At the Chinook Wind Outfitter store Trevor has some of his flies shown . Listed under the pro staff fly recipes . He has some very impressive patterns .
Hi Lawrence, you are correct simple is often just as good or in some instances better. There are a lot of chironomid tyers who really enjoy putting in subtle details. I have been known to do that from time to time. I am not always convinced the fish see or notice them but if it becomes a source of confidence for the fly tyer they probably believe in their patterns and consequently fish them better. I still come back to the point that if fish can see all of the details we put in flies how come they consistently don't notice the hook? 😀: Cheers, Phil
Thankyou for the reply.I was asking more specifically when Trevor was tying the pupa with the peak midge jaws what would be the largest hook those jaws could handle.Granted certain hook manufactures hook diameters run differently.Thankyou.
Hi Dan, I have tied up to size 6 streamer 2XH 3XL hook without any issues. I'm sure you could go a bit bigger, but I wouldn't. The key when using bigger hooks in the midge jaws is to place it further back in the jaws so you are not putting a lot of pressure on the tips. Hope this answers your question. Trevor

Just read an article about wealth privelage, did you lose access to lakes on Douglas Lakes Ranch ?
No there has always been access to the lakes on the ranch.
Maybe the owners blocked access to the other public lakes.
I have been trying to buy some of the "Woodduck " color thread for a couple of years . Is it a discontinued product ?
I don’t believe so. It still should be available through anyone who sells UTC thread.
Cheers, Phil
Aren’t you giving yourself more work than necessary it seems so you are 🐟🎣🤔
