Agreed with the Regen braking option getting eliminated. With Track Mode on a performance model, you still have the ability to control this even with the 2021 and beyond models. I've set up a "Snow Mode" in track mode to lower regen and enhance traction control - works well.

One of the best thing that is different from the 20 to the 21 is the back of the 21 Tesla model y is that it’s made of one big mold instead of several parts, which gives the car more support. I believe that the plan is to do that for the front end as well. What do you think of these modifications?

Around June 2021 there was a switch to the bigger battery packs. This was mostly due to the fact that the manufacturer of the batteries had a target goal to increase energy density a certain percentage each year. There were some people that even after June 2021 were still getting the smaller battery pack. I think the transition fully completed around September or October 2021 so pretty much all model Ys coming out of the factory have the 82 kWh battery pack. I don’t think Tesla has reported this because they are going to keep the range identical with all previously produced model wise the only difference being the buffer is going to be larger on the newer vehicles therefore the appeared degradation of the battery will be less on the newer models because there is a larger buffer space. @beardedteslaguy has a video about the new pack

We have a model Y LR on order with delivery July 22. However, we are reconsidering because Tesla has no radar for backup alert, no HUD( heads up display), no blind spot alert on side mirrors, and no 360 bird view. Also, the limited choice of colors is a turn off. The Kia EV6, Ionic 5, and Genesis EV6 offer all these features. Tesla has the Supercharger network which we like.

I have a 2021 model Y and it’s great. Drove it to South Carolina in the fall, and having the supercharger system was awesome!
Now if you don’t really plan on doing road trips, any electric car would do just fine. I never use supercharger otherwise, just plug in my garage overnight and it’s always topped off!
There are features I wish it had like the ones you mentioned, if you’re used to them then I would get something else. I sold one of my Subarus to replace with the Y, so it was an upgrade lol.
Hate to also say but my new Outback has a softer/more comfortable suspension than the Y too haha.
Either way, you have time on your side to think about your purchase. Worst case-you use it for a bit and sell it if you don’t like it, the resale value is great on these! Everyone I’ve met with them have some complaints about the features but overall love the car. I absolutely like how safe this car is and that’s one of the reasons I own it. 🍻 ✌️

Well if you pay for full self driving and get into the beta many of those warning features are kind of built into FSD. Rumor has it that 360 bird’s eye view is going to be an upgrade for those that paid for FSD. They just added camera view turns on when you hit turn signal for blind spots.

Sold my 2020 model Y a month ago for $58k. Here are my takeaways:
    - autopilot is awesome for highway driving. This is the feature I miss most
    - the ability to control cabin climate via the app and set as desired is great. I miss this second most (it’s 15° in nj today…)
    - the voice controls integrated with the screen and media controls is highly underrated. Speaking commands (media, climate, etc) is great and the software is highly accurate in its interpretation. Miss this third most
    - while the Tesla’s tech is great, it’s missing stupid simple shit. It has a bunch of cameras but doesn’t have 360° view, blind spot warnings/cameras when changing lanes, a bunch more minor features that I can’t recall at the moment
    - the battery life is no-where near EPA numbers. any non-epa-testing conditions will result in drastically less mileage. It’s far worse than gas cars in this regard. In the dead cold of winter in NJ, I got about 50% stated range which was really frustrating.
    - the Tesla is a toy. Drive any car in a comparable price range, and you’ll know exactly what I mean in regards to quality, stature, overall premium feel (I bought an X5). I had fun with the Tesla, and will def buy an EV in the near future as I believe the EV market will be better in a couple of years (battery life, range, build, affordability)

Curious…. You listed the tech features as what you missed most but valued the more premium feel of the BMW. Had you driven BMWs before and went back or are you still looking for the right fit?
I’m doing the opposite right now, leaving BMW to get a Tesla. My friends think I will not be able to live with the less premium fit and finish. I’m hooked on the driving dynamics though, which is what got my into BMW originally. I feel like BMW is no longer the driver’s machine it used to be.
I test drove a MY and it brought back memories of all the fun I remembered from the 335i coupe - in a crossover?!
Anyway, I guess my real question is was the fit and finish the thing that made you sell the MY or was it the loss of range in winter operations?

    • @cpreid
      @cpreid 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@keongregory3871 the loss of range was probably the most frustrating. A big driver of the decision, was also that I could sell at a steep premium (more than I bought for), and just like driving diff cars every year or so. The Model Y is great, you’ll love it
