Love It... Discipline is the key. Good work ethics. No matter what you do in life it will take "PRACTICE" to become skilled at it. Yes there are some who are just gifted but for most it takes time and determination. There is an ole proverb “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now” ― the same principle applies to practice on your "Fiddle"
I appreciate your videos. You do a good job. I always start out playing arpeggios, trying to get my bow grip right and remember my intonation. Then I first the tune I’m working on, and “refresh” by playing my “carrots” (simple fun stuff that makes me happy).
I'am a Baroque/Classical Violinist and an Irish Fiddle player - Caught between worlds. I take a meteronome and go for the slured scales, and the arpegios. So, After about 3 hours of tecnique I really spend maybe 15 minutes on the airs. However; It would be brilliant to just pick it up and play! That would be...Um, Fun?! haha
Hello Liz, I just found your channel and loving it! I have been self taught for about 2 years now. I was just wondering, you said you are classically trained, but you do not hold the bow so. Can you explain why you are holding the bow so high? Thank you for your videos!
I have so many piano tracks made for me by a piano player. I don't do anything without 1) a Meteronome 2) a base track. I think alot of potential issues are that there might be players that don't reference enough. I've been to So, Many Irish music sessions where no one is in tune and it turns into a Guiness having session haha
I have a Seiko but it actually only plays an A and a Bb! You can get some metronomes that play all the tones, though, so that's a good one to have. You can also just go on TH-cam and look for "Cello Drone A" or whatever, and I like playing along with those drones too.
