Very good Lee, another great and fair review. I like the fact that you walk about with your recording stuff and go the extra mile to give folk a true picture of where you are. Forget the sweat marks, that adds to the reality.

This is yet another place that has changed hands many times over the years. It was terrible, then great, then terrible again. The last one I had there (October 2022) was pretty average.
The trouble is that most of the customers are obviously passing trade, so they don't have to build up a solid customer base. Apart from the residents of course.
Pleasant staff, but standard food.
I hope you enjoy the test of your time in Benelmadena. Why not 'go Spanish' and have an authentic meal in Malaga? It's 25 minutes away on the train. ❤

My favourite is Sweet n sour chicken Hong Kong style with chicken & mushrooms in a black bean sauce and special fried rice.

There are other Chinese dishes that are tasty: General Tso Chicken, Orange Chicken, Beef with Broccoli, Sesame chicken and Pepper steak which is not spicy. I have never seen Fries ( Chips) on a Chinese menu in the United States.
Cashews were raw like from a health food shop not roasted and salted. Chicken balls were in cornflour not batter so won’t be crispy.
Whatever floats your boat...chips and chinese is fine. When I was young, and working the 3 day week back in the 70's, (Heath government?) I shared a bag of chips and a banana fritter from the Chinese with my mate, after 1 pint at the pub. It was all we could afford.
When I was even younger I made cheese and jam sandwiches, now that's controversial
Try the ataranzas market. Always busy and bit touristy but good seafood
Hi Lee, I think I mentioned before the Wok, there is one in the port which is slightly more expensive, but the is one in Benalmadena by the train station, it is almost you can eat if you choose but the food beats anything I have had at home, plus don't miss the market there on a Friday by tivolli world, the park isn't deserted it is open in the evening ❤
That did look fairly average, but the prices were pretty good. Maybe they'd be better off if they raised the prices about 10% and used the extra money to improve the quality of the food.
A case of food quality reflecting the price I'm afraid. Expected Chinese would be hit and miss in that place and expectations confirmed. Better luck next meal Lee! 😁

You said it how it is at the end of the day.i had a Chinese on Los Chris on my last night back along and it was not good.i was gutted but like you the people were lovely,just won't go back xx
Chips at Chinese restaurants are always fries - at least at the ones I've been too.
If you want the proper chips, you've gotta go to a Chinese takeaway (bit like how it's mushy peas at a chippy, and garden peas at a restaurant.)
Believe you were more than fair with score Lee for me I would rather pay more and have quality food ❤

Looked the type of place where if you were out in a group watching a game or what not, had a good few and just wanted something to eat with another few beers then it would hit the spot.
Doing an actual review of it though then there’d probably be a lot better places. That’s the beauty of doing food reviews - you need to try the good with the bad! Or okay ish in this case!
You like what do, but you don't know if you like other meals as you never try them....... please try something else even if just at home off vid to give it a go. I no longer watch the eating and the review bit of the same stuff every time (honest feedback Lee). I watch your vids as they are great fun. I suspect there are 100's of viewers the same? Your travel and looking about vids are bloody brilliant, your a top guy but food reviews bar fish & chips as you know this food, aren't your ticket buddy.
Also, pictures of foods on menus are essential if you are travelling in China or Indonesia and all you can do to communicate is smile & point....been there!
I've been there about 3 times over the past few years with compony Lee, it is popular but I was not impressed on eny occasion..

I am going to say 8/10 great value for miney ,.i have never had salt and pepper chips or frys so cant comment. good hounest review lee.

The only thing I may have differed from you is not having two chicken dishes maybe a nice chilli beef instead otherwise it all looked tickety boo as Bunny from Eldorado used to say, there is a lovely little Chinese called New House Ming along Avenida Las Palmeras off the front.
Those prices are AMAZING. My local Chinese takeaway about 40% more and that's takeaway not sit down. (Sunny North Wales) 😊

Looked alright, not my choice never got the concept of meat with a sweet sauce. Salt and pepper McChips - wheres the onions and chillis?
Looked good!! The local Chinese restaurant we have here I love getting the sweet and sour sauce and pour over my rice and get either sweet and sour chicken or a C16 lol it comes with broccoli beef chicken shrimp it’s soooo good and I get that with some pork fried rice 😋 best food ever in my opinion lol if your ever in Virginia you’ll have to try ours it’s so good

