We're all familiar with Lance Armstrong and Ben Johnson -- they're some of the most famous cheaters in sporting history. When there's prize money and glory involved, some competitors will try to win by any means necessary. Here are some lesser known stories about some of the weirdest and wackiest sports scandals.

WE GOT WEIGHTS IN FISH!

I was dying from laughing..🤣
@@BlueBARv5apparently it was a huge meme in that community, I found a bunch of stupid funny memes just looking for the original clip

@@HandlesAreStupid11 Man I remember this meme back when it happened! The delivery is so weird that it spread further than just fishing lol
Today I Learned: Cheat in world-class professional sports: get temporarily banned from that sport. Cheat at fishing in Texas: 5 years in prison.
Illegally transporting the fish not because of cheating. And that's only on one person while the rest got fines and bans as usual
I've looked it up on many news site, so it's not about the cheating but the illegal fish AND it's also on 90s, it's really old news
Feel bad for the coach with the sprint-swapped sisters. He literally pulled out of the competition because he knew it was wrong. The only thing that he could have done more would be to toss them to the sharks, which if he did, would get him kicked out of coaching. Dude was screwed both ways
Nothing to say for the men who did the same thing? Telling

Love the observant reporter. He’s so good at his job he realized she was missing a tiny mole on her face. Curses, foiled again!
@@JamietheroadrunnerI was baffled they did not cover the mole. You would assume their family and friends would use that exact mole to tell which twin is which. I bet even Couch noticed because of this.
"Baggate rocked the cornhole community" is a phrase we don't hear every day.
"They're cheating!"
"Well, so are you!"
Lol it’s actually even funnier reading it
I'm speechless to find out that the worst of the bunch are literally competitive fishers. Those two absolutely suck
I used to live in texas and people would tell stories of people stuffing fish with rocks/weights/other fish all the time. I feel like it might not actually be that uncommon
@@ttm9227I know nothing about this, but the way the judge yelled “We got weights in fish!” sounded… normal? Formulaic? Like “weights in fish” is the common term for it in the fishing world and he just called it out to let everyone know. No idea if that’s true, just my observation from watching that clip a lot when it went viral. Either way, glad they sent a message with the repercussions for these two
Crowd response ever gets old 😂
I live in Cleveland, where it happened. These clowns have been on the news a lot for their antics
Failing a polygraph test?
I dunno that's not very convincing to me.
@@cpt_nordbart Did you not watch the listing of their crimes? The polygraph test was weak but then they went on a spree of crimes.
🤣 the slow Mo of him stuffing the tape down his pants 🤣🤣
Cheating in e-sports are even more weirder. Some of the players tried to conceal their cheating software by renaming it to apps like Word.exe or Netflix.exe. A British cycling e-sports champion got his title stripped after he confessed to use bots to grind his way to get the best bike on the game. A Formula E driver got disqualified from a charity sim racing event after it was discovered that he wasn't driving the car at the race. Instead, he hired a pro sim racer and he got only caught after other drivers noticed a significant performance improvement from his previous races.
Meanwhile, most channels covering e-sports cheating always focus on aimbots. It's very formulaic.
word.exe
The formulae E driver got fired as well…,imagine you lose your career because you were scared of losing a charity event😅
@@solstice2149tbh he raced for his family's team if anything it's just a PR move
The match fixing is doing more damaging to the sport than any cheating in some open qualifier. Look at all the reporting Richard Lewis has done over the years. No one wants to talk about that cause it doesn't get the clicks or all the betting sites shut it down.
"Chess has quite a chequered past" Ok, you win
🤣🤣
yeah nice one... Mate
I was getting ready to defend the guys who had to take a polygraph, because those are notoriously unreliable, but then they ended up being some of the worst ones😂 You still shouldn't use polygraphs as evidence though.
im not a fan of youtubers talking about polygraphs as if they are legitamate, this happens the most with true crime youtubers but its still bad when others do it
Unfortunately someone convinced the tournament fishing community in the States that polygraphs were a good way to "detect" cheaters, so a lot of the big prize money competitions make the top placed competitors take one. Ironically, the pair had been cheating in competitions for years _and_ "passing" the polygraphs to claim the winnings... that was the only time one of them "failed." Nothing like having a pair of chronic cheaters & all-round douchebags demonstrate how ineffective a polygraph is!
@@BlisaBLisahe brings it up because the polygraph got them banned for a bit by the federation. Which is odd. I don't think they even allow polygraphs in court cases anymore, so I don't know why they would ban someone over a 51% success rate.
@@lilyelena56 my problem was with him saying that the polygraph proved they were innocent, if he just said the polygraph was what got them banned that would be fine. i really like how in matt orchards vids (true crime) whenever he has to bring up polygraph results to discuss a case he prefaces it by saying that it isnt indicative of whether the person is lying or not and the polygraph doesnt work. obv i dont expect this from everyone (though it would be nice for true crime youtubers to do...) i just dont think ppl should talk about polygraphs as if they are legitimate, its not common knowlege unfortunately.
yeah they dont allow polygraph results in court cases (im not sure if they ever did, at least in america) it was apparently a lot more common in the past for polygraph tests to be used in regular settings like using them on retail shop employees, its really weird. i really think they just shouldnt be allowed in interrogations anymore, theres been too many instances where a guilty person passes and investigators stop looking at them as a suspect, or an innocent person fails and the investigators focus on them as a suspect and neglect everything else (or worse, harass the innocent person into a confession). i mean i dont think police interrogations should be a thing at all but thats unlikely to happen anytime soon
Polygraphs aren't just unreliable, they're complete and total junk. They're not intended for use as evidence and their use in interrogations is almost never done with that intent. Using a polygraph is just a sweat tactic to hook a suspect up to some weird machine and make them watch the lines jump around when they answer questions. Of course, you can't exactly say that when you're putting it to use.
The dude putting his hand where the fish should be must have alot of undeserved confidence to think that he would get away with that
16:02 I yelled at the screen "OH COME ON"
I laughed when I saw the photo. 😂😂
I love how there is a guy called "Jason Fisher" busting dudes for cheating at fishing. He is THE Fisherman
That fisherman duo really went downhill

