- With the newest version of iOS dropping, a lot of people have unfortunately been experiencing software bugs and issues throughout iOS. Now a lot of times these bugs can be caused by a bad install or just a bad backup.
The best way to make sure you have the best experience on iOS is perform a clean reinstall of it when you are experiencing repeated software bugs and issues. In this video I’ll show you just how to do that and how simple it is to make your phone feel so much smoother.

I’m not sure if this is the right video I’m looking for, but I’ve ran into an issue with my iPhone 8. I’m not sure why but every time it gets updated, my cellular data doesn’t want to work. I tried reinstalling the software update via iTunes but it wouldn’t let me download it from my iPhone because it said I wasn’t connected to WiFi whenever I was. I ended up factory resetting it completely to see if it would work, but it wouldn’t even let me finish setting the iPhone up because it’s not updated. I was wondering if you would be able to help me with this issue, I’m not sure what’s going on or how to fix my phone.

THIS IS SO HELPFUL I CANT EVEN BEGIN TO THANK YOU!!! I have been talking to apple and trying to restore my phone because of a cellular update failure and for some reason it completely messed up my phone to where it was factory reset but as soon as i passed the wifi stage the only prompt was to shutdown the phone because an update was necessary but itunes couldnt update it successfully. THIS FIXED WHAT IVE BEEN WORKING ON FOR DAYS IN LESS THAN AN HOUR. 1 year later this is still helpful im dying right now because apple quoted me $430 to fix my phone omg im so thankful.
I'm so glad it helped out! It's such a simple fix and instead of trying this sometimes Apple and other repair shops will just try completely random stuff. I always try out a software restore once and then go back to problem solving if it doesn't work! It hardly takes anytime and ends up working a surprisingly high number of times!

Yup, follow these steps and you'll be able to get a normal version of iOS back.
Will this clean the existing software when we do it from dfu mode or will it overwrite the existing software?
It will rewrite the software in both DFU and Restore Mode. It honestly doesn't matter which one you use, you're results will be similar.

It will update to the newest possible software if you use a computer. If you reset directly from your phone it stays on the same version.

Theres a problem with the IPSW file, because I got parallels for windows 11, and iTunes is installed, any IPSW file installed will take it as a iTunes package
would you say it's better to overwrite the IPSW OS in recovery mode OR do a full restore in DFU mode and then restore all the content from a local backup? I'm wondering if restoring from backup would bring back all the sluggish behaviours from the corrupted OS and defeat the purpose of doing the clean OS install :/

hello sir my iphone 6 touch doesn't respond, and sometimes it responded but it wont take long then it will go ghost touching then the touch won't respond again.
Sounds like it maybe a hardware issue. iPhone 6's were prone to something called touch disease which might be whats wrong with your phone. Sadly I don't think a software reset won't fix it.
Just wanted to also note that my iphone XS Max wouldn't go into DFU mode unless I used a lightning cable to USB; the newer lightning to C port cable does not work - apple blocks you from putting it into DFU mode unless you use the "correct" older cable that corresponds with the phone. Once I use the USB cable with an adapter to my macbook it was doable. All other advice on this video was great though - thanks for your help!

Is there a icloud id still linked to the hone if you do thos installation?
Yes, iCloud will always be linked. The phone will reset and will allow you to start the setup process, however it will immediately ask you to enter the password of the iCloud account to continue the setup and will stay stuck on that screen until you enter the password.
whats the difference in recovery and dfu mode?
my software is bugged my phone shows 50% battery health it drains very quickly but runs on 1% very long battery life is same.plz help
More or less the same. Recovery mode allows you to update if you're not up to date. DFU mode just gives you the option to restore.
I'd say just do DFU mode, but honestly both will give you the same exact result.

There's no issue! You can absolutely use the same method! Just remember you will lose all your data, so be sure to backup or save everything you need before doing this!

Hey! , my iPad Pro 10.2 inch is not that old, I bought it new but here are the problems :
- it’s touch screen hasn’t been cracked and it’s in perfect shape but my iPads touch doesn’t respond very fast hence making it so annoying when I play games.
- my battery drains quick in games , even In safari?!
- it keeps on boot looping and I always have to force reboot it to open it. (This is quite severe now)

Damn, that seems to be a much bigger issue than software. My guess is that you may have a hardware problem. Boot looping constantly is not usually something that can be fixed with a software update. Is your iPad still under warranty? I really think this is something that may have to be looked at deeper to find the problem.
I tried what you said with windows 8 computer. iTunes gave me error saying I need to upgrade to latest version of iTunes to restore the phone. I can't upgrade to latest version of iTunes since I am using windows 8.

First thing is to uninstall iTunes and install a fresh version from Apple's website. After that just follow the same steps again and let me know how it goes!

As far as I know you can't go back to older versions of betas once you've updated.

Yup, most likely will lose all your data. Once you're stuck in a boot loop it's usually hard to recover the data.

