To be fair, Poland's cavalry actually did a pretty good job against the German armor. They were equipped with anti-tank rifles; not lances.
At least they didn't put all of their defences right on the border!

Of course they did, because political considerations outweighed military ones, and so they decided to defend the indefensible industrial regions on the border (like Silesia). Big mistake. Had they not done so history might have been written differently.

So, the Polish air force in '39 had around 800 planes, including fighters, medium bombers, and reconnaissance aircraft. The Germans failed to destroy them on the ground as the Poles dispersed their assets to hidden secondary bases at the moment of invasion and were able to contest the skies for two weeks against the far larger Luftwaffe and the Soviet Air Force at a loss ratio of about 1:1 which, when dealing with German technological and numerical supremacy attests to the superiority of tactical Polish fighter pilot training. And later, of course, Polish pilots contributed disproportionately to the allied win in the air Battle of Britain, shooting down 20% of total German casualties, even though they constituted only 10% of the Allied manpower and were introduced late in the battle. There. See, I made you a little wiser today, and your life just a tad less empty. Congratulations. :)

The Polish Calvalry had anti tank rifles and they didn't charge the Panzers. The Poles also played a major role in the Battle of Britain.

It was one fighter squadron in Britain and one destroyer. And yeah the fighters kicked some ass but they weren't quite pivotal, they were good and certainly pulled more than their weight, but overall they didn't make or break the battle. The destroyer did manage to almost singlehandedly save the isle of wight from a bomber raid though.
They also did have a Army group fighting with the British if I recall. Also there was inmate 4859. I think the 303rd was the fighter squadron with then third highest kills if I recall

Anyways Poland is literally the country that got damaged the most. Instead of writing something heroic I want to write how bad they suffered in ww2. They where the biggest victim there. And it is very sad since Poland was quite young still back then.

I'm not sure that the standard First Order TIE had a hyperdrive because it doesn't mention it in the incredible cross sections book and in the battle at Maz's canteen you only see special forces TIEs which definitely have hyperdrives.

They might have a scout tie variant like the Empire had. The comms array is built into the frame ? There’s definitely room for a hyperdrive and a nave computer in the cockpit if they wanted too. If the A wing can have one. Hell anything can lol.

I want to know what happened to the First Order after the last movie! There’s no way the entire first order was destroyed. They knew how to be mobile. I thought it was BS when they showed Ewoks taking down a Resurgent Class Battlecruiser! I can imagine a large portion of the fleet retreating back to the unknown regions with their new children they were ordered to take. Perhaps imperial sympathizers even took their families and went with them. Remember a large amount of Imperial leaning systems withdrew from the New Republic before the First Order Invasion! In the unknown regions the First Order had planets they controlled. So they have places to go just west of the Western Reaches. They could rebuild without Sith interference, using the storehouses and ship building stuff left over from their rise.
Right that’s just impossible to me.

I was under the impression that the Empire had been developing the TIE Interceptor as a replacement for the TIE fighter. If so, it's a pity we did not see the First Order using slightly updated Interceptors, which look cooler anyway. I suspect I know the out-of-story explanation, but wonder what it would be in-story.
The Interceptor was indeed a replacement for the Tie Fighter, a response to the A-wing while still being modular, cheap to produce, and compatible with existing spare parts and production facilities

I believe the First Order Tie fighters had life support because Finn and Poe flew one without wearing the suit wore by the Imperial Tie fighters' pilots.

Similarly to how after the American Revolution the Continental army was downsized and broken into local state militias to be called up when need be as the people of that time where very much distrusting of any central authority holding to much power.

