Working in the fire safety industry, I'm really glad Hy-Conn actually got to market, it's dominated pretty heavily by the major producers so it's good to see them get floor space at FDIC with their own booth
Wait a sec. Guy Negre was behind the Airpod car thingy?? He is (or rather was, passed away a few years ago) infamous in the motorsport world for coming up with extremely overambitious engine projects, making a few prototypes which failed spectacularly as they were nowhere near the proposed specs and then going away for a bit before resurfacing with a similarly harebrained idea a few years later. He promised things such as having higher revs in a better band with the same horsepower as Honda or Ferrari using a W12 engine layout... the only use the engine ever saw was in a Le Mans prototype which was described as "unbelievably slow on the rare occasion it managed to leave the pits".

It doesn't really sound like Rugged Maniac was a flop. They were a successful business for years afterward, Mark got a major return on his investment, and they never had any controversies.
I had never heard of wine in a can until I saw this. (I am a South African who lives in Japan😊). I consider myself somewhat of a wine connoisseur and I would NEVER drink wine from a sealed plastic container or a can!😖
The wine thing was strange. As wealthy individuals, they must have know that wine from a plastic cup appeals to neither wine drinkers nor to sports fans.
The air pod car is a terrible idea. The vast majority of energy input is turned into useless heat when compressing air. Perhaps way down the road when fusion is king or whatever it wouldn't matter, but right now while we're still rolling coal and other fossil fuels, getting like a 10-15% return on energy input out of the gate just to "refuel" is atrocious.
When Kevin O’Leary does his hands in a steeple position and taps the tips of his fingers together, he thinks he’s got a winner. Every. Time. Greedy mofo.
I love the idea of the AIR car, bit its really stupid to have one door opens from the front… The amount of head-on collisions… that would spell out a disaster
So much of your content reminds me of the Game Show Network series 'Anything To Win' that ran back in 2006. Was depressed when it was cancelled, now 18 years later its good times again!
I feel bad Jeff had to spend another 10 years to get his product out there. That air car was a little selfish. You need to test a prototype, even destroy it to prove vital factors. I can't believe you can dupe the sharks and not get taken to court for it. Can't investors do that if you can prove the money was blown in non business expenses? That last one was basically that they saw the green and let companies take them for a ride.
What's even crazier, for me at least, about the Rugged Maniac thing from Boston is that my now ex girlfriend in college was the ex fiance to one of the dudes that helped create the Spartan Races around Boston. The DiStefano guy. He's the director of sports or something. Cheated on her while traveling in Europe with a coworker. She was and probably still is an amazing woman. Real great dude...
@@tonypepperoni3679 we broke up in college because we were going to different schools. We were too young for the love we had. That relationship was way after. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

some of these ideas, like Hy-con are really good. I would consider hy-con completely game changing for homeowners to bigger compagnies. I think licensing the idea is the way to go rather than wanting to control the manufacturing and distribution. The "idea" was what was great. I hope he end up making money though. Also 16:41 😻

it's funny though, cause Copa di Vino, the other single serve wine company that appeared twice on shark tank and didn't get a deal either time that was mentioned in the video, is still in business, and the founder sold it to a beverage company for like $6 million in 2020, while the one that got a deal failed.
Robert is infamous for not responding to the people that he invests in on shark tank. I can't remember who it was but there was another inventor that said it took months to try to contact Robert's team.
HY-CONN: On the show, it was only 8 seconds faster than a traditional hydrant hook-up. Considering the huge costs involved in switching over to the new product, there is no way that most fire departments could afford to switch over. Especially for only 8 seconds.
I seriously don't understand how someone can basically just create a portable sealed single serve wine glass and receive $2.5 million..? Like where the f*ck does the high "value" come from?

The fact it’s being manufactured in the US is an even bigger boon. Need to get more jobs out there.
