Some list as the 8cr13MoV but all of mine are the 8cr14MoV! Its a great knife for $40. For the money you get a great blade! That 8cr14MoV steel is tough and easy to sharpen, even with one of them pull through pocket knife sharpeners! I beat on mine batoning and it never even scratched the blade! I got 3 SR1 Lites & 1 SR1! Tough folders!
Yeah i got both the SR1 & the SR1 Lite and i batoned with the SR1 Lite and it is tough, a tank! It never even hurt the blade! Also the cheaper version SR1 Lite is easy to sharpen! Both are nice but if you don't have the money, dont worry the SR1 Lite wont let you down! I definitely recommend both but definitely get the SR1 Lite! Like i said, i batoned with the Lite and it wore out the smaller batons, like 3 or 4 of them and cut a branch bigger than my arm and it did not even scratch the 8cr14MoV steel! I was so impressed with the Lite i bought 2 more! I dont beat on my SR1 just because its more expensive but it can handle it too! The strongest folder knife besides the Cold Steel 4 max!
Some back locks can be safely closed one handed if they have a larger choil like on the Spyderco Native 5 and Native Chief. Just put your finger tip in the path of the choil, press the back lock release and the choil will come down on your finger tip. Even if you just closed it without repositioning your finger, the choil will still hit the side of your index.
Definitely not an edc knife, at least for me. I tried for a week. Thing tore my pocket lol. This thing is a monster. I love it. Wonder if they’ll remake this one with Magnacut. Be cool if they came out with one that had cruwear steel.
Epic Video! You are the Rod Serling of the knife world! Dont know he is? He was the host of the Original TV Show " Twilight Zone." Great job, love my SR1!
I've got a Recon 1, and yes, it's got a solid lock up. But! I really don't like the placement of the release. I prefer a knife that I can easily deploy and close with one hand because of my line of work. I don't like the idea of a knife where my fingers are in the path of the leading edge when releasing the blade. This style of knife is great if you plan to baton but I've got fixed blades for that. If I could only carry one knife into the wild with as little as possible, I'd go in with just a fixed blade. It's almost perfect and I'll likely add it to my collection just 'cuz😂. Thanks for the review!
@@MNWoodland well thanks for the reply. I was hesitant buying a CS knife and that customer support encounter you had or hadn't.... isn't really great but one major knife shop here has a christmas special on the SR1 and price is almost reduced to 50% and taking the 19% tax into account it's still a pretty good deal here. So yeah I ordered one. Maybe I have the same issue as you... lol
Correction: I mention that the SR1 Lite has 8cr13mov steel, whereas it is actually 8cr14mov.

Absolutely agree! That's the purpose of this one to me. The same goes for the AD10 and 4Max Series, too... Awesome Folder! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I close it 1 handed all the time and have only cut myself a few times haha
Same. I had to practice hand placement so it would become second nature.
The 4Max is wider and bigger.
True
i always think of bk9
I think you're confusing a survival knife with a bushcraft knife.
칼 소계하면서 칼 사용은 너무 못 한다.
Are these new knives, or did cold steel service your chippped SR1/lite models?
@@wheretherubbermeetstheroad-s3x they’re the same. Not serviced.
@@MNWoodland Have you actually reached out to them or do you just live with that?
@@meoffjack I emailed them and never got a response. I decided it wasn’t worth my time to pursue it since the edge damage was so minimal.