That just shows that you didn't understand the purpose of Starkiller Base
you know if you think about it blowing up coruscant was actually a good thing, it basically eliminated all the corruption in the new republic in one fell swoop, but whats next likely to happen is a transition to a galactic federation of allied systems like in legends, leading to a far more potent military force.
You talked about the X-wing upgrades like call of duty but in modern military practice is to uprade craft as long as the design is of strategic value and X-wings are still a valuable asset to the new republic and resistance.
But there has to be a way to improve it. The X-Wing is fine, but it's shield is underpowered and it's profile is gigantic for a fighter craft. Something with greater speed would be a greater benefit, maybe a A-Wing with an upgraded shield, as the B-Wing fulfills the Heavy-Fighter/Bomber role perfectly.
on top of it it's pretty rare for any aircraft to be in service for 10 years with a first rate airforce, let alone 30. And even if it is in most cases it takes a supporting role for new top of the line aircraft. For example the American F-15 has been in service for almost 30 years but it already has a replacement, the F-22, neither see a lot of combat due to current wars not fitting their roles but in the event of a war with a competent enemy air force, the f-22 will take the front line while the F-15 will likely support it, and that's assuming a war occurs during the remainder of the F-15's service life. So i find it a little ridiculous that in 30 years not only have the republic not made a replacement for the X-wing, but that their current model x-wings have extremely little differences between the ones used in the original trilogy. Also why would the first order use Tie Fighters when the Empire already made replacements for the tie fighter back in the original trilogy? (Tie Interceptors and Defenders) They already had superior craft so why bother improving the inferior design? It's a sci fi universe it's supposed to be fun and creative and the new trilogy is really neither, it takes itself way too seriously and it doesn't have an original thought in the entire process it's almost dedicated to being like "hey remember when you saw this in the original trilogy and thought it was so cool? Well here it is again!" I mean hell, say what you want about the Prequels, but at least they tried to do something new and expand upon the star wars universe
warhawk9566 They should have at least made tie interceptors the primary imperial fighters and given them shields. They could have used juggernauts instead of more AT-ATs. If they wanted to get really creative, they could have used mobile battle platforms. Tie defenders should be 20% of imperial fighters at this point.
Bill Clark Right? I get that the first order doesn't have the resources of the empire but they did have superior Tie's, they were already in service. IDK about Juggernauts. They were older than AT-AT's and had less armor but I feel they could've done something better with walkers other than something stupid like giving it hands.
warhawk9566 I feel like juggernauts can have upgraded armor and their firepower is more than AT-ATs. Plus it would still be more original than AT-ATs in the 2nd movie. I mean, they can fire multiple missiles at a time, habe turbolasers in addition to that, and a sniper tower. All AT-ATs have are the primary turrets and the new ones seem that an extra little turret on the AT-AT head and maybe another little turret on the back. Plus if you flank a juggernaut, it can easily reposition it's weapons to fire in another direction.

Isn't it weird how TIE fighters don't vastly outnumber X-wings in star wars. I mean, the Empire gets way more funding than the Rebels and the average TIE fighter cost way less than the average X-wing. The rebel Starfighters should have been outnumbered 10-1 taking into accounts all factors, the Empire is a very wealthy power buying cheap easy to make fighters while the rebels are rebels and therefore a not very wealthy power buying an expensive, more complex and therefore harder to make starfighters yet they always make the number of TIE fighters equal the number of X-wings.

Why does the First order not use a hybrid of clones and droids led by humans raised by the First Order, instead of just regular humans kidnapped as children. The one human leads a squad of clones, and each human and clone leads a squad of droids. Combination of abilities and droids and clones would be cheaper but more reliable the humans. Same for starfighters, most of the fleet should be comprised of drones led by an organic pilot.
The First Order doesn´t use clones because Sheev messed up the relationship with the Kaminoans and they don´t use droids because Sheev had forbidden the production and use of battledroids. It´s all because Sheev.
What Stephen said, but I have to admit, a combined human/droid force would be neat. Maybe they could finally introduce Dark Troopers that way.

now i know a lot of people thought it was unrealistic that the first order could build all those ships with the treaty that ended the GCW well the answer is quite simple the companies and worlds that manufactured those ships never joined the new republic so they were no beholden to their laws or treaties and the first order is not the empire they are a new government as such the treaty does not apply to them
they were also in unknown space
and you had sympathetic senators within the new republic senate (either planted or genuinely aligned with the FO) who stymied any sort of meaningful response to the FO.

