    Excellent tutorial Mate , so much easier than trying to keep tension on everything with the fg while the boat is rolling and pitching etc,etc……

    Finally someone who shows how to do the SC KNOT well. I had to do it several times before I understood and indeed I found that having the "D" shape was really essential, and doing at least 20 laps depending on the fluoro and the braid. While the FG I manage to do it very short, (8 to 10 turns) on any thread. Although it is very short. I love the mini FGs of a few small millimeters on very thin diameters. I have been doing FG for more than 10 years, I have my own way of tightening it differently, I have less distortion because I do the ball on the fluoro before tightening. Before I did after but I had a big distortion on the fluoro too, I attenuated it well, I perfected the Fg in my own way and it suits me very well.

      It’s an interesting knot hey

      Do you finish it w/ the Rizzuto or just half hitches?

    Is it more feasible (especially for a novice) and beneficial for the strength of the knot in combo with the ease of tying,, to go with or stick with the FG knot? I mean if you're not doing heavy duty saltwater fishing? I went through many vids of people tying this and got frustrated quickly when there was no verbal guidance and just music playing. Stopped at yours and appreciated the instructions and visual aid. Thank you very much for that.

    Hey!! I really enjoy your videos and I'm being honest your FG knot is the best! Could you please do it again but with the style of rope you have now so it's easier to see

      I’ve got so many other videos I’d like to make first. What part of the fg do you find challenging?

      @@mbcustomlures7496 I do 15 turns for the FG, you say make sure you follow the correct direction with the rizzuto I can't tell which is the correct way haha I will have to try with rope to understand the knot better

      @@junsadventures watch the SC video it’s the same. Add the half hitch too it’s a little extra insurance

    Nice video! I’m an FG user, a happy one, but I’m really curious to test the SC at some point. From the microscope view, it seems that FG would perform better for spinning because it’s thinner, and SC could be a good alternative for jigging. I have watched some tests here on TH-cam and they seem comparable for resistance

      I guess it’s just another option to play with and find what suits your style and preference. Enjoy

    The 1 thing that allows the SC knot to fail are the locking loop Braids that continually get worn down and weakened with every guide pass. FG for small FG or PR for heavy- as good as it gets

    • @Le_person_au
      @Le_person_au ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point. SC maybe better for jigging

    • @miamiwax5504
      @miamiwax5504 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well that's kind of the same with any leader to braid connection isn't it? You should always avoid your knot hitting the guides if it's possible.

    • @mbcustomlures7496
      @mbcustomlures7496  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know I’ve never thought about the tag end of the leader smacking the guides every cast. I think this can cause the knot to shift/bed in as they do

    How does this compare go a GF KNOT?

    Im following the steps but it isnt self locking all the time, sometimes it locks sometimes it doesnt and I can't think why. Because if it doesnt self lock no matter what finishing knot you put it will all slide off the mono.

      Try holding the leader in your teeth as you tension the knot. Please use your back teeth so you don’t damage your front teeth.

    I'm a bass fisherman. Either of these two knots is absolutely stupid overkill for fresh water fishing. When are you ever going to use lines of this weight in fresh water fishing? The 30lb braid yes but 50lb leader. Ridiculous.
