    I'm so glad I found your channel!!! My husband died three years ago and I am having to learn how to fix things on my own. Your video out of all the others I have seen was the most helpful. You sure helped this middle aged lady. Thank you for you detailed video. You are a blessing. I sure hope you continue to make videos because you explain things so well. Thank You again Mrs Betty!!!

      Thank you for your encouraging message. I try to make my videos where even I can understand how to do it cause there’s a lot of things that don’t make any sense to me lol I got to replace my bathtub drain soon and boy that scares me (what if I take it out and can’t get it back in?!?) well, we’ll know next week 😁

    My blower is the exact same model as yours, but when I took it apart, I noticed the short pipe (on the primer bulb) was going to the carburetor and the long one went to the tank (just the opposite of what you showed.) Nevertheless, I assembled it exactly like you did following "short tube sucks, the long tube blows" idea. Being a guy and being somewhat impatient I skipped ahead and missed the part where you discovered you had the tubes hooked up opposite to the way Hitachi did it. I went back to watch the video again and that's when I realized I had it wrong. No big deal. I changed it so it works now. I would probably not even have gotten the black plastic cover off without this video! Thanks.😁

    Not a mechanic Betty, I was taking a trip into the twilight zone till I saw your video. Everything was going smoothly until I tried to put it back together. Then those screws suddenly shrunk, not long enough. Worked with it for 45 minutes, very frustrating. Did not remember a big gap between the carburetor and the plastic plate. After looking at your video I realized I that plate was backwards. Finally sanity returns, thank you so much!

      Sometimes even with pictures things can be confusing. I will turn the part every which way and say “what in the world is going on???”. Anyway; I’m glad I could help, that’s what I made the video for 😁. Take care and have a great day.

    Very good job. Nice closeup shots and explanation of how it works. One thing that came to mind that could have been a helpful hint, although you answer the question later - but it took a correcdtion - once you get the plate off and can see the back of the bulb before you pop out the bulb, look carefully at the bulb and you'll see two stems. As you pull off the two tubes, see which hose is attached to the longer and shorter of the bulb stems. Be sure to reattach the lines to the same stems. That's not a criticism because you caught it. But that eliminates the need to figure it out later. Thans - post more !

    YOU are VERY mechanically inclined! I just discovered that gas can only flow through the carb in one direction- from the supply line ( has a filter on the end of it in the gas tank), through the carb, and out on the suction side of the bulb. The gas and air that was in the carb is then ejected back into the gas tank via the smaller line that doesn't have a filter. l think you were just figuring that out in the video.

    Unfortunately, you state that the longer nipple on the primer bulb goes to the carburetor. That is incorrect. The fuel isn't pushed to the carb, rather it is sucked through from the tank. The shorter tube that provides the suction is the one that goes to the carb. I was also able to replace the bulb and tubes without pulling the carb or plastic holder plate off. I did this to avoid affecting the gasket between the carb and head as I didn't have a spare. I used needle nose plyers and a flat head screwdriver to pry the lines off. Nice video though. Thanks for doing it.

  • @dmaeder

    My Hitachi RB24EAP was lined in this direction: fuel filter > line > carb > line > primer bulb > line > tank. That way bubbles are purged from the carb.

    You have it backward, the shorter one goes into the carb, and the longer one is the return.

    Ms. Betty......I am a novice at mechanical repair. I am attempting to change the fuel lines on my Hitachi b/c one of them is broken at the grommet. I can't seem to loosen the bolts on the fuel intake/choke assembly.....I have used several different phillips head screwdrivers to do the job but no luck. As a "rookie" I do not have a bunch of job specific tools in my little toolbox.....and as a reitree I am trying to save a bucks by doing this myself (famous last words!). Any suggestions on how to loosen the assembly bolts? My Hitachi is over 10 years old.
    Thanks for any advice you may have to share.....

    • @NotamechanicBetty
      @NotamechanicBetty  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you spray them with a penetrating lube like pb blaster this is usually all it takes. Also try turning them both ways sometimes tightening them can actually help loosen them. Be careful not to strip the head I know you said it was a Phillips head but if you could find something to give more leverage like a breaker bar may help as well. Good luck to you