Why didn't they use TIE Interceptors instead of the Standard TIE fighters? X-Wings are fast, but Interceptors run circles around them. Give them a shield and maybe some concussion missiles and you have a fantastic space superiority fighter. The Standard TIE Has a HUGE profile, and is less effective in atmosphere.
That might be a budget or (more likely) a resource problem

Because yes, in twenty years radical improvement can happen, especially if you aren’t bound by air resistance and stuff like that, especially considering that in a similar time period, we got from Arc-170 fighter to X-wing, obviously linked, but obviously different from one another, it could’ve been possible to make different fighters, especially since the X-wing has some obvious and massive flaws.

These books Blows this out the park and these were published before you born and that’s not a dig too 👍👍 there was one made for every manufacturer in the starwars universe mimicking the real manuals they made to people who owned vehicles to do home repairs. There’s one for every major ship in starwars 👍👍👍

That kinda fall flat when the Empire had already started the production of improved tie fighter (interceptor I think) that looked very different from the regular tie fighter, or even just Vader’s fighter.
So a little but of creativity would’ve been easy, instead they just said « bigger, badder », which is pisspoor writing considering about everything else is like that, either unchanged, barely changed, or changed in an undetectable way (like tie fighters, which we can hardly tell apart between the movies).
It’s also really dumb that their new destroyers are the same but bigger if they have less resources. If you have less resources, you do like the rebels : smaller ships.
Especially if you can do that without hindering the ships’ power generator, because if you can do that, especially if you can automize systems (which they can), you can strap as many energy weapon than the regular imperial class destroyer, but also more powerful shields. And if you make them smaller, but you don’t want to lose the added menace of bigger ships, then you stil don’t make them bigger, you instead opt for a more sturdy and aggressive profil, and take advantage from the fact that distances are hard to tell in space so no viewer is gonna understand that they are actually smaller, or have the same size.
It’s also pisspoor writing because the First Order was able to pump out these massive destroyers despite the fact that they were creating yet another Death Star, but bigger, and the fact that they had less resources than the Empire.

Wait wait wait... In '39 Poland had a lot of modern weapons like 7-tp tanks, VIS pistols (they were so good that nazis continued production on large scale during the occupation) or "Łoś" light bombers, they just had too little of them and their fighting doctrine, just like the French one, was still in ww1 times. Germans still had their armored forces mainly composed of panzer 2s and 3s, and they used cavalry extensively throughout the war , just like Poland so you can't say that difference in tech is just like it was then because from what I got the New Republic simply had no equipment that could compete with First Orders.

I admit, I find it highly unlikely that we'll see the Eclipse - class Super Star Destroyer. Rather, I think it's an upgraded version of the Executor - class star dreadnought. I also think that we won't see it on screen. Only in the books.
honestly the most likely outcome is that they built up the supremacy around the eclipse to save resources
Eclipse is legends. And still, they did nothing but (for some reason) they pulled Supremacy apart and I guess used it for more star destroyers.
Spoilers if you haven't seen TROS: but then the final order came with their Xyston class ships so it really didn't matter anyway

They should have upgraded the tie interceptor as it was faster more agile better armed and was made to be potentially upgraded with shields hyperdrives and life support
Also, FO TIEs don't seem to be better by any measures. Whole squadron of them got literally slaughtered by few X-wings, who didn't suffer any losses if I remember correctly. They are still getting one-shot, hyperdrive is the only nice addition.
Episode 8 will be episode 5 with a few changes.

In fairness, Starkiller Base was pretty effective.

I was really sad when I realized that the FO doen't use tie interceptors... I mean, they were totally better that a classic tie fighter with more speed and firepower, imagine that fighter type with shield and jump drive (basically the tie avenger).
The best movie in the star wars franchise is The Empire Strikes Back . Hint hint , the Rebels lost in that one or rather the rebels are sent fleeing . I know im gonna get a lot of flak for this but their needs to be movie after movie of rebels barely getting away with lost limbs friends dying, betrayals redemptions and life damaging escapes leaving the hero far worse off escalating the status of the villain to new heights. How would the fan base react to villain enhancing win after win or a climactic ending where the empire wins it all but also at great cost to limb and life.

The Upsilon class looks very incomplete and the wings fold so little in flight and landing mode, I wonder why they even bothered.

The resistance bombers look like crap and totally unplayable for video game purposes.
Really wished they had some new take on the Y-wing and TIE Bomber.
New AT-ST looks less derpy.
