    This restaurant name is 人民食堂 "Renmin shitang", which means People's cafeteria, and is all in old Chinese communist style interior. It's a true sight to see. The servers are all wearing old Chinese communism uniforms and the food was delicious to say the least!

    HUGE THANKS to ExpressVPN for offering all Food Ranger viewers 3 months free and 49% off their yearly package using this link: ExpressVPN.com/Thefoodranger . Travelers need ExpressVPN to stay safe online and to unblock any site. I personally use it for Netflix, even while at home in Canada, but also while traveling to unblock content and episodes that are geoblocked, and I also use it for security, because airport wifi and hotel wifi is often very insecure, leaving my data vulnerable. By connecting to one of their servers around the world, it’s just like my computer or phone is in that location, and all data sent while connected to their VPN is secure, safe, and private from others to see, so I know that my data won’t be hacked or looked at by others. Thanks so much for watching, and we have tons more videos coming up for you! Please leave me a comment below letting me know what you thought about this episode, thanks so much!!!

    In case your thinking chinese ppl still dress like this your wrong. The restaurant you see is a themed eatery. The same if you went to a victorian tea house where ppl dress like maids. Its a fun idea people had some really nice lunch box ideas back in the day.

    • @gdisla3879
      @gdisla3879 8 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      I thought it was perfectly normal that they were dressed like that not because I think everybody dresses this way but because I instantly knew the restaurant was themed like it, so don't worry I really doubt anybody in this day and age ACTUALLY thinks chinese ppl dress like that on a daily-basis lol.

    For people who wonder why this guy don't get fat for eating so much Chinese food, actually, most of the Chinese food don't make you fat because there is few or nothing sugar in their food. Chinese people tend to consume more salt than sugar. The main beverage is tea. You can look at the video again carefully, almost no Chinese have obesity in his video. Most of Chinese don't drink the western beverage like Coco cola, Spirit, 7UP etc. most of them also don't eat cake, chocolate, burger, butter, pizza, and chips, what you've seen in this guy's video are most daily food they consumed in China.

    • @liampike8938
      @liampike8938 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bob King what you dont realize is the amount if fat from the meat they eat. There food is also really oily. There are far more calories in oil the. In sugar.

    • @bobking7454
      @bobking7454 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      mike ma You are wrong, the most effective factor to get weight is eating more sugar, while most oil in Chinese foods are vegetable oil instead of animal oil, Chinese people tend to consume lean meat instead of fat meat which means they don't easier get weight, besides, most of Chinese consume tea instead of beverage which contains lots of sugar, this video you have seen are recorded in Sichuan the place where people tend to use more oil and chilli to cook food while most of the Chinese cities don't use that much oil, people tend to consume more vegetables than meat in the rest of China, even people in Sichuan consume more oil and meat than other places, you will don't see people who have obesity in the street(almost no people have obesity), you can come to China and have a look instead of making some fantasy, I had been living in China for 30 years, I'm now living in Australia, I can see the difference of the life style between West and China.

    • @SkyIsForFlying
      @SkyIsForFlying 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bob King you're correct! Secret to losing weight is limiting sugar intake. Eating fat/oily food doesn't necessarily make you fat

    • @NinjaBallistic
      @NinjaBallistic 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, calories matter . But sugar gets readily stored as fat, while animal fat and oils tend to get stored less effectively, and don't spike the insulin.

    As ever more more and more of these wonderful encounters with people and food.

      It's not that she doesn't know the meaning of "Canada ppl", it's that the pronunciation of "Canadian" and "Canada" is quite different in English for Chinese ear such that the two words don't form a link in Chinese comprehension.

      In Chinese, Canada=加拿大, Canadian=加拿大人,ppl automatically know 加拿大人 if one knows 加拿大,but from English, you talk "KANnada" and "KanNEYding", Chinese ppl will find very little similarity btw the two pronunciations and the stresses.

    Watching this has made me miss my son even more than usual. He is living in China, and has been since 2013. His dad is Vietnamese and I'm UK born & bred. Before going to China, he lived in Japan (Beppu) for a year as part of his honours degree. He too speaks fluent Mandarin plus Japanese. and we get to talk on Skype and WeChat as often as we can ( due to the time difference). I really enjoyed watching your videos and you speak Chinese very well!!! Enjoy your travels and eat well. Above al

      +Theo Tran Hi there! Unfortunately his father and I split up a long time ago, so he & his elder brother did not get to learn how to speak Vietnamese. But when he was in University in Japan a lot of Vietnamese students were studying there too and he learnt quite a bit of Vietnamese from them, enough to hold a conversation with them. Although they all were meant to Speak Japanese at university, they mostly spoke English and they liked him to speak English so that they could get more fluent in it, lol. I hope that makes sense to you. Have a good day 😄😄😄😄

      Well I think it's probably the camera that caught the interest, these people probably thought he was some kind of a reporter doing a show or something, and he is a foreigner,so that helps too. But I don't think foreigners are rare in our country anymore, I've got three English teachers in middle school and college that are foreigners, one from Australia,one from USA,and one from someplace I don't remember. In college, I had so many public classes with professors coming all around the world. It's really not a big deal to have some foreigners in my eyesight. So yeah....

    In Chinese ,there is a word 中庸,which means “middle of the road”,english is hard to translate this deep and old concept. which means at least it works, we can adjust ,not just we need everyone to vote for the president ..I think communist is just a regime for now ,it still works as the ancient china ,as same as some of east countries .
    Actually the fast speed of development came from the same regime in Korea and HK and Taiwan, now they began to collapse because of democracy, but Singapore ,still booming ..
    China is more like a 400 times of Singapore .
