  • This test is focused on the performance and battery of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Exynos 2400 vs S23 Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The test is focused on Wi-Fi and 5G gaming. I played Asphalt 9, PUBG Mobile, Subway Surfers, Genshin Impact, and Chess on Google Chrome mobile browser. I wanted to put the theory of the S24 Exynos running hot on 5G into test, and to see if the phone has thermal issues. I reviewed the camera comparison of Samsung Galaxy S23 vs S24, which you can find in the channel. Also, I did test the speed and daily battery life in another video on the channel.

    It's ridiculous that they are releaseing a new phone that's worse than last generation, and marketing it as just S24 worldwide, when the Exynos version is worse than S23.

    Really enjoying your work with all the exynos vs snapdragon videos. What would be interesting besides battery and temperature would be performance. Like in the genshin impact segment there were scenes where both phones dropped from 60fps. Would be interesting if the exinos is throttling more that the snapdragon (even if it still runs hotter 😢) and therefore gives out less performance whilst still beeing hotter or if it can at least beat the last gen sd in sustained performance.
    EDIT: didn't watch till the second genshin segment but it would be still interesting for the 5g because of more heat. But for the future you could try to keep the phones on the same sides, as an example in the second pubg the s23 was on top and s24 on bottom and in the second genshin it was reversed.

S23 is just more resilient no matter the app. Get the S23 trust me

      I literally have both of them. The battery is better on the s24+ from the s23+. Also, download speeds are actually insanely faster and the screen is brighter. Not to even mention, the AI features and 7 years of OS updates.

    • @Flash363
      @Flash363 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    • @jordanjackson8873
      @jordanjackson8873 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Flash363 I just can't see the s23 being more efficient with battery than the s24. The differences are practically the same. The s24 and s24+ both have bigger batteries than their predecessor with the snapdragon 8 gen 3 on top of that. Hell, my s24+ even runs on QHD now and still has better battery life. I just don't think your sentiments are plausible, especially seeing as multiple battery tests have been done between the 2.

    • @Flash363
      @Flash363 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @jordanjackson8873 I'm just stating my personal testing from an anecdotal standpoint. Of course no one wants to hear that last year's model has better battery life, because it invalidates your purchase in a way.
      Yes the battery size on the s24s are larger, but the difference in the 23 vs 24 is 100 mah which is a negligible difference. But the problem is precisely what you mentioned, the 8G3. You stated the S24s have the new processor as if it was more efficient and its not. Did you see the comparison videos between the 8G3 and 8G2? Preferably the ones from geekerwan. He states the 8G3 does produce higher scores when it comes to CPU but at the cost of a higher power draw. And heat. The 8G2 is the true successor to the 865. It runs efficient and cool. The 8G3 even while watching TH-cam/ twitch does get warm in my S24.
      Like I said that's just the difference I see in my own personal testing while I decide which device to send back to samsung.

    Thank you for this test!
    I think you should a few more tests that can reveal a lot of things, and all related to modems:
    Put two sim cards into both phones, and disable 5g
    1 - do a voice call over 4g (like teams or zoom)
    2 - do a video call over 4g
    3 - do a normal gsm call 2hr
    4 - some kind of google maps tests?
    5 - just put the phones into a metal box overnight with only gsm, gps, and bluetooth enabled
    Im asking this, because i think the main feature in a phone, that you can reach other people, and can navigate with it.
    I have an older exynos, and its really sucks because its just eats up my battery trough the modems...
    (s20fe, 4500mah battery, brightness restricted, 60hz only etc... Sometimes i just have 3 hr sot because of the modems)
    I hope that you can help me if should i buy the S23 or the S24...

    I'm curious to see if the performance, heating and battery life will get better with updates. The iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max suffered a lot with overheating issues when it launched, so I hope Samsung will fix this with updates. But they have to make heat management their number one priority going forward, no one wants to hold an oven in their hands.

      @jmydy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      iPhone 15 Pro/Max have been released with poor hardware and nothing will change it now. It has been explained by Vadim Yuryev - processors manufactured by tsmc had poor efficiency, voltage had to be increased to get good performance results. So they did increase voltage and it resulted in overheating and bad battery life. As he said we'll have to wait for iPhone 16 pro to get better CPU.

    Interesting thing that in the exynos version is amd gpu and judging by previous versions of exynos, it must perform better for example in genshin when it runs vulkan instead of open cl. Also seen some tests where exynos 2400 performs better than snapdragon in a lot of games but has more bugs and artifacts. Its easier to see on s24+ version, cause the cooling system is a bit better than s24 because of the size.

    I mean, Exynos was always at least one generation behind the SD. AMD chips helped a little, but not that much. Newest Exynos APU is +/- SD8 G2. If you would put S24+ (Exynos 2400) Vs. S23U (SD8 G2+), it would be day and night difference in performance. I have Fold 5 - I had a discussion with my friend last night and I run all of the 3dmark benchmarks. Imagine my face, when I found out that SD8 G2+, while rendering in higher res than S24, has much higher scores than the Exynos Versions and only, like 15% less to the SD8 G3+ version (of the Samsung's S24U). What's the point ot upgrade when there's no upgrade

      @Prizm44 I'm sorry for your experience, however If that was the case generally, nobody would want them . As it is all down to programming things can always be tweaked and adjusted . If nothing improved with updates OEMs wouldn't bother as it's an expense they would rather not have .
      Somebody said you can't fix hardware with software which isn't technically true. If something has a chip or sensor that controls it , it can be adjusted through timing , speed , limitation , extension. A battery is hardware but you can control power draw through software .I will admit there is only so much that can be done before the gains turn negative.

    1. Samsung device needs time to adjust its users activities with their phone to optimize its battery usage.