Thing about cheating is its never going to be as satisfying as achieveing something for real.
Unless you’re in politics
i think its mainly just seeing if you can get away with it

Holy, I’m Portuguese and am used to players faking soccer faults in the hope of getting a penalty but never heard of a player actually cutting himself to get a match stopped. That is insane.
The fishing story just kept getting worse and worse...like...bruh
Where I come from, cornhole has a different meaning. It means, um, "rear entry". So when I hear the term professional cornholer, well...
Describing the Niemann chess controversy as _"theories about vibrating sex toys hidden up his bum..."_ is so Aussie I can't stop chuckling! 🤣👍
And that cricket cheat is just an insult to everyone's intelligence, thinking no-one would notice. Ball tampering has a long history, and even back in the 80's & 90's players were getting caught by the handful of cameras filming matches... and they used _far_ more subtle tactics like pressing divots into the ball with their fingernails. How did these clowns think they'd explain away the DIY sandpaper in their pockets? 🤦♀
Niemann is one of those guys that you can just look at and tell he's a cheater. not that that is the evidence for it. the evidence is there and speaks for itself. but he does look like a cheater.
17:08 A fishing tournament director's name being Jason Fischer really giggled me.
how on earth did the cricketers think their plan would work 😂 trying to get away with tampering in such an inefficient way while on a field with 100 cameras and who knows how many spectators, players, staffers, and regulators on it
Cheating in chess sounds 100x easier than cheating in big boy fishing competitions. 🤣 Great video btw! Thanks for diving into multiple categories in the same video . ♥
OMG, he just stopped his horse in the fog and waited 🤣😂🤣. What a beauty! No wonder he was in last place, how could any horse carry balls that big? Simple. Brilliant.
21:43 "Chess has quite a checkered past"
I see what you did there, and I appreciate it
So the chess guy never got caught cheating but it is implied he did?
Nah, he had cheated in online games, but Nieman has been shown to be an incredible chess player, he probably cheated as a teen to boost his ELO faster. He's been on an over the board tear lately.
The issue with the Magnus game is that Magnus had only ever played that one route on the board once, and Magnus did not believe that Hans had studied that match. But honestly it's up in the air weather he had or not, it could have just been a very obscure game that Hans had actually coincidentally studied before, or he could have cheated. There is literally no evidence he cheated in any on the board games, or even his online games in the last few years.
fun fact: the 1989 Chile vs Brazil scandal is apochryphally linked the crash of Varig Flight 254, which happened on the same day at the same time. Varig 254 was scheduled to fly from the south of Brazil to the north, but ended up hundreds of miles westward instead. rumor has it that the pilots were listening to the Chilean cheating scandal unfolding *live on radio* as they were preparing the plane’s navigational system, so they failed to realize that the plane was pointing towards the setting sun for several hours. the pilots ended up flying out of all ATC coverage, becoming hopelessly lost, running out of fuel, and crashing into the amazon rainforest, killing 12 people
Danggg how you forgot about the mole on your TWIN sisters face lmaooo. I bet thats the main thing that tells them apart 😂. Love this channel btw!
When you know someone you get used to the flaws. Even a burn victim. Can live normally after being around awhile
