      Hey Adam and Norm, great content as usual! I do believe War Machine Paintball are completely replicating all of the original firearms when making their props. So you’ll actually start with a true working replica of a real life Luger, Mauser or Sterling, etc... Their Star Wars replicas look phenomenal and if your a fan of real firearms they would also be great replicas on their own, with no greebles.

    • @AlasdairGR
      @AlasdairGR 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I’m not sure “ridiculously” is a good adjective for the price. Model gun and prop kits for sci-fi weapons like this are always higher priced because it’s usually one person or a small team hand designing and machining these parts. That’s a lot of labor hours and hand work that must be accounted for in the price so that they can pay their employees and have a viable business. Saber kits easily cost just as much, if not more, than this kit and this blaster kit has a lot more parts than a lot of saber kits. The price on this (in the context of Star Wars/sci-fi props) is pretty reasonably priced.

    • @NickCline

      Yeah, I must have missed the part of the video where Norm asked Adam to build his kit for him? If you're a teacher or a Dad, please don't do this. Let people make some mistakes, and you can correct, but don't immediately grab it from their hands and do it. Adam does this quite a lot actually, and I wonder if he's aware of it. I wouldn't be too thrilled if I was Norm. For me, the fun is in the building, not watching someone do it for me.

I can't speak for him, I just thought I was helping but I was way across the line of helping and I was doing. I forget the name of the glue, however any glue that's used in restoration (both in painting and sculpture) and is under the grant of "reversible glue" is an excellent tool in the arsenal of a perfectionist model builder. You can fit and finish parts and then take them apart as many times as you want using it, because usually, it only takes a bit of warm water or some non destructive solvent to take parts apart.
    I usually use a little bit of diluted fish glue for my models, makes final assembly for paint an easy task as all the parts are fitted and no longer hold that quality of amplified mistakes as each part takes its toll.

    That is a beautiful kit... as a prop maker and machinist the price on this is really good value... can't afford one sadly and they'd never allow them here in the UK anyway as any replica of a design made after 1869 is restricted and requires special dispensation to own.

    My toptip, Injection needles make GREAT disposable superglue applicators, just buzz the sharp part of with a dremel or something (sanding disk seems to work better then a cutting disk) they are cheap enough to treat them as basically single use, but i often use some compressed air to blow out them out at the end and then you can get a few days of working time out of each. Not bad for a 5 cent piece... Incase anyone cares i use 0.8x16mm, and they drop directly onto the tip of zap-a-gap brand superglue bottles

      @@ryansizemore5064 "Double what it should be" according to who? $400 isn't a lot in the world of small-scale production replicas of that caliber. It's the price of a larger Lego set. But if you think you can do it for half the price be my guest. Everyone would welcome you for it.

    • @Shaunmjallen
      @Shaunmjallen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the original and prequel blasters are based on real guns mocked up to look like blasters, I'm glad the Mandalorian continues that tradition. The guns have a real and functional look. Unlike all of those blasters from the new movies, they were designed on computer and 3d printed and it shows. They look like fake plastic guns.

    Cool build. So glad that only a few original Bergmann pistols were ever made so that nobody can ever get their hands on one to wreck in making a cosplay prop. If anyone does by some crazy coincidence have one of the originals, they are worth a small fortune so just sell it and buy every Star Wars cosplay toy you can think of.

    I once had a extra thin super glue accident where the bottle squirted when I took the cap off and a drop ended up in my eye. Scared the living shit out of me. Quickly forced my eye open with my fingers, and with my good eye and free hand googled what I should so. It was probably just a very small droplet and rinsing with cold water fixed it for me, but now I'm always extra careful with the extra thin CA glue

    They'd be crazy to have re-engineered the trigger mechanism, I'm sure they just used CnC and worked up the CAD model directly from the Bergmann blueprints. None of the internals will have been changed for the prop, so it would make sense.

      I buy the surgical masks, take an exacto knife and make a small incision at the end of the included crappy nose wire. Pull that nose wire out, cut lead free solder wire and heat the ends a bit with a torch to soften them, and insert into the channel for the nose wire. Talk about a great fit over the nose. It works really great.

    Serious prop QUESTION for ADAM about recent ALEC BALDWIN accidental shooting on set. Regarding props on set, I've always wondered why firearms used in films are real when everything else is more or less a nonfunctional fabrication.
    My question: Is it possible for the best makers in the industry to design and build prop firearms that look, feel, and only APPEAR to operate like actual firearms, (i.e. muzzle flash, recoil, proper weight, load/unload clips and PROP cartridges, etc.), only they fundamentally operate in such a completely different manor that projectile discharge isn't even a functional possibility, even if the props malfunction?
    Has this already been done and I just missed it? If so, why has this new tech in prop firearm design NOT become the film industry standard?
    Thank you for being AWESOME, Adam!
