I only needed the 1st 30 seconds of this video to solve my 07 pontiac g5 gt issue.. yesterday I changed all my mounts (engine/trans) but the trans mount located under the fusebox required removal of the whole fuse box of course..shortened story..put everything back together, car wouldn't start...this morning seen this clip and realized that I may have not pushed the fuses in all the way..did that...started right up haha (the part about the check engine not showing up when it's computer has issues, made it click in my head that was the problem) 🎉

I've gotten a brand new (LITERALLY NEVER USED) ECU that has also came programmed to the VIN. Yet still no CEL. Only the radio, and On Star is illuminating inside the cabin... went to O'Reilly's to get a new ignition switch thinking it would fix that issue, and we're also thinking the ignition lock cylinder/tumbler could be an issue. Yet my keys aren't getting stuck inside the tumbler itself. Not understanding why this happening when we have checked all grounds, fuses (Under the hood, to inside of the cabin). Not making any bit of sense why the Computer isn't communicating with the BCM.... brand new and still NO COMM. 5 volt REF are coming back to each sensor of the vehicle, and everything is also coming back to read 12V within the positive points of the fuse locations, and all ground points are doing it's job, so we're really stumped at this point in pinpointing what could be the issue.

So it is a issue with these cars starting up I see a lot of videos on FB about it I've went thru 4 alternators and 3 batteries in 1 & 1/2 years. Just paid $1,000 for a new cpu n all just to now find out these cars have a start up issue.

Thankss for this video. I have an appt at the chevy dealer today and am dreading having to pay for the issues it may have. But this sounds like exactly the same problem im having. Hopefully this eleviates the problem and it wont be much more than what you all paid for yours.

So why wouldn't you check the fuse first, before buying a new battery?

It probably took the dealer less than 5 minutes to reprogram the computor and they charged you $269???

Remember thats the ECM/TCM. Theres a panel to the right of the radio, that is the BCM. Always check your fuses there. One of the fuses in the BCM goes to the ECM.
Also if you do find a used ECM, you can avoid the flashing and programmed IF AND I MEAN IF the specific ECM matches a series of numbers with your VIN. Basically the dealership is using a really expensive ODB2 tool to write the VIN in the new ECM

True I had a no start issue and the guy working with me was told to CHeck the fuses and relays with a multimeter. He did twice. I trusted him. I had to check ignition and test starter and bcm signal and wirings with no prevail. Then I said let me start over. Come to find out it was a 2amp fuse in the interior.
I learned not to work or trust anyone .
The Locksmith doesnt know or dont have equipment or a good scanner. We usually pair bcm to new ECM to start car. Or write the old vin to the new ecm..

my car is doing the exact same thing and I am assuming this could be the issue! will let you know thank you! I hope it's not too expensive!

The most expensive part of this was the dealership programming it to my car.

How much was the part? My dad works on cars so if we can we are gonna program it! Does it come with a new key or does it have to be programed with the key you have? Thank you!

run a ground wire (I used a 10 gauge wire) from one of the holes on the TCM casing using a 1/4 inch nut and bolt...ground it to the ground area near firewall on driver's side near fuse box...it'll say ground, if that doesn't solve your issue, then it's time for a new ECM/TCM.

You need an automotive technician to check power and grounds in your dad's vehicle.

having issues with my car, no start, no click... tried swapping out the computer with one from a junk yard, still same problem. if I need to tow my car to a dealership to program the key... omg, that is absolutely not acceptable. I will bypass the fucking thing.
edit: finally found the problem with my car. bad ground on the front of the engine. 2 small wires broke off. one apparently goes to the fuse box for the starter relay

Was it a Cobalt? Year? The ground under the coolant reservoir or a different one?
      Any help is greatly appreciated.