Thank you for doing a proper story on the Rugby scandal. Most folks who do that story simply say the blood faking was to sub for that player. We all know that's pretty simple to do so why go to those lengths to get him out. I knew they full story before hand but many who don't can now get a true FULL version about bringing a previously removed player back in. THAT is much harder to do.
0:50 proud to say that I have watched all of the scandal videos and I owe it all to your top tier subject matter, calm voice, editing style.
bro kidnapped a fish 💀
So odd, that you can bring your own bean bags to the cornhole championship. At least have them weighted and checked for size, etc.?! Odd.
Also what happened to that chess guy now? Nobody could prove he cheated?
"Chess has quite a checkered past". Take your upvote and get the hell out.
"Baggate rocked the cornhole community." Never thought I'd hear that sentence.
The fog horse guy was actually pretty clever, and balsy.... that was good.
I love how there's more than just one scandal
I really enjoy videos that don’t focus on all the controversies already in a million videos, these types of videos are entertaining.
Another great video. These aren’t exactly earth-shattering topics you cover but somehow you produce them in a way that keeps me invested in the whole story (and with hyperbole or histrionics).

I love the chess guy. " I cheated a bunch....just not the time your accusing me of cheating" 😂😂
It's the classic "the boy who cried WOLF". right?🤔
I mean. They had evidence of him cheating prior. But do they have evidence that time? I love speculating on stuff, but it sounds too far fetched
There is the possibility he doesn't understand chess like a grandmaster and ends up playing moves that don't really make sense to someone who knows what they're doing and throws them off their game super hard. It's not unbelievable to consider however that he just knows all the best possible moves in the game from every board position. People act like it would be incredibly hard to do this but if you spent 3 years doing nothing but memorizing board positions and the optimal moves instead of learning techniques you could play like a computer without needing even a basic understanding of the game. And if you can open the game you can severely limit the possible outcomes you need to memorize
As an Australian, Sandpapergate is still the funnyest thing to happen to cricket, aside from The Underarm lmao
Underarm bowling was permitted at the time but just against the spirit of the game.
Tampering with a ball however….
@@paulorockyThe way underarm bowling has been treated since the Great War is a shame. It’s part of cricket history, the first inter-colonial game in Australia was won thanks to underarm bowling. I think underarm bowling needs to make a comeback and be let back into the game.
The bans for the Harlequins scandal were global, and the team doctor was lucky not to be struck off by the General Medical Council, and somehow got off of a charge of bringing the profession into disrepute. Which is as serious as it sounds. Several doctors and nurses I know said it changed how they treat patients because of the antics of Dr. Chapman
Also the judge at the walleye tournament being named Fisher. TOo perfect, just....too perfect.
Why would putting a cut on a mans lip change how medical professionals treat their patients? That makes no sense
@@mychannel-rt2gnBecause it destroys a doctor’s credibility and professionalism. A doctor that is willing to harm a patient just to get out of trouble or because they’re panicking is extremely unacceptable and brings into question the ethics of the profession. And the fact that this doctor wasn’t even stripped of their license, merely given a suspension, only adds salt to the wound. So of course, people everywhere would be wary. If doctors can do whatever they want and face minimum consequences, why trust them?

