Shout out to Steve Stevens. He’s been Billy’s guitarist from day one and his riffs helped make Billy what he is today. One of the most criminally underrated guitarists out there.
🇬🇧 This song is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Nobody screams like Billy Idol. "White Wedding" "Mony Mony" "Hot In The City" "Dancing With Myself" are BANGERS too. And for a whole different side to Billy "Eyes Without A Face"❤👌🎶🎼
Aquanet, to be exact. You had to chisel the overspray off the bathroom wall. Lol. I was thinking of how careful I had to be slow-dancing with someone with my big-hair. It was sprayed so hard it could have poked an eye out! 😂
Final Net was better. It was non-aerosol so no "clouds" of hairspray to inhale. ;-) I loved the '80s. One word to describe the decade is "fun." Fun hair styles, fun fashion, fun music, fun clubs, fun "party favors", just plain FUN! Best decade ever!
@Jedi_Mistress I'm not familiar with that hairspray, but it was probably. concrete in a can like most were. I mean, come on, that hair didn't stay 6+ inches in the air by itself! Lol. And I 100% agree about the 80s! The big hair, big shoulder pads, high heels and frilly ankle socks, straight lines of blush, neon colors, high tops with two or three colorful sets of shoe strings, Madonna, Heart, Billy Idol, Wham!, Foreigner, Miami Vice, Dallas, my Firebird with the obligatory t-top ... I did love the 80s so very much. I think a lot of older people look at younger people and wish they were that age, but I don't. I'm glad I was young when I was - we had the perfect situation of growing up with no technology but a TV and a Beta VCR (or VHS, depending on where you fell in the demographic. The last of the feral kids. Yet when tech hit the scene, we were in a perfect position to learn it from the ground up. If you remember the sound of the AOL dial-up, let's take a moment to appreciate wi-fi! Lolol. Yep, the 80s were the best! 💜🩵💚💛🤎🩷
and when I went to his concert in 1985 at the Whiskey-Go-Go in L.A. My friends and I were just like this crowd in the video. Yelling and Screaming and Dancing and punching. We WENT WILD!!! lol....Billy Idol really made Punk and Rock relevant and relatable!!!
I saw Billy Idol (Steve Steven is still his guitar player) a couple of years ago and even in his 60s, he still rocked harder than anyone else. His voice, his energy, his charisma, his personality, his sex appeal - all still there. Billy Idol is an icon!
Billy Idol - guitar, vocals Steve Stevens - lead guitar, bass guitar, guitar synthesizer, synthesizer, keyboards Steve Webster - bass guitar Judi Dozier - keyboards Thommy Price - drums Sal Cuevas - bass guitar on "Eyes Without a Face" Jack Waldman - additional keyboards Gregg Gerson - drums on "(Do Not) Stand in the Shadows", "Rebel Yell" (Session Take), "Motorbikin'" (Session Take) and "Flesh for Fantasy" (Session Take) Mars Williams - saxophone on "Catch My Fall" Perri Lister - backing vocals on "Eyes Without a Face" Phil Feit - bass guitar on "Rebel Yell" (Session Take), "Motorbikin'" (Session Take), and "Flesh for Fantasy" (Session Take) Keith Forsey - drum programming
It's a banger!!..Billy Idol still rocking today...the 80s were something else. The music was fantastic. So many different artists and looks. Lucky to grow up then.
Yeah Billy's charisma is off the charts - and he's a great singer, really great! Elvis is one of his big influences, and I think he carries it well. This song is SO HARD to resist, it like taps into your lizard brain or something! 😆Thanks, Sal - and thanks to Regina, too. What a delight!!
Billy Idol is pop rock with elements of punk rock, the main thing I like about his music is the wonderful musical arrangements and transitions. He was able to combine what no one had in the early 80s when the new wave and pop music just started to develop.
I can't believe you've never seen Billy Idol before, but better late than never I guess LOL. Yeah, he had charisma and energy, and a powerful delivery. Other tracks to check out: "White Wedding" (1982), "Flesh for Fantasy" (1984), "To be a Lover" (1986), "Mony Mony" (1987) and "Dancing With Myself" (originally recorded by his band Gen X in 1980).
Follwed Billy since Generation X days. Great group, exceptional singer with Billy and lead guitarist Steve Stevens [who even played with Michael Jackson on 'Dirty Diana'.
I remember watching this premier on MTV. One look, I was hooked and then the guitar kicked in and I was sold. Flesh for Fantasy is my favorite Billy song, think you'd like it too.
Love, love Billy Idol! Punk rock in the 80s and early 90s, yes! You need to listen to some of his other hits. Eyes Without a Face, White Wedding, Dancing With Myself…
Great memories of this spectacular song of a time when life was easy and free in Australia, no responsibilities, partying every weekend and getting into mischief. Was a very happy time in my life. Who doesn’t love Billy? And Steve!!
I have Generation X albums on vinyl and original Billy Idol vinyl albums with original art before they were released with new cover art. LOVE Billy Idol!!!!!!
Oh yeah, so many headbanging weekends, jammin out to this while cruisin' the strip in my 72 Barracuda!! 🔥🤘😎🔥 Billy has some serious rockin tunes, gotta do more!
Love me a bit of Billy Idol… these were absolutely cracking songs and a welcome break from the formulaic synth pop… Absolutely got played loud. And if you’re not yelling This out in the car, banging the steering wheel then u ain’t doing it right! ;-) Rock on…
Steve Steven’s on guitar is one of the unsung unnamed amazing guitarists to see him live is magic he arguably changed the game with his sound work he gets from his solos
Back in the 1980s, pop culture featured a fair number of bad boys, but Billy Idol was the baddest of them all. He was awesome! Steve Stevens, the lead guitarist, is a vastly underrated musician. Not only has he been with Billy from day one, he has done many other things. One of his most enduring musical contributions was playing on the original Top Gun soundtrack for all of the Harold Faltermeyer score. When you hear an electric guitar...it's Steve. As far as acting...the only acting credit I know of from Billy is his small role as Cat in Oliver Stone's The Doors, about the legendary 60s band. He was in a few scenes, but it's almost blink and you miss him.
He's still as charming/charismatic as ever. Billy is very talented but the guitarist Steve Stevens is too. He also had a great stage presence even if a leather coat must be hilariously impractical under stage lights.
Such fun! You definitely need to check out White Wedding, Dancing With Myself, Mony Mony, Hot in the City, and Eyes Without a Face. All great songs and big hits!
When I was a teenager I sang along to this song on a radio without paying any attention to what the lyrics really mean 😀 I’ve realised only quite recently due to all these reaction channels which analyse songs , that I never really cared too much about the lyrics. And it’s not because English is my third language. I just loved how it sounds and that’s all. Great song!
Of all the subject matter to write a hit song about, Billy chose to write one about being unable to satisfy his lover! Always makes me chuckle to think of that.
He was Punk. Straight up. His production was always spot on. I always enjoyed his music. White Wedding next, with Eyes Without a Face after. A grand sampling of Billy Idol.
greetings and love from Cologne, Germany. For those who don´t know: The phrase "Rebel Yell" comes from the American Civil War. On the battlefield, shortly before the attack on the northern staates soldier (the Yankees or the Union Army), the Southern soldiers (the Rebels) let out a battle cry that was so loud that it went through the Yankees' and shatters their bones to the ground.. This terrifying cry went down in history in the Northern states as the "Rebel Yell". Have a peaceful day and stay safe...
Fun fact: Rumor has it that the overall look of James Marsters' character Spike, one of the vampires, in both "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and the spin-off series "Angel" was based on Billy Idol -- down to the Cockney accent. 😁😎👺
If you loved this one, then you will also love Billy Idol's "Dancing with myself"(with the music video, got to watch the video also), it's just as wild, his energy is wild!!
If you're not pumping your fist and screaming "More, more, more" there's something wrong with you.
Yes!!!!!!
Shout out to Steve Stevens. He’s been Billy’s guitarist from day one and his riffs helped make Billy what he is today.
One of the most criminally underrated guitarists out there.
100%
💯
ABSOLUTELY
Could not agree more! 🎸👍🏻
This song was an '80s anthem, right up there with "we're not gonna take it".
🇬🇧
This song is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Nobody screams like Billy Idol. "White Wedding" "Mony Mony" "Hot In The City" "Dancing With Myself" are BANGERS too. And for a whole different side to Billy "Eyes Without A Face"❤👌🎶🎼
"Flesh for Fantasy".
White Wedding is my favorite!! 🤘
The keyboard player's makeup is everything! #GenX 😎
Billy Idol was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January 6, 2023
This song was everywhere,i can't believe it didn't hit the Top 40. I always thought it was a #1
Because the 80s was loaded with great songs. So this banger didn't reach top 40
Such an energetic performance! Loved this in HS. White Wedding next Sal ❤
Billy was great playing himself in the film The Wedding Singer.
Yes and he still looked good.
Steve Stevens is soooo underrated, such a unique style. He played on Michael Jackson’s Dirty Diana. You hear his style
He's one of my favorite guitarists. I saw him solo in the 90s in Philly and he was awesome. I have all his solo cds and they are first rate.
Dirty Diana ! Still can’t believe it’s Michael Jackson. Steve Stevens is perfect for that song!
This one takes me back! Love me some Rebel Yell!! I kinda miss the hair back in the 80s. So Much HAIRSPRAY! 😉
Aquanet, to be exact. You had to chisel the overspray off the bathroom wall. Lol. I was thinking of how careful I had to be slow-dancing with someone with my big-hair. It was sprayed so hard it could have poked an eye out! 😂
@ yes Aquanet Extra Super Hold. My lungs are probably lined with it.🤣
@@Melly01 My mom used Aquanet, So did I (as a makeshift flamethrower, LOL).

