Dude with the hair flip is Jeff Daniels. One of his claims to fame is he taught Michael Jackson how to do the backslide (Moonwalk). He and Jodie Watley (female member) started their careers as Soul Train dancers.
Night To Remember, and Make That Move are two more of their hits you will love. Also, even more than those, you will love Jody Watley’s solo hit Friends.
It was a big crossover hit...not just R&B radio, but top 40 stations carried it, and the video was in heavy rotation. Thanks to Jesse Johnson's bomb-ass guitar solo my local rock station even played it a few times!

Check out her hits: Friends, Everything, Don’t You Want Me, and Real Love! Fun fact: She and Jeffrey Daniels danced on Soul Train before they joined Shalamar!

Jesse Johnson, who is the guitarist in Morris Day's band The Time, plays on "Dead Giveaway". Jesse also has his own solo records with songs like "Free World", "Be Your Man", "Can You Help Me", and a duet with Sly Stone called "Crazay". Jeffrey Daniel from Shalamar danced in Michael Jackson's "Bad" music video & Paul McCartney's 1984 movie "Give My Regards To Broad Street". Shalamar had several different lineups, but this is the most popular one with Howard Hewett, Jody Watley, & Jeffrey Daniel. Jody & Jeffrey started out as dancers on Soul Train in the 1970s, so did jazz/R&B artist Patrice Rushen. The first Shalamar hit is called "Uptown Festival". At that time, they were not a real group, the debut album was session singers. But Jeffrey Daniel, Jody Watley, & Gary Mumford were on the album cover. Gary actually sang on the album, but the other 2 didn't. Gary left to become a preacher, and was replaced by Gerald Brown. Gerald, Jody, & Jeffrey sang on the 2nd album. The next time you revisit Shalamar, you must do their hit "Make That Move", the 1981 Rhythm and Blues Awards performance. Their dance performance is fire and the song simply slaps. The Shalamar discography is full of great hits and they are from the same recording label as The Whispers, Midnight Star Klymaxx and Lakeside.

Wow, whenever I listen to Shalamar, a flood of memories comes rushing back into my mind, so many good times..
Shalamar , Howard Hewitt, Jeffrey Daniels, and Jody Watley, all great artists in their own right in solo careers.
This was fun and groovy. I suggest Eurythmics--Julia (1984).
Games By Shalamar, when members were replaced, Micki Free lead vocals in this song, he's a great guitarist as well. He was also friends with Prince, who wanted him to be one of his proteges.
One of my favourites from the 1980's. Heard it on the radio and went straight out to buy it.
Howard hewitts voice like silk.
try dancing in the sheets from movie foot loose 1984
I've been begging for some Jody Watley so I'm ok with you two throwing me a bone with Shalamar - even though Jody's barely in the video. Show Jody Watley some love!