13:06 the 1988 Summer Olympics were in Seoul, the 1968 Summer Olympics were in Mexico City
In the cricketing one, the young player Bancroft was really thrown under the bus, he was the newest player in the team and in the years since has never played for Aust again, even though having excelled at lower levels that should warrant selection. He said in subsequent interviews that the bowling group were in on the cheat as well, but got away scott free, the other two players served their time and came right back into the team.
Magnes carlson just leaving during the rematch is the biggest smallest singular person boycott ive seen in a while.

NEVER agree to a polygraph, guilty or innocent.
These videos are super interesting, would love to see more
Winning with Magnus is itself a proof of cheating
I have a lot of beef with fencers, and now added to the list of reasons is the fact that none of them ever told me the HILARIOUS fact that someone not only tried to pretend to be their teammates by just not taking their helmet off at a competition, but that it WORKED
Jason Fisher, great name for the judge of a fishing competition!
nice video..very informative, I had seen a reel of the exposed fishing cheaters..with no context, no anything, nothing in the comments about it at all, and you pretty much covered the entire thing and then some, I mean I saw I first saw it..there probably wasn't any information about it to give, but they could have at least said who it was..where..etc..
Great video idea, that was really interesting

PHub offered Neimann 1M for him to play naked. Neimann refused.
Also he said his latest cheating spree was when he was 16, but it was later shown to not be true, as he was doing it when he was 17 as well
I mean, I don't know that I would take that deal either. Dude definitely cheated at some point, I'm not defending that, but balls out to the world is not how I would play an important tournament

If you ask me, I think Magnus is just a sore loser. I love drama but if there’s no evidence Hans cheated, then that’s that, right? “He wasn’t focusing critically on the game and seemed too relaxed,” ah so he has to make faces of consternation while he plays or else he’s cheating! Of course!
He did act childishly
3:05--I never thought I'd see a headline like this, lol!
No, Ruiz cheated the NYC Marathon in 1979 by taking the subway. She cheated in Boston by jumping on the course a half mile from the finish. In baseball scuffing the ball like that is called an emory pitch because a common device used was an emory board.
You forgot to mention that steve smith was literally jesus at the time and everybody looked up to him. I still cant look at him the same.
that thumbnail is wild 😂
"BagGate rocked the cornhole community"... Words I never thought I'd hear 😂
you gotta love how blatant they went with the weights in the fish stacking 8lbs or 4kg to a fish is a crazy high amount to try slip by when they could of just done 1-2 pounds and probably got away with it but its surprising they got away with it for so long youd think judges would know by comparing or even just looking huh whys this one that is the same size as this one DOUBLE the weight.
It takes a major lack of braincells to think in the age of hi definition cameras with more lenses and options you could cheat and not expect atleast one of them to pick it up.
The guy's name is "Jason Fisher". He definitely knows a thing or two about Fish
Bro. The 1988 Summer Olympics were held in Seoul, South Korea.
I thought the “weights in fish” guy was about to just try and punch the cheater
Those 2 fishermen with fish pallets/weights…😂
Thank you. But, no, I’ll not be taking you up on your….chess-watching offer.
I used to pitch in baseball and am somewhat familiar with cricket but I can't figure out how scuffing the ball in cricket would be useful. In baseball, where the pitch remains in the air, scuffs can be very useful in exaggerating the break of a pitch. With Cricket however, the ball is bounced off the ground and simply wouldn't receive anywhere near enough of an effect to really matter. In fact, about the only thing I could think of would be on a hit. A scuffed cricket ball when hit in the air would likely have a slightly erratic flight making it more difficult to catch. A long distance throw back in could also gain some erratic movement. The problem is, both of those would seem to benefit the opponent more than the cheating team. Maybe I'm just missing something...
I can't believe somebody actually tried to pull a Parent Trap in the Olympics.
I was today years old when I learned there was a thing called professional corn holer….
It's a disgrace what those lowlife clowns did to Lehmann, he looked shattered.