Nothing to be intimidated by, Billy is a really nice man, inspite of his fierce stage persona

If you liked that one you should watch "Don't need a gun" my personal favorite from Billy Idol.
My favorite too!!!!
Cool choice!
Hi school memories (and it's been on my playlists forever).
He's still as charming/charismatic as ever. Billy is very talented but the guitarist Steve Stevens is too. He also had a great stage presence even if a leather coat must be hilariously impractical under stage lights.

Fun fact: Billy Idol was produced by Keith Forsey, who was the drummer on many Donna Summer records.
Saw him at a small club when he was just starting to pop, so was only a few feet from him all night. Dear god . . . 😊
Right on pure 🔥wow , you were the lucky one
He's still doing it
Stevie by his side
He was Punk. Straight up. His production was always spot on. I always enjoyed his music. White Wedding next, with Eyes Without a Face after. A grand sampling of Billy Idol.

"To Be A Lover" & "Sweet Sixteen" are other graet hits of his that often get overlooked.
Still good today!
You need to listen this live.
Billy Idol was driven. Driven everywhere.
Those were the days my friend!
Fun fact: Rumor has it that the overall look of James Marsters' character Spike, one of the vampires, in both "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and the spin-off series "Angel" was based on Billy Idol -- down to the Cockney accent. 😁😎👺
Hope to get to see you react to 'Flesh for Fantasy,' 'Eyes Without a Face' and 'White Wedding.'
White Wedding is a great next Billy Idol reaction.
Pls do “Eyes without a Face”. So many great songs by him
