    well I'm glad I watched till the end.. lol. I was having problems of it running for about 5 minutes. Die out and not come back on. I took the spark plug out and cleaned it with carb cleaner and a metal brush. I also let carb cleaner sit in the spark plug hole (chamber) for 30 minutes and poured it out. She started right up after and running like a champ. I will need to get a new plug later but this is a great vid! Thank you for putting in the time.

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edmund when you prime the primer ball do you see fuel entering the throttle because your spark plug should be wet with fuel if its getting to the cylinder. It should run if you have spark and fuel . The obvious question next would be is the fuel fresh enough to ignite , had to ask :)

  • @Zalagar619

    Thanks for the video. Just in case someone has the same problem I had, after I took off my carb and rebuilt it, then went to reinstall it, I couldn't get the Throttle cable back into the groove on top of the carb for the life of me. Fought it for 2 hours, still couldn't get it. So I ended up taking the side cover off the blower to get access to the throttle switch, It's pretty simple, just like 6-7 side cover Phillips screws, then there is one other screw under the fuel tank that just puts pressure on the bottom of the cover, just slightly loosen it and the cover will come right off. Up near the throttle switch, there is a groove in the side plastic moulding that the throttle cable is supposed to be resting in, well mine had come out somehow and it was causing the cable to come up short. I simply pushed it back in the groove and bam the cable then released enough to get it back into the groove on the top of the carb. Make sure when you go to put the cable back in, that you have the open-ended side with the hole in it facing away from the cable so that it will fall into the groove and recess into the cable holder. I also took advantage of the side cover being off and took off the exhaust muffler, just 2 Allen Head Bolts, mine was gummed up and had a lot of fuel and oil in it from trying to start it so much. Once I got it off, I took my torch and burnt out the screen in the small hole in the front, don't worry it doesn't hurt the screen, it just cleans out all the junk. Then I burnt out all the build-up in the bigger hole in the back. Once it cooled, I put it all back together, primed it, and bam, started on the first pull. No bogging or anything. Sorry for the long read, but just in case it might help one person, that's enough for me.

    Hi Everybody. Thanks for speedy reply I been tied up with another mess. First to Steve I mixed fresh gas to do this repair
    so I think that is good. Fonz thanks for pitchin in. The only gasket removed is large one between Carb body and cylinder housing
    gasket looks ok and torqued up tight. I can see fuel entering carb when I push priming bulb. Fuel doesn;t seem to be getting
    from there into cylinder if that makes sense to you, Get compression when i finger block the plug hole. Gonna try oem
    plug I got an after market replacement, Still don't get a pop when I hand prime it, Thanks All

    Baz Fritz with the Hitachi leaf blower that runs until it’s hot, maybe 10 min. Then just abruptly quits! Here is what I have tried:
    Change gas lines and line filter, & primer bulb
    New carb
    New plug
    New gas
    De carb
    Unscrew gas cap so is getting air
    Removed spark arrester
    Gas is almost right full on bulb, gas circulates when I pump primer bulb

    Nice job!
    I have a question for you or anyone who see’s this please.
    I took my throttle cable off by loosing nut and then disconnecting it like you did. After I replaced gas lines I put throttle cable back on, BUT it has shrunk by approx 1/4 or 3/8 of an inch. Now when I start blower it of course is reving much higher at idle and carb adj. screw doesn’t even reach. I can’t seem to lengthen the throttle cable.
    How do I get cable back to original length? What am I doing wrong that it’s shorter now?
    Thanks Steve and anyone else who has my answer for me!!!

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tom take another look at the connection of the throttle cable at the carb linkage. It can go in either side I believe but there is a recess on one side for the cable to slip into and the other side does not thus your short cable.

