I find it really funny how they drew Lev about twice as big as Hinata, when realistically Hinata should be just under Lev's shoulder height. It's difference of 30-ish centimeters, which is 1,5 in volleballs.
But any time HInata is in vicinity of a tall person, he turns into a tiny gremlin child that he is.

yeah 100% - the show really doesn't draw characters to scale because they want to emphasize the "feeling" of the height differences. Style thing but it can be kind of offputting in an otherwise pretty *realistic* show.

Regarding your question at @22:03 Lev wasn’t being rude per se, it was just that he was using really informal Japanese with Kenma at @21:45, who is considered his senior, and hierarchy is still a very big part of Japanese culture. According to this culture, he should be using a more polite form of Japanese when asking for Kenma to set the ball to him.
But Kenma doesn’t care about that. In Kenma’s backstory (during S1), he’s seen being bossed around by 3rd years and he expresses the thought that these 3rd years are only slightly older than him, what gives them the right to be so bossy. Then Kuroo encourages him to keep playing, the 3rd years will be gone soon, that the 2nd and 1st years appreciate Kenma.

Finally meeting the man the legendary owl man Bokuto, he can also be a divisive character but im a sucker for silly goofy characters so i always have a great time when he is on screen

There is an OVA that occurred during episode 4, Its called 'VS "Failing Grades" ' (Japanese: VS "赤点あかてん", VS Akaten) it occurs during the first half of the episode.

Bokuto is my favorite non-karasuno character but some ppl don’t like his behavior early on and can’t seem to get over it. I would say give him a couple chances but you’re pretty good on picking things up/knowing there’s more to someone than their first appearance or 2. Hey hey heyyyyyy 🕺🦉

YAY BOKUTO!!!! We haven't learned who the other 3 top 5 aces are yet, you didn't miss it. Training camp is my absolute favorite arc! Such great teams! Don't feel bad, I have watched this show so many times and I can't remember the team names besides Fukorodani and Nekoma, and I watched them in dub. (I have a hard time with subs when there is too much action going on, ADHD scrambles my brain lol plus the english dub is hilarious. Also I know many people who work in the dub industry including my husband) Can't wait for more! I am working on a surprise for you! I can't wait to be able to send it!

lev apologizing for being rude is a language thing. he was being casual with his speech (my japanese isn't great, but i believe the verb he uses is yoku, which would be yokimasu in polite conjugation -- not that it really matters lol). kenma has a running theme of not subscribing to senpai/kouhai (upperclassmen/underclassmen) culture in sports -- i think that's seen in the ova, and the first time he meets hinata (who assumes they're the same age at first). it's a cool aspect of his character, i think, since honourific speech is obviously super important in japanese! looking forward to next episode ✨
i think the verb was yokosu (meaning send or forward, in this context 'give me the ball' kind of meaning)! though tbh saying a polite "yokoshite kudasai' would take way longer to say in a game setting lol, but like you said, honorifics really do be important in japanese!

I rewatched episode 3. For me, Yachi has one of the best character introductions in the series, along with Hinata and Asahi. There's another character whose introduction got me emotional, and I can't wait till you see him.
Bokuto looks like a baby peeking from your shirt. You should wear him more often. 😍🥰😊
The Little Giant looks like a cross between Hinata and Kageyama. Short King with dark hair and intense personality.
Tsukki got hit by the ball because of Kenma. Kenma looks so funny avoiding Bokuto's spike.
Yaku was like a proud parent when he saw Kenma chatting freely with Hinata, lol!
Fun fact about our favourite grandpas. Grandpa Ukai and Coach Nekomata also met in middle school and have been rival ever since. And Grandpa Ukai lovingly calls Coach Nekomata Bakaneko, much like how Kageyama calls Hinata Hinara Boke, lol! I still think that Coach Nekomata and grandpa Ukai are foreshadowing the future of Kageyama and Hinata's friendship.

Lev is apologising cuz he yelled an "order" at a senpai which is disrespectful ("Give it to me!") - Kenma doesnt care tho.
Also it wasnt exactly that Lev was bad at spiking, it was more of Kenma not setting a set he can hit. Kenma needed to improve there more than Lev.
So... it is never specified who Nekoma lost to. Just that they ran into the eventual winner on the second day. From context we can make a pretty safe guess but you will learn about the team eventually - I will try to mention it when it comes up.
We dont yet know who the other aces are :)
Regarding the schools - I just wated to point out that this is the "Fukurodani Practice Group" so they are the center team that brings all of these people together for the practice.
Also regarding the improvement - its not a question of staying the same strength but more of "do you just want to polish what you have and work on your game or are you ready to uproot the path you found to look for something better" - Similiar to the Lev thing. Nekomata saw that just being good at recieving didnt work, so instead of polishing that even more, he added Lev to cause an imbalance
Naming Window:
Fukurodani: Includes the symbol Fukuro (梟) which means "Owl" - their animal is Owl as well (and in fact they look like Owls too)
Ubugawa: Includes symbols for River and Freshness - it could imply a place where a river starts. Not the most crazy meaningful name.
Shinzen: Includes symbols for Forest and Natural - Again not the most complicated or interesting name.
Now the fun one:
Kōtarō Bokuto - Bokuto is a unique name that combines the symbol for Wood and Rabbit. While this would be kind of random in fact the kanji is taken from the word for Horned Owl. So Bokuto means Horned Owl. As for Kōtarō - this could be translated as "Great light", it is a name fit for an elite ace and the star of the team :P

Probably too late commenting here but wanted to point out that for as strong as the team was in the first season, they realize that their renaissance was largely off the freak quick. While strong, the rest of the team relied on that as their be all end all. This season will be them acknowledging that it isn’t invincible (they lost to Seijo) and what they can do individually and as a team
Saeko's car is a type of K-truck. They are small and cheap vehicles made in japan (and other places) for easy transport, usually for farmers and such. Neat little things but you can't buy them in America.

edit: Oh man, how I've laughed and cried with Bokuto. One of my favorite arcs and coming from such a 'simple' character. Don't worry, you get some Bokuto gems already on S2 and you might even cry a little in a few episodes. S2 ROCKS (but s3> and s4>s3 and the rest > all seasons. it really do be like that w/ haikyuu)

If we were watching the show from another team's point of view, you would also think that Hinata improved way too much, way too fast, and is a prodigy after not seeing him for 3 months (?). But it's actually mostly Kageyama's toss propping Hinata up.
It's also a tiny detail, but Kenma running to cover that ball is part of his evolution. He personally admits his laziness and lack of passion for volleyball. The Nekoma style of having great receivers pass the ball to him perfectly serves and spoils Kenma's style of laziness. But because Kenma had to match up with Lev, their newbie wild card, Kenma has been forced to try new stuff and put more effort than usual.

I am sorry to bring this up but the word "acoustic" as a way to say "autistic" unfortunately now used as an insult :( It was an in-joke but now a lot of people use it derogatory. So if you can please just say "autistic". We claim Kageyama as ours of course :)
Agreed here. It's hard to say the author's intent with it because it's never been confirmed but Kageyama is definitely autistic-coded, and just calling him "autistic" non-insultingly seems valid, or just not mentioning it. Calling him "acoustic" or calling his traits autistic as an insult though is really shitty.
