Thanks a lot man, I am a experienced auto mechanic and a medium skill diesel mechanic, my work car(2006 Colbalt) would stall intermittently, all wires were checking out, I got it to cut off in the yard and tested everything and looked at this and jumped the fuse and bam started working, fuse was not blown or anything
Type in Colbalt Tcm / pcm. There’s a simple fix cost a few dollars. The tcm needs to be grounded since GM never thought it should be. But the tcm has a predrilled hole u can put one side of wire grounded by a bolt that fits securely and run wire to a ground on car frame. This will stop doors from going crazy with the locks and steering fluid error and other errors that randomly pop up. It also stops the hard shifting that worries all of us thinking our transmission is going bad. But it fixes everything. Also it’s a good idea to make sure all grounds are clean and battery cables, fuses and relays. Hope this helps someone. Good luck
Cody im having the same issue but ive replaced all kinds of shit. I want to kniw if the wire u hooked up to is just a straight hot wire and what about the other 2 hot wires
Yeah, if you actually get a fault, your jumper will be the new "fuse", and is going to melt, glow, and burn anything it touches. Just replace the 10A fuse.
what is the wire connected to on the opposite side. i have a 2010 cobalt that was running fine no check engine lights or anything. i drove it to the store hopped out came back and it wouldn't do shit. interior lights and radio work but no start no crank and i dont hear the fuel pump priming whenni turn the key, i just get one click sound from the passenger side fuse box.. NEED SOME HELP BAD
Im having the same issues with mine. Im fine working with mechanical but not electrical. My code reader wont even read, just says error. Turn the key and nothing happens. But it will try to crank but wont turn over and run. I wish i could see more detail in this vid. 😩 some person who had the car before messed up the electrical system. Wires and electrical tape everywhere. Smh
Was the fuse still good? I have this same issue intermittently and have never found a fix for it. The dealership even replaced the bcm with a new one and still never fixed it. Any updates?
@@sinformant damn... I really can't afford to sell this car because of this... im currently chasing every single wire down the past 5 days for hours... giving me a huge headache
@@vulcane994 let me know if you find a solution. I have a pontiac g5 gt 2.4 (same thing as a cobalt) and am having this issue intermittently. i've had a mechanic scan it during and after the issue comes up, and he said the bcm is losing contact with basically everything, then it comes back. he's almost positive it's not the bcm, and most people have found that out by replacing it and having the issue come up again. i have an auto trans and it shifts hard while this is happening, but once it clears up and i restart the car, back to the normal buttery smooth.

where and what do you jump from?
All I know is that underneath the hood looks very good for a 2007 cobalt it's way cleaner than mine lol love the engine 😂

Did you ever figure it out having same issue
Is there a reason you didn't swap it for a known good 10 Amp Fuse instead of running a jumper wire to the leg you had drilled out???
