin the vocation pleased to see you're true to "the honesty club" this and your GT3 touring were outstanding both my top two gaurage candidates! Keepin it real my brother
Great review Joe, awesome content as always.
Cheers Jake!
I have Conti SC7 on my Alpina B3 and it's a fantastic tyre. I'd imagine an RS6 would be mega on it.
11:30 I'm sure it isn't, but it sounds like the exhaust is blowing! Great vid, as always.
Haha it does a little!
Nice review Joe. Would love one of these

Imagine getting a new RS6 and finding out it was on Hankook tyres🤦♂. Great review Joe! Would you have this over an Alpina B5?
man....the sound of that v8 is sweet under load..💯💥
Thunder 🔥
Sounds like shit. 20 year old na non vtec Hondas have a nicer note than that
Many thanks Joe for this excellent and comprehensive analysis.

Perfect watch on a saturday evening! I'd take both, the RS6 Perf and M3 Touring.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Joe pulling so many Gs at 12:30 his shirt literally changed into a black V neck before next scene
Credit to ZF for making possibly the best gearbox ever made 👊
Agreed!
Not even close. The pdk is 3 times better!
pdk8 from panamera should be an option zf is trash

Great review
Just watched a review of a RS6 Performance that was on the Conti Sportcontact 7 and he remarked it has really sharp turn in in comparison with the non-performance he’d driven earlier
With the removal of sound deadening, has road/tyre noise and wind noise increased?
Was the car equipped with the standard air suspension or with drc?
The best just got better 👍😉💪
Planning to get it next yrs, hopefully can reach it soon😆🔥
Why are the tires on the Audi so much wider on the front than the back? Is it driving backwards??

Fantastic!
calling it performance and putting a limiter on it is inexcusable as well as the steel brakes.
Any tuner can take the limiter off - where are you planning to drive at 200mph?
Hope Audi will keep this V8 engine - what a car ❤
Best stock wheels on a car

Awesome. Depending on where you live, this or an RSQ8. RS6 wheels and gtound clearance doesn't like my skifield's road much.
Here is a question Joe, would you have a Vorsprung, optioned with these wheels, or would you have this Performance version? 👍🇬🇧
That’s my dream car RS6.I don’t mind if it’s a 2017 or newer they just built diffrent.I guess it have to stick with my Yaris tsport
25kg of insulation removed? I had in my head it was 7kg, 25 seems a lot?
How did you find the Hankook S1 Evo 3’s Joe? I’m seriously considering them for my 840i - they get pretty good reviews and really well priced.
It’s more comfortable and quieter than the PS4S

Simply my dream car Joe!
Curious to know if this sits lower than the regular RS6
That gear box....oh its lethal.
What a beast! M3 touring for me, tad too big the rs6 although I do love the power! 😂 can’t win!
But there’s an all new RS6 coming later this year isn’t there?
An RS6 performance should have carbon ceramics as standard, especially as Audi emphasises weight saving so much. I have them on my non-performance 2022 RS6 and they are worth every single cent.

Those wheels are really nice but the silver/grey trim especially on rear bumper looks awful - gloss black would look so much nicer
How do you take the limiter off?
Muppet.
Love these, however, I would be saying to the dealer that I would want the Contis fitting as Audi have said, fitting ASAP. 👍🇬🇧
