      I must be doing it wrong, when I started (FM21) I loved sorting the training and experimenting with it all. The thing I could never wrap my head around was signing/resigning players, I would just accept whatever they asked for wage wise and wondered why I didn’t have enough in my budget to resign my top players 🤦🏻‍♂️.

    It's great to hear this is the most optimal option. I have been playing like that since FM20 and it always had great results. However, if a player really wants to see those arrows going up, they really need to play with younger players. That's where the game is most fun, seeing your youngsters becoming great players. With similar training I have seen upwards to 47 points gained in all attributes in a year. I could barely believe my eyes.

    Train attacking set-pieces as early and for as long as possible in preseason, so that your team would have something to rely on for goals while they are still gaining tactical familiarity

    • @stevensmith2464
      @stevensmith2464 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    I've been doing 1 game for the first two weeks of preseason, and for weeks 3-5 (or however many there are) two games a week, with a full rotation (2 different teams) so everyone is sharp at the beginning of the season. I've been using the schedules that some creator made once, can't remember if it was RDF or Fox, I think for FM21, as a guide, just as a way to not start from scratch (like, already have match preview and review, recovery, etc., it saves time), and then editing them to fulfill my teams needs. Scheduling training is not only hard to get right on your own but also tedious, so anything that can help understand it better and save time is more than welcome! Thanks Z!

    Zaz is a well-known researcher of some of the very best tactics, he seems to be a very BIG fan of training Pace/Acceleration as these attributes are said to be the by far most important. Did this testing dwelve deeper into this issue?

      I second this.

    • @joshuajones3728
      @joshuajones3728 2 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Yeah they (FM-Arena / ZAZ) did a simulated league with all stats at 20 then reducing a specific stat.
      They found that making pace, accel, balance , dribbling worse had the biggest impact so concluded they must be the most important attributes for the match engine.
      Although this doesn’t account for tactical set up.
      In general it seems to be about right since pacey, dribbling, wingers , forwards, and attacking midfielders /CM’s seem to consistently put up the best match ratings.
      Also the best stats for wingbacks seems to be pace/accel and dribbling since going forward and also playing inverted to dribble into the middle are so effective in the ME

      Is there a point in physically training your semi pro players ? Wouldn't it be better throw in a physical training here and there while focusing entirely on match preparation so that they can be at their best during the match ? I mean, if I were part of my local side, being asked to train how to move while on the attack or how to stay in Defensive shape would be of more use instead of trying to to be stronger and faster than everybody else

    • @DarkLiamtoh

      @@vesuvianblack4884 That is my training in pre season as an amateur/semi pro AFTER having my team's cohesion to max! When I started my save my training was completed different.
      At start of a new save I wanted my team to have the most cohesion/tactic familiarity maxed as much as possible and fast as possible, That makes a huge difference trust me! In about 4 to 5 months you will have almost max. You want to have always (if possible) 2 friendly's or a friendly and a match day. You don's play both with the same players. Your FIRST 11 plays the match day the friendly you play your 2nd 11's. that way no risk of injurys and your whole squad will/is fit!
      So went like this,
      Mon-Unavailable;
      Tue-Teamwork,Team Bonding;
      Wed-Friendly match;
      Tue-Att. Movement, Teamwork;

    WARNING: it is true that you shouldn't get injuries if you make sure that the individual workload is not higher than medium. However, the workload changes constantly, especially if you set the intensity level to automatic, so you have to check every player on your team day to day.
    I was checking every week and got burned by my 4 first team players including main GK getting injured before CL qualifiers (this never happened before). Personally, its too much micro-management for me so I went back to using default schedules but other than that the rest of the tips and guides on training by Z are great.

    I have been doing two friendlies a week for the last three FMs, always have the lowest number of injuries in a season.
    The trick is to not go full balls to the wall with physical preseason, instead doing intense training for the first week (with one or no friendly, normal intensity and no additional focus), and then some dark blue and light blue (match prep) trainings for a week or two, and then moving into individual attack (green) and defence (purple) sessions, along with the technical sessions that make sense for your tactic (reenable additional focus, keep first team on normal intensity and bump up squad players to double).
    Keep this up, and play your last friendly one week before your first game, you will be miles ahead of any other team in terms of match sharpness by now and should cruise easily through the first month. You should have played around 8 friendlies, and I religiously give each player 45 mins regardless of fitness/sharpness. So you should have 22 players ready to go when the season hits.
    Zealand's videos are informative, but I'm sorry, I just didn't find this one to be an accurate representation of my own findings handling all my training myself.

    One of the key parts of pre-season for me is arranging mini-Leagues. These mini-leagues pull in mega$$$$ for my club. What this means is that for the 4 weeks of training, I have matches on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday against the most prestigious clubs I can. For smaller clubs, this cash influx is crucial. When I'm at bigger clubs, I arrange preseason tours. Ideally, I play 2 matches in China, 2 in Japan, 2 in South Korea then try to squeeze in 4 in the USA. For the big clubs, I can increase the cash flow by garnering fans across the globe. Any suggestions on how to balance making money and your preseason fitness?

    Hopefully this gets answered for once... Zealand trains all players in 'Roles' so does WorkThe Space and BusttheNet.. its been asked loads of times on SI forums but no clear answer. Training players in roles can lead to poor position/role/duty Familiarity if the trained role and playing roles don't match.. so what do these training experts say about this. Important or Not? Do these experts train player's in NON playing roles to best improve attributes? Do they switch to playing roles to improve familiarity?