Looks to be highly processed food with loads of salt in it. Bet you are drinking water the rest of the day.
Batter won't be crispy when it's been covered in the Sweet and sour sauce. I find here in the UK crispy shredded beef is never crispy either. Thin and crispy pizza is never crispy either.
Your not in the UK so don’t expect the food to be the same, go with the flow
Those chips or fries i should say look like they should of been served at nandos lol. The price was decent though

I've ate in there a few times but only ever have set menu 7.50, can't go wrong, Sukiyake eat all you like sushi in Fuengirola next mate!
Did not look too bad at all - just seemed like a reasonable joint and some bad decisions made by the orderer. The prices certainly spaff on British ones at the moment.

I could never find the chicken and cashew nuts in Spain. They always used almonds instead.

Had a Chinese from the WOK in benidorm opposite where were staying in flamingo oasis, was more of a Thai raise to it. But the Chinese down the road by the supermarket near the beach in benidorm is lovely. I'm off there again November 19th haha. Them prices Lee look awesome
You did ask what would we have chosen. Well if it were me I would have looked at the Menu and carried on walking. The reason most of it was Westernized Chinese. Chips & Rice??? Seeing what you chose I would have given it a 1.

I think you forgot to order Cantonese style sweet and sour chicken which are crispy. You got chicken balls! Cashew nuts can be eaten raw as you call them.

My favourite from the local Chinese is smoked shredded chicken and chips. Hopefully with chopped red chilli and sliced ginger too. 👌
Yuk Sung starter .. Chicken .. cashew nuts.. beef with mushrooms ..with boiled rice or chips…Washed down with Chinese green tea…. I can only drink Tsingtao beer with Chinese.

The price was cheap so it was a very basic Chinese restaurant in Spain.The sauce for the chicken Hong Kong style there was hardly any and not a lot of veg normally the veg should be quite chunky, Chicken and cashew nuts the only thing saving that Msg. Our favourite are Shredded beef with chilli,Beef, green peppers in black bean sauce and Singapore Rice noodles, Tanya is BBQ Spare Ribs,Beef Cow Mein and Crispy Chicken balls with Sweet and Sour sauce. To be fair you ought to compare the meals against other Chinese restaurants in Benalmadena so as to offer a more unbiased critique.

It all looked very ordinary Chinese food to me. Like you’d get from a high street take away in England in the 70’s and 80’s. I’d give it a 3/10. But if you order basic Chinese food then that’s the risk you take I suppose
I tried the Chinese you recommended in Benidorm Lee had the rice bowl set menu frankly it was poor the standard of Chinese restaurants in Spain is on the slide pile it high and cheap works to a point but not for everyone

That would of cost over 2 times more here in oz, chips no ty ,rice should of had special fried rice, and had crispy shredded beef aswell 6.5/10
I visit Oz regularly from USA - and we find it cheap, so you can guess how much that would cost here.

General Tzo's chicken is the best. I am surprised you don't order that because it's made with Chinese hot peppers but it's also sweet and crispy. I am sure you have it there. Also Egg Rolls are better than spring rolls but I don't think you have that there. You should be eating brown rice instead of that Chinese sticky rice but if you're going to eat the sticky rice, you might as well have fried rice.
Peking Duck is much better than shredded duck. The stuff you order is either kind of bland or sticky sweet and it has almost no vegetables. At least General Tzo usually has broccoli, maybe carrots and Chinese cabbage.
I'm with you. Disappointing. 7/10 very generous. I was thinking 5 ... 6 for being nice. Maybe the locals order different dishes 🤷🏻♂️. I did watch and think, oh he's having a day like I'd have, food not great, flies getting at you and even the table cloth kept flicking up at you 😂

It’s ok saying it’s reasonably priced but if you didn’t enjoy it, whatever you paid is expensive. The sweet and sour chicken balls were obviously soggy as they had sat in the thin sauce, it should be sticking to the balls not for the balls to be sitting in it. Didn’t look the best of Chinese foods but at least you’ve tried it and know not to go back. By the way, I thought you were tee-total now after the health scare but I see you having a beer :( take care of the health and all the best, :)