Nope, there is nothing you can do to remove the activation code. Either you need the password or you have to prove to Apple that you are the owner of this device by providing a receipt.
I put my iPhone XR into DFU mode (update button greyed out), and try to restore to the latest iOS (iPhone11,8,iPhone12,1_14.6_18F72_Restore.ipsw), it won't work with error message "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4013)". I try again to downgrade to iPhone11,8,iPhone12,1_14.0_18A373_Restore, it still won't restored either, but with different error code (3194). I try to restore them in both iMac and Windows 10, none of them work. What can I do? Thanks
Two possible issues causing the 4013 error are a bad cable or out of date iTunes. Make sure the computer you're using is up to date and there are no updates for iTunes in particular.
You aren't allowed to downgrade softwares which is why you got the 3194 error. I recommend redownloading the latest version of iOS and retry the install with a different cable.
@@Auto-Technica I went to Apple store and used their computer and cable to restore, same error (4013). The technician didn't even know how to enter DFU mode, I taught him how to enter DFU. Under DFU mode we still can't restore. Without even looking at the error code, the technician said it is bad hardware. I show them what google says about error 4013, they said it is google, not apple. He asked me to pay for exchange.They found all kind of excuses, saying my charging port is not smooth because I didn't use original Apple charging cable. I did automatic update before going to bed, then in the morning the phone was stuck in recovery mode and can't even restore, or downgrade, etc. In addition, update was done through WIFI, what it gets to do with charging port? My phone had been working perfectly until this update.

Sadly nope, once Apple stops signing a firmware it’s very difficult to go back and requires you to have saved shsh blobs. It’s a crazy process even if you have all the right things in line.

@@HotBoii91 I mean it's nothing new. Apple has never allowed downgrades once you've updated. It sucks but at this point I'm used to it. I would be more upset if the newer versions performed worse but in my experience that has never been the case.

That is a very weird issue. There can be a lot of reasons for this. I think a bit of troubleshooting will be the best way to go. First things first, have you restarted your phone? If that didn't work have you tried restoring network settings?
This could be a software issue, a hardware issue, or an issue with your carrier.
If it's possible, try swapping another SIM card that you know is working into your phone and see if it catches any signal. That's a quick way to tell if you have a network related issue or phone issue.

Have you tried removing the SIM card, restarting your phone, and reinserting your SIM card? Sometimes it's just a fluke. If that doesn't work we need to figure out of it the phone isn't working or your SIM card isn't.

OTA stands for Over-The-Air Updates. These are the updates that are being pushed to your phone directly from the settings app. You don't need a computer to install these updates.
Even though the software for iOS 9 is available does not mean you can downgrade to it. That process is mostly not possible unless you have something known as the SHSH blobs from that software already saved somewhere and you then trick Apple servers into letting the update go through. Trust me I've been through this process many times and it's absolutely frustrating and only works like 1/20 times. Downgrading to older versions is not possible for most devices.

@@nazminn4975 Sounds like a hardware issue to me. Software usually will not knock out so many things at once. The cameras/FaceID system are closely linked, so a hardware failure could cause the entire system to go haywire and disable like it is for you.

Yes, if the underlying issue is software related this process will fix boot looping. If it doesn't that could point to a more serious hardware issue.
I updated my SIM card. Got no service. T mobile sent a second new SIM card, still no service after installing second card. Now, I also noticed the settings-cellular screen is totally blank. Do you think reinstalling iOS will help?

It can't hurt, but I have not heard of this issue before so I can't say with certainty if this will solve your problem or not. It's worth a shot in my opinion though!

I had an old iPhone I must have accidentally hit the home button while turning it on, and it seems to have broken the OS(or possibly wiped the OS from the phone, well that's according to Apple's GREEDY customer service...who then literally told me I'd just have to buy a new phone because they couldn't(WOULDN'T) help me since the phone and OS was like 4+ years old...SMFH!!).
So my question to you is, I was wondering if you knew of a way to recover the photos from the phone without reinstalling the OS(which I guess would wipe the whole phone clean including photos!), or if there was a way to reinstall the iOS and still have all the old data/photos on the phone? Thanks for any info you might have!
Damn! Sorry about your experience with the Apple customer service. In my experience they are generally very helpful, but yeah whenever there is a major issue they don't really offer any useful solutions other than buy a new phone.
Can you explain what exactly is going on with your phone? Which phone is it? Does the display turn on at all? Are there any signs of life? When you connect it to a computer does it get recognized by the computer?

my phone touch screen stopped working after unexpected restart. i tried all restore modes and etc... now i tried this , to install fresh version of ios to get rid of lock screen by owner (me) as touch stopped working cant get further, how ever i enter DFU mode installed ipsw latest version and expected that phone will be wiped completely and will allow to set it as new. but unfortunately its still locked by owner and touch screen still does not work. :/ any suggestions?

Download 14.8 from ipsw.me and install it following the steps I showed in this video. Be quick because Apple will stop approving iOS 14 restores at any moment in the next day or few days.

Nope! That is linked to your Apple Account. You've just got to log in and the music will be back. You'll just have to download the music again if you save it locally.

Same thing one can do on itunes as well by clicking a single time. Why waste time with all this?
iTunes will download the restore file which I have found to be a bit slow sometimes. Additionally, if you have a spotty internet connection iTunes often times just fails at the download and will force you to start the download from the beginning again. it makes sense to download the file and have it ready instead of waiting on iTunes to download it.
