    I think my favorite part of this is that Adam was actually having Allie work instead of just showing her his tricks. It's great that he's trusting her competency and letting her learn.

    • @willierants5880
      @willierants5880 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I liked that he didn't fuss over the details. That's such an important lesson, especially for someone like me who is too often a perfectionist. Being a perfectionist can kill the love of something for a lot of people and I really respect how Adam just let her do her thing. You can see that each of these were all a bit different. Some were rougher than others, but it all adds to the experience for her and us.

    • @ohnhai
      @ohnhai 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      What I liked was he didn't hover (much) it was "this is how it's done.... your turn and I'm going over here to line up the next thing" although the difference in confidence in the brush strokes was lovely. Adam: splish splash sploosh (but with a practices eye) and Allie: much more tentative.

    • @devinaschenbrenner2683
      @devinaschenbrenner2683 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ohnhai it's just experience. It was a nice contrast to watch Adam go ham, Allie take her time. And the end product, obviously with a helpful hint here and there, came out the same. And the fact these are going to be movie used props, and hes still just going, this is how it's done, there ya go and then just leaves her to do her thing. Just beautiful.

    Saw the movie last night!
    Ghostbusters: Afterlife is almost exactly what I hoped it would be! McKenna Grace is excellent as Phoebe Spengler.
    I see some are criticising the density of fan service in the film, but actually none of it is cynical... They didn't feel the need to show us Slimer, for example, and the overall effect is one of love for the 1984 original.
    This wasn't so much a passing-the-torch as it was a generational reflection on Ghostbusters.
    Also the way the movie handled Harold Ramis' absence was really quite beautiful!
    Oh - And I shared a knowing nod with my wife when the Aztec Death Whistle turned up :D

    • @oskimac
      @oskimac 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel the same. The movie is also a demonstration that you can re make a movie and put woman/girls black girl as the main protagonist, making male characters some dumb and relegated to second place. And not offend anyone with it. I think we all enjoyed seen Phoebe being the smart sister explaining to his no so smart brother. Whiteout saying"you are a man you are stupid"

    Adam seems like such a great teacher both with his excitement and how readily he hands things off to those he's working with. That's always a challenge with teaching something like this, being able to let someone take over on something that matters.
    And Allie is obviously talented as well to be able to keep up with all that. I hope she gets a chance to use what she learned there.

    Last year i 3D printed a proton pack, once assembled I used a two-part resin to coat and strengthen the print, mixed the resin in a red solo cup, I've never worked with resin before, mixed a little too much resin, and felt the cup getting warmer. Finally, I see it smoking. Learned real quick that resin is an exothermic reaction.

    Great tutorial on how to weather a prop but more importantly, excellent tutorial on how to be a mentor and leader - calm, supportive, never talking down to Allie and explaining why you do each step. That is how you encourage and train someone - well done Adam. I am hoping Allie got one of those in end, they looked great in the movie.

    I’m envious. I’d love to learn anything, any time from Adam.

    This is wholesome AF, and the video I didn't know I needed right now.

    I've always loved you in Mythbusters. Now I really can't wait to see Ghostbusters Afterlife to see your prop!

    This is why I love Adam Savage, yes he is an amazing craftsman and incredible prop maker, but he takes the time to not just show others his process, but teach them his process, leaving nothing as a secret for himself.

    It’s always super cool to see the next generation have access to legendary people to learn a skill or even just some tips on how to do things the way they have been done and gain the experience of someone whose been doing it as long as they’ve been alive.