    Great video Z. I aim to get match fitness and tactical familiarity up as quick as possible in pre-season. However, I play two games a week. But, by the end of the pre-season I may have over done it as a few players are fatigued and can't cope. Maybe hammering them with the endurance and quickness/resistance will help build them up, and they get to recover by playing only one game a week. Although, my team like to take part in tours so I feel obliged to play 2 matches in a week.
    I can't wait for the next episodes to see how your training plans compare to mine. In the season, I aim to concentrate on unit specific training. EG in the morning Patient attacking and in the afternoon, defending disengaged. Another day, Wing attack and defending wide. Plus match tactics, teamwork, attack positioning and defensive positioning just before the match.

    There is a trade-off you can do if you need more money (from friendlies with high reputation) and are willing to give up training spots but *not* injuries: Trialists.
    They are allowed to play in friendlies, so you can play your own team about half the time or less (reducing injury risk), so that you can play friendlies two or three times a week if you need a cash injection.
    Note that this is likely most relevant in the lower leagues, or in nations with very low achievement-based prizes. If you're in the Bundesliga or Serie A or something, the money you'll make from placing well (or avoiding relegation) is going to make the friendly money look like pocket change. In Vanarama North? Not so much.

I never use the endurance and "heavy" lifting at all, as I've had poor results with injuries. And I've never had any problems with fatigue and other things as well.
    (What would be neat tho, is that the Ass.manager, if allowed would move other trainers around if some training gets heavy to avoid injuries)

    I concentrate on physical and match related tactical training in the preseason as well. It's really the only way to get your team ready. And if you're like me and you like to have a big squad, schedule two friendlies per week so your AssMan rotates through all your players (hopefully). If you don't trust him to do that, set your lineups then sim the matches.

    I always get complaints that players think we do too much x. (usually something physical like quickness training) if I stash the pre season with physical segments. Once they start to complain, their training rating goes down. Nearly my entire squad scored between a rating of 5 to a 7; nearly everyone was below 6.5. In my experience, doing specific physical training is not too efficient on mondays because a lot of players are still recovering after a (Friendly) match. Players still recovering won't take part in that training making it useless. It's possible to adapt that, but forcing players to take part anyway significantly increases the chance of exhaustion and injury.
    What works for me is to stash the training schedule with tactical and technical aspects or general segments (attack/defense/overall/outfield). I'd only do physical segments like quickness/endurance/resistance during the middle of the week on weeks I only play 1 match a week. I'd try to do 1 segment of set piece delivery/att free kick/att corners once in every 3 or 4 weeks.
    Often on a monday, there's a standard physical segment. Assuming the match was played on saturday and I do recovery and team bonding on sunday, I prefer to move it to a monday and put goalkeeping/tactics/teamwork on the last segment to make the tuesday not too taxing. Goalkeepers barely get tired anyway so goalkeeping segments seem fine as filler. Avoid orange for intensity at all times. The day before the match I do fill the schedule but with lighter segments keeping intensity at a darker green.
    This worked for me. The vast majority of my team usually scores an 8+ rating in training with only about once in 4 months someone scoring lower than a 6.50. Praising everyone that scores higher than a 7.8/8 a week is a bit of a chore, but a free morale booster leading to even better results on the pitch and training.

      Training is done by units, attacking defending goalkeeping. For individuals you change position/role and extra focus but all training is dictated by the training unit they are in and the scheduled training sessions.

    • @NyctoGaming
      @NyctoGaming 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SimersFM Cool - any tips on how to pick the best "extra focus" ? Fill in weak spots with the player's game or try to improve stats important to their role? i.e. midfielder = passing

    • @SimersFM
      @SimersFM 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NyctoGaming it’s a really good question that you have to ask yourself on each player as this answer will depend on the player and what role you are asking them to do. I would say if there is a glaring weak attribute that is important to the role (highlighted in green) then that’s a good place to start. Set the player to train a specific position/role and see if there is anything glaring. If not, try to boost physical or technicals for younger players and maybe switch more so to mentals on older ones. Ultimately it just depends on the specific player though. Older players also are generally going to improve less and depending on potential you may be better off not asking to additionally focus.

    Pleaseee anyone can help out with explaining the logic here..I just saw this video and I am a bit confused…like endurance and resistance training affects “attributes “ to my understanding, and not some “hiden” condition heart thats gonna make players be less tired as the season goes on… So why put training like this as if it affects something non attribute related. Man this confused me and if i got this wrong then I got everything wrong when it comes to training..

    hey man great work on the channel! I have a question for you. one that you might be able to answer in a video.
    do we have proof that different attributes perform differently based on tactics? position and role being the same.
    easiest example i could think of is a fast centerback in a system with a high line against a slow one. we would expect al lthing equal the fast player would perform better in a high line system.
    I ask this because if we find proof that the tactic we play effects player performance based on certain attributes. we can then make the assumption that almost all tactics are viable if we have the right players for them.
    if you see this and you have the time to set somehting like this up I would very much appreciate it!

In each match, I'm noticing all of my players' heart icons are going way down into the red towards the end, whereas usually its just two or three at the end of the 90 minutes. My head physio is coming to me a lot more often already to raise fitness concerns and I'm only at the end of October. I'm having to start players who's heart icons haven't fully recovered after each game now. very confused, don't think I did anything wrong. will almost certainly be going back to my usual pre-season rather than using this. anyone else been having issues with this?