    Hi Steve, glad it worked for you, I have found that Amazon sells allot of knock off parts, even ones that say they are original OEM are fakes. Did you see Brian’s Ford channel, he just did a video on fake Ford motorcraft parts, well I just got done replacing all of my coil packs on my 05 Expedition, bought them on Amazon because they were allot cheaper than going to Autozone or the Ford dealer, and guess what, yup you guessed it, the ones from Amazon we’re definitely fakes, so freakin pissed off, now going to have to do it again and buy the right ones, but it is running good for now, but sure they won’t last. Anyway, I think the problem with you blower was the first piece you replaced, if it is what I think it is that is the fuel pump, after a while the rubber get hard and doesn’t flex like it should, and that is why it was starving for fuel. The gaskets do swell up as they get saturated with gasoline which is why the new ones appear to be thinner than the ones you took off. Really should change the needle and seat, the extra parts that came with the kit, but can always do it next time. Not so sure I will buy anymore parts from Amazon, just too much f@#kery going on to deal with trying to figure out if you bought good parts or some pice of crap parts. Just not worth the time and aggravation. Cheers, have a great weekend Steve.

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeffrey a buddy is a parts manager at a dealership and they get stung on fake OEM parts , knockoffs so good they get into the supply chain as well. This kit like so many either work or for some don't but just buying a new carb is a chore too unless you have a reliable parts supplier. You get what you pay for most times . Cheers bud.

  • @GrampiesWorkshop
    @GrampiesWorkshop 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How's she goin'? I like the plan of having a clean work surface and placing the parts in some sort of order to help with re-assemby!!! But then there is always the issue of "Are the new parts compatible'? Then when you're questioning the new parts, a previously working part decides to quit on you. That's why small engine guys have grey hair!!!! I have to give you credit though, you hung in there like a pro and now you have a good working blower again!!! Once again goodness and niceness has overcome evil and badness!!! Take care Steve!!!

    Hi Steve - Thanks for posting the video! Help me find the right parts and fix my own today! IMPORTANT NOTE: there was a big reason why your reassembly didn't fit quite right and why you had to torque your carburetor up way too tight afterward (because of leaking) and why the replacement parts you used seemed so flimsy compared to the originals you pulled off. All those parts that came in the kit are required in the reassembly. The originals are not "hardened out", they're just consolidated into one part whereas the kit has multiple components per each part. In other words, there is a rubber gasket part AND cardboard structural part to each component in the kit, whereas the original was just one piece. On the piece closer to the top, it's actually three pieces in the kit that make up the one original piece. Just posting for future viewers as I think this info will save trouble. If you kept those leftover pieces, you may want to go back and put them all in there - you'll find you won't have to over tighten and I suspect if you don't get those structural pieces in there soon, you'll have failure in the carburetor again very soon.

      Thanks Wes so nice of you to mention. So far it's still running great but if it starts to act up I will remember your comment. Cheers

      @Wes Grant I'm currently facing that problem. I got all the old gaskets removed and was installing the new ones, and when i got to the last gaskets on the pump assembly, I was able to get the 2 pieces apart, it has a gasket and a reed valve gasket thinner gasket. Well my kit came with the gasket, but it has 2 of the exact same reed valve gaskets. Whereas there is only one in the carb originally. I have no clue if I'm supposed to double stack the reed valves and then put the gasket over? or should I put it back how it was originally with just one reed valve gasket with the thicker gasket over it.... I'm kind of lost. I'm honestly starting to think I just got an extra as even the carb kit picture only shows one.

      I'm going to try one Reed valve thinner gasket and the thicker gasket, then the spacer plate, then the next gasket, then the metering block, then the Diaphram gasket, then Diaphram, then the diaphram cover plate. That's how it came off, and that's what his kit had also. But he did forget the thicker gasket, he just put the reed valve gasket in alone, they go together. It tricked him because they are stuck together when he took them out.

      Installed the rebuild kit just like it came out, with only one reed valve gasket and the thicker gasket. Put it back together and It started on the first pull :) I think the extra reed valve gasket was mistakenly added. It was a lot dirtier than the other gaskets in the bag, and it was a name brand Walbro kit.
