    I have the same model and I agree with BAD things : 1, 2 and 4. I don't find plastics problematic... For n° 5, I bought the motorola dongle to make Android Auto wireless. One missing bad that I really HATE : the very limited and annoying way to pre-condition the battery before charging : you need to navigate to the charging station using Hyundai's GPS, and sometimes it even doesn't know the charging station.. so no possibility to pre-condition. Hyundai should allow to manually set pre-conditioning. For all the rest this car is FANTASTIC ! It's the best car I have ever owned... and my previous car was the Audi Q7 SUV !

    I don’t have a rear wiper on my Tesla Y and it doesn’t get dirty. Munro live are currently reverse engineering the Ioniq 5 (not sure of the production year. I would love the “lazy boy” type front seats. It’s a 3rd party option for Tesla. Great video!

      The angle of the rear window is less sloping and therefore self cleaning. For rear windows thats more straight downward like stations wagons, you need rear wipers.

    great video! i love these 10 things about the i5. I read that the reason they didn't have wireless android auto is because of their licensing with tomtom their navigation system and didn't want to compete with it, any ideas?

    • @ItsOnlyElectric
      @ItsOnlyElectric  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason i got from Hyundai is that it's a stability issue and that they think it's not stable enough for wireless. But at the same time that only goes for the advanced package (tech pack) and not for base model that has wireless support. So doesn't really make sense for me. More leaning towards a licensing issue or lack of component.

    I am also an Ioniq 5 owner having picked up mine earlier in the year, however mine is a lower spec more basic model. My number one dislike is the lack of a rear wiper which has greatly diminished my enthusiasm for the car, in fact I would advise anyone thinking of buying one to think again until this is resolved. I also think that the software setup is overly fussy and impossible to use safely while driving which is why I stick to the buttons while on the road. On mine the door handles do not pop out when unlocked so on a dark wet night it is no fun trying to open them from the outside particularly if you have a passenger who is unfamiliar with the model.
    If I sound like I hate the I5 that is not the case, in fact it has to be the most comfortable and relaxing car I have ever driven including my last five cars which were all Mercedes.

    Thank you for putting the lack of a rear window wiper up front! It's a true safety hazard. Many of us have contacted Hyundai about this and have gotten no response at all. Hopefully if they come out with it in 2024, they will offer a retrofit to those of us with earlier models.

    I liked how the turn signal taillights are amber coloured and separated from the brakes (which is a thin amber line while the rectangle brakes is 3 pixels tall. And then there’s the NA version (I live in Canada) where the pixel rectangle is 4 pixels taller and the turn signal taillight blinks inside the rectangle brake lights (which is the same colour as the brakes).
    I don’t mind both colours but to be more safer I prefer the accurate amber colour which could be nice if brought to NA.

    I could live with the bad things, although I also wish the Ioniq 5 had a rear window wiper (of course, my Model 3 doesn't have one either, so I'm used to that inconvenience). I agree with and want the good things you list. However, your frunk is larger than the models here in the USA, and I envy it. Someone was saying that the regulations here mandate that there has to be a release button to open the frunk, in case a child climbed inside it. Hyundai didn't want to add even more complication to the vehicle, so opted to just make the frunk too small for a child to crawl into. Tsk.

    The negatives for me are the rear wiper, the lack of physical buttons for the heated seats, lack of wireless carplay, the way you have to be using their nav system to use the battery preconditioning and the price of almost $60,000 for the limited. The price is really the only dealbreaker for me. The positives are the 320 hp with over 250 miles of range, the cool styling, a nice buttons, knob and switches, a good selection of colors and practical size. I’ve test driven it and I like it a lot but I don’t get a $60,000 feel when I’m in it. I think Hyundai and Kia are really knocking it out of the park.

    You missed the truly worst thing. There is no spare tire. Who drives a car with no spare tire? I know, there's a tire repair kit. Did you ever try to repair a blowout on the side wall with a tire repair kit? Cannot be done! Blow out a tire and you'll wait two days at least to have your car towed and the tire replaced hopefully at a nearby Hyundai agency provided of course that the given agency is EV certified and to service your ionic five. A $500 experience, minimum. I dealt with this by purchasing a full-size wheel and full-size tire. I keep it as a spare in that very spacious trunk, not so spacious any longerwith the essential spare, taking up half the space.

    • @ItsOnlyElectric
      @ItsOnlyElectric  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unfortunately that's the case for almost all new cars on the market. Not a single ev I have tried has a spare wheel.
      Thanks for watching. 👍

      What? Where do you live? Kongo? Mongolia? Burkina Faso? No, they do better than that in Burkina Faso. I ripped a tire on an object fallen off a truck. I called Hyundai, they sent me a tow truck with a courtesy car and I was 20 minutes late for work. I picked up my car on my way home and all of that cost me exactly nothing. The towing part was covered by Hyundai, the tires by insurance. Much better experience than changing wheels on a busy road in the snow. Spare wheels are a thing of the past and in some developping countries. In fact that incident about 4 years ago with my 28kWh Ioniq was the only time I had a flat tire outside of Africa in 40 years of driving.

      tens of thousands of us drive without a spare. I have not had a puncture in 20 years or so. My wife had one 2 weeks ago, and thats the first time for about the same period. Of course if one buys cheap tyres, and or runs them bald or nearly so, or if one hit curbs, then expect a puncture.

      The only punctures I had....were solved with some air (compressor).... may be 2 times in 30 years.
      It took the tyre one week before alarm from the pressure guarding.
      They repaired the tyre with a plug. (Was a previous cars)

I've test driven the SEL many times, and just test drove a limited the other day, these cars very are nice!!! I have a 2020 Sonata and it's nice also. Hyundai is an overall nice vehicle. The Ioniq was built to be sustainable so the materials will be a bit different. I have watch many videos online. The ones from "The Ioniq Guy" I find to be more reliable.
