Tesla Insurance Will Be The CHEAPEST - Here is Why

  • Tesla has been offering insurance for several years now but as of right now it is only available in 3 states: California, Texas and Illinois. They are going to roll out the insurance to more states soon and it should be cheaper than most other companies. I also give you the option of using Cover insurance to see if they can get you a better rate.

I tried that app cover and the price that it came back it’s higher than what I’m paying right now through Costco insurance. I am new with the Tesla insurance and it is $100 even per month but with my safety score next month it’ll drop down to either 60 or $64 depending if I’m at 99 or 100% this is definitely a win for me with the Tesla insurance even though I may have to curtail some of my driving habits but that’s OK it’s worth the savings I will keep my other car under Costco insurance in Tesla does not ensure other brand vehicles at this time

Today I called and canceled tesla insurance. Had it for a month and my safety score was at 99 but every time I was at or about to get back to 100 I got dinged. During this month I got 2 hard breaking due to green light turning yellow and was not gonna run the red light and possibly get into a wreck. Tesla seems to want you to run the light vs stop. On both occasions I was driving 5 miles under the speed limit. The other ding I got during this month was for a car in front of me about 10 car lengths and the collision warning went off, wtf. I already was driving defensively and even more once I got the tesla insurance. This last ding cause me to have to drive 700+ miles to get back to 100 score which let me to cancel policy. This is infuriating and I am starting to not enjoy driving the car and focusing on not getting dinged vs driving the car. When I called to cancel they asked why and I explained this. He understood and said a couple of the parameters are still being worked on. Costco auto ins may be a little more but I can go back to relax and enjoy driving the car.

When I first got my tesla three December 28, 2020, the cheapest quote for insurance was through Tesla insurance.
In September believe it or not my wife and another Tesla were in a parking lot and they backed into each other.
Basically it’s a 50-50 at fault. And let’s get into trying to get the car fixed. I have sent Tesla everything they wanted. I have received no communication in the last three weeks. My adjuster won’t answer his phone I’ve had to make three complaints to his manager then he would answer his phone. Tells me all the things he was going to do for me, but he did nothing.
The other car insurance company I use for the rest of the cars has decided to drop their rates on Tesla. They wanted around $200 a month in 2020 all they want now is $89 a month. Full coverage 100/300 $500 deductible.
I have already started the new coverage. I was waiting to get my car in the shop and then I was going to cancel Tesla. But that didn’t happen I didn’t want to slow down the process more by canceling my insurance before I get into the shop.
I don’t care anymore I’m canceling Tesla insurance don’t buy it absolutely zero service when you have a problem.

I think Tesla and their “insurance branch” makes sense. They already know that their cars are safer than most cars and better at avoiding accidents in the first place. Also with the car’s 8 cameras, there will be a record of which driver is at fault. Which means that in most cases, the other drivers insurance will have to pay for the claims involved. From their perspective, it’s not really that much of a gamble when the data is so obvious. Plus, if and when FSD is considered safer than the typical human driver, Tesla can offer huge discounts to Tesla drivers that primarily use FSD. Maybe even package FSD with their car insurance. I know that FSD seems like it’s a decade away from reality, but I think in the next three to five years, it’ll be accepted and normalized in the industry.

My Safety Score is 98, and I still enjoy the performance of my Model S LR, with the exception of hard braking, for which you get dinged! I can still accelerate aggressively, in fact I’ve named my car “Scoot!” In CA, Tesla Insurance came in at half the price of my former provider!

Re investing in Tesla shares. Margin is critical. Their Quarterly Gross Profit Margin has grown QOQ since Q4 2020. Now at 27.35%. FSD software is almost fully paid for the hardware is already in place so success with FSD will create improved GPM. This margin opportunity is very important vs other car manufacturers. Considering entry position to support my model y order. With insurance they have best view of all of risk but should consider aligning with other insurance companies for home and other car insurance

Well Teslas insurance is stupid cheap compared to what we are paying now but I am skeptical because my daughter has a Ford and I dont know how their claims process is for a Ford. Whats also painful is I have paid my premium for 6 months and AFC wants an additional $400 something for 6 months for the Tesla and this is a little painful. Tesla imsurance is way cheaper even though its monthly I dont want to pay through the nose if I dont have too. Good move? I may try this cover app too just to see where they come in.

Maybe you’re wondering how the windshield could possibly cost more than 1K. $1700 is what Tesla charged me to replace the frigging windshield. That is so out of line I can’t believe it myself. Anyway, getting back to the insurance claim, it’s always a headache dealing with an adjuster. As I recall, tesla themselves are not the underwriter. There is another company involved that actually handles the claims.

If you want to be a speed demon and put that pedal to the metal then Tesla insurance isn't for you. But if you want to be a safe driver or if you are a safe driver then I think it's a good option.
I think since it may be coming to Arizona it would be good to get with someone in your area that's using it for a few months and then see how it compares to your coverage. You may find that it's cheaper. Especially since the formula traditional insurance companies tend to not be all that accurate.
