Feldbergring Assetto Corsa Mod Track Review (Sim Racing)

  • Today I'm taking a look at the wonderful Feldbergring Assetto Corsa mod track by Fat-Alfie.
    Regular views of my Assetto Corsa track mod reviews may be wondering why I've not included a complete onboard lap in this video. Well, it's a long circuit. I did record a lap in the Lotus 25, but I felt it made the video drag on for quite a long time.
    Feldbergring was one of those amazing pre-war European race venues, where the organisers didn't let such trifling matters as practicality, safety, or sanity get in the way of their racing aspirations. And thanks to the hard work of Fat-Alfie, we can now enjoy Feldbegring for Assetto Corsa. Sim racing at it's finest.
    If you're interested in downloading the Feldbergring mod track for Assetto Corsa then you can do so by following the link to Race Department below. And if you enjoy the mod, don't forget to leave its creator a review and/or leave a donation.

    Been trying this out over last few weeks, easily this and Thomson are some the best tracks for the game so far. I exclusively drive vintage cars, so these are a welcome addition. This is why I love sim racing, these are tracks that are almost lost to time, we can race these with any car combo we like. Makes this hobby very rewarding!
    Good video as always, keep up the good work!

      Thanks Alan. As you may have guessed from my content, I do tend to favour older cars - to be more precise, older racing cars. It doesn't really make a lot of sense to me to drive a Lola T70 or a Jaguar D Type around a modern 'carpark' circuit. So as you say, having venues that are very much 'of their time' is really valuable!

    WOW....!!!! 🤤 Chris this is just rediculous...!!! 🤔 The quality of the content that you produce is amazing and akin to a "PBS" special. "PLEASE" continue working your magic while developing these episodes. This is broadcast quality IMO...!!! 👌 Thank you..., Thank you..., Thank you...!!! 🤗👍🏽👍🏽

    It's so rewarding to learn this track and gradually find more and more speed in corners that jump out of the mist and bite you. It's another gem - both the video and the mod. More, please. :)

      Thanks again Stephen - I really do appreciate the comments. It's a wonderful track, and one I can see myself spending a lot of time on, working out some of the (literal and figurative) kinks. Some of those downhill braking zones are a real challenge!

    I've used this a few times on my server for some TH-cam streams and it's been brilliant in pretty much any car. It's even fun in modern cars like LMP1 cars.

      @izzieb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chris Haye It's fun as hell to blitz it in any high downforce car tbh. It's tricky in the village though, but feels so good in the sweeping fast corners.

    Nice review, I had previously downloaded the mod but I must admit I had forgotten about and and as such I've never actually run it. Recently subbed to your channel and I'm pleased with the quality content you're putting out and at such a frequent pace, keep up the great work. If you want a tip of what to feature next the Le Mans 2017 has somewhat timely received a bunch of updates in the last few days, I'm sure we've all got a bit more Le Mans fever left in us to watch a review. :)

    • @ChrisHaye
      @ChrisHaye  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment and the kind words Nitzer24 - much appreciated. Funilly enough, this video is a couple of days late because I failed to get it completed before the weekend, and, well, Le Mans comes first! Out of interest, which version of Le Mans are you talking about? I know about the RFactor 2 endurance pack, which I'm hoping to get to play with this evening. But if there's more out there I'm all ears!

      There was one for AC released on RaceDepartment pretty much just as the IRL race started - it's been updated three times in the last two days so I think the guy is still working on it. It seems good to me although I suspect the Tertre Rouge corner is a little too sharp. www.racedepartment.com/downloads/circuit-24h-lemans-2017.2482

    Thank you for bringing this track to my attention, in reality and otherwise.
    In some respects, Feldbergring has an uncanny resemblance to Solitude Ring. Also, from what I can find, the Feldbergreneen started out as a hillclimb in the 1920s and '30s. Winners included Hans Stuck, Paul Pietsch, and Bernd Rosemeyer.

    • @ChrisHaye
      @ChrisHaye  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny you should mention that, I came across Solitudering when I was researching the background to Feldberg. Desipte it's brief F1 connection, I'd never happend upon the place before. As for Hans Stuck (Sr), he's a figure I really must read into - I'm quite well versed in the exploits of his son, but I must admit, my knowledge of pre 1960's motorsport has lots of significant blanks!

      Chris Haye For me was the PC version that makes me so nostalgic! I spent a lot of time trying to lose the cops at that track haha. The track is the same in both platforms as I remember. I'll give it a try for sure!

    You make the best AC videos. So cinematic. You have so many cool mods... night time, headlights, old school alfas... I'm clearly missing out... what processor are you running. I seem to have issues with my i5 6600k overclocked above 18 cars... also eunning 1080ti in VR.

    • @ChrisHaye
      @ChrisHaye  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank Jon - much appreciated. I'm running an 8700k at the moment... and its possible to got the dreaded 100% CPU Occupancy warning even then. Some cars are more resource intensive than others, especially when it comes to mod cars. AC is a fantastic sim, but it's not without foibles!

    • @jonberg469
      @jonberg469 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even with all of its issues. Its the only sim the works every time. I play raceroom and project cars 2 and those only start up 70% of the time

      Hey Teabagged, thanks again. You should definitely give Feldbergring a try - it's top notch.
      At the moment I'm using a Shure SM7B (Mic) through a Golden Age Pre 73 (Preamp) and Golden Age Comp 54 (Compressor) for my voice-over work.

      Jokes aside - impressive setup! But I read on your channel desc that you're a music guy, so it makes sense. I know what I'm getting for Christmas this year ;)
      Keep it up!

      Teabagged Ihr seid Euch sehr ähnlich. Du machst auch super informative Videos. Absolut empfehlenswert und ein Genuss Deiner angenehmen Stimme zu lauschen. (Ich meine das ernst; wir Deutschen sind nicht so gut darin, Positives zurückzumelden, meistens konzentrieren wir uns auf das Negative. )
      Wo ich Dir schon schreibe: Kannst Du mal in einem Video erläutern, warum Du "Teabagged" heißt? Habe gestern gegoogelt und war schockiert. 😉😁
