    Hi Lilly:
    I just ordered the knife from Canadian Preparedness site.
    I am happy to pay the full cost of a knife so that I can test them independently and review them.
    I formerly wrote for Fighting Knives Magazine as a practical field tester.
    I am alway excited when people Attempt to launch a new product for field use.
    I have been following your TH-cam posts for some time now. Alway happy to see your field reports of new products and equipment.
    I will in a few weeks write a review back to you once I get the knife and field test it.
    Best wishes on the launching of a new edge product.

      Hey Tark. I'm waiting on my BK22 by Becker, same knife as the BK2 but w/ a different sheath, and I'm curious what your thoughts are of it. Thanks.

      We need a do it all (reasonably) knife at an affordable price.

      @rubiconoutdoors3492 good choice.. I've got an ancient Gerber BMF that's my edc. But I'm looking to replace it with something a little less over the top lol

    • @rubiconoutdoors3492
      @rubiconoutdoors3492 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @dragonback6075 Survival lily took her knife building metric from cold steel. My survival knife is still the Tops b.o.b. I really don't know how joe x destroyed it. I put mine through hell and it's still great. I have friends with the srk and it's still a real deal performer. My every day pocket knife is the cold steel SR1, it's ugly but it's absolutely the best performer I have had. It's been 3 years in my pocket and still mint. I want to buy new knives because of bordum or wanting something new, but I can't bring myself just to buy something that I know won't be as thick, robust, and the triad lock breaks at like 700 lbs if I remember correctly. So how could I justify buying anything else ? Lol I might buy the AD10 , but it won't replace the sr1. Maybe I'll buy an sr1 for the left pocket. Lol

    I'm a huge fan of the Tracker design having owned versions by TOPS, Bark River and an original Beck WSK. My absolute favorite though is the Woodsman by Origin Knives. The chopping power is much better, convex grinds are way sharper and the saw is not just for notching. That combination of Tracker/Khukri hybrid flat out works!

    • @SurvivalLilly
      @SurvivalLilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Bohler also made a Tracker knife. And I believe Rob Russon was the first who designed the original tracker.

      Not a big fan when it comes to chopping with those. You have to take care to not chop with this transition zone and only with the front
      Mh why should convexe grinds be sharper?

    • @bushcraftcostarica808
      @bushcraftcostarica808 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@martinerhard8447 The Woodsman is a Khukri/Tracker hybrid so hitting the transition is not really an issue. As far as the convex being sharper, I really should have explained that better. The draw knife section of the Woodsman has a finer grind on the convex that the chopping section. It's extremely sharp compared to my TOPS or WSK which have the same grind angle throughout the entire length of the blade.

      I had purchased the first one, but this time I will pass. This primitive knife of simple steel does not worth $250 USD.

      @wrathofatlantis2316 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArmsLovers "Simple steel" that probably beats all the garbage that has been pushed in the past 20 years... Heat treat is what matters, not steel designation.

    • @ArmsLovers
      @ArmsLovers ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wrathofatlantis2316 Really? Why do you think so many different steels and steel types exist today? And why do you think different heat treatments yield different results on different knives? Dude, this is very, very complicated... there is not one single element can make knife great, everything matters, and should work together: handle, blade geometry, bevel type, thickness, and angle, steel and heat treatment, etc. And even if everything is done right, still there is no guarantee that the knife will be commercially successful. I am collecting knives for the last 25 years, and I have well over 1000 in my personal collection. I do not believe this specific knife worth the money (though I would buy it for about half of its price).

    • @wrathofatlantis2316
      @wrathofatlantis2316 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArmsLovers Many different steels exist because of hype and marketing. No knife should use CPM steels. I also owned hundreds of knives, and generally the best performing ones were always the expensive factory ones, and the worst the expensive US custom makers like Vaughn Neeley, and one $2000 RJ Martin Blackbird I owned in S30V. Factory steels, especially Seki City factory steels, like Al Mars in Aus-6, will beat all but the best of customs. A very extensive test in the Knives Illustrated of April 1999 used purpose built test mules, no knife variations, and good 440C beat everything else including the two first CPMs and INFI, and this by a large margin, as is my experience. D-2 was second but still behind.

    This is a great knife Lilly, reminds me of a knife we had to make in SERE school in my branch of the military, you had to either hammer one out of a pipe and use fire to forge one or use flint and stone to carve one out. They also taught us to throw it straight through tree trunks and practice drills killing people with them.
    I heard one guy seen too much so he ran off, carved up a couple of hunters with that type of knife, our LT had to go get him at US Marshalls office request.

    Hi Lilly! I just received my APO-1T from Canadian Prepper. It is AWESOME. Well done! You should be very proud to have designed such a beautiful and functional knife! My only suggestion for improvement is to replace the simple belt loop (as the video shows) for the sheath with some straps that works with MOLLE systems, like the APO-1S has. If you know of a good source of MOLLE straps that would readily work with this sheath, I would very much like to know that. Thanks again for creating such an excellent survival knife!!!

    Hello Lily, I watched your other video about the energy problem in Europe for this winter. As I know there is way of making hot compost to heat, and also result in compost for plants. I advise if you or others can check further information including government regulations and other concerns (including not to get insects and rats around). If it works and it is ok for your people to use it, this could help more or less for the heating problem.

    I mean no disrespect but I have a suggestion, the back half of the curve of the blade add a serrated part half way back from the tip. Just a minor serration to that part of the blade would be awesome!

    Lilly you could do a collaboration with the guys from UG tools for a high end bushcraft knife. They make very lightweight titanium handels which means more chopping power for the same weight.

    Thanks for the vid. The knife looks like a tool I would like to have in my bag when going into the woods. I realize this one is more a machete or heavy knife for chopping, maybe for batoning, which is appreciated. Nice.

    Well considered. I think the shape and balance will definitely be a plus for bushcraft needs. The sharpening video will be appreciated.

    Wow, that knife is heavier than my Cervenka pommeled cruciform guarded dagger with a 15" fairly robust blade. Then again the Cevenka is a loose replica of a medival 'knightly" dagger and not nearly as utilitarian.

    I’m extremely happy for you! It’s nice looks to be of great quality and it’s finish work. As someone who has made thousands of knives in both production, and also customs, I can attest to the difficulty of making knives with these types of grinds. I’m sure the price is more than worth the effort you put in and hope that your sales are amazing.
