Most of Blackpink's mv's have a "behind the scenes"/"making of" video and this one in particular is very good to watch. It gives you an insight on how they put these mv's together without the use of green screens or CGI. It will also give you a taste of the members personalities on and off stage. Would enjoy seeing your reaction to it.

Their leader and also main producer (1/3 of the producing team of stray kids) called Bang Chan is from Australia. Also the guy with the deep ass voice is an Aussie. Love their extraordinary music and their dynamic and that they are self-produced and sooo creative and cute, funny guys!

And just to let me know, I wrote one of my longest ever comments to your Shut down reaction and for some reason it got lost in the internet ether....so frustrating as I was too lazy and disappointed to reproduce it for you...I was just going into how it was a 6/8 beat rather then 3/4 and a little bit about how there are levels of Greek, etc mythology cleverly weaved into most of BP tracks (especially 'How you like that', which is probably a song you will do soon), etc etc. Anyway thanks again.

@@David-wm5lc Thanks David! Yeah counting rhythms isn’t my strong suit. But I’m working on it. Haha. I mean I should be able to pick a 3/4 from a 6/8 on the fly though.
Sorry about the other message, I used to be able to read and respond to every comment but it’s getting harder every day. Not only because of the amount of current comments, but also the other 230 (or so) videos I have up also generate regular comments too.
It’s actually one of the most disappointing things about getting bigger on TH-cam. Especially with the effort that people go to. I do absolutely real all I can because that where I get my info, and also it gives me direction in regards to what songs to do next.

The K-pop videos are each a solid production as you mentioned. If you think about all the costume changes, make up, backgrounds, dance moves, and the number of takes to get it "just right" it's amazing, plus including the music and continued perfect expressions by each girl. It's far more than just "dance" and/or "pop", it is a full performance such as you mentioned.

..in their Netflix documentary BLACKPINK: LIGHT UP THE SKY, their producer Teddy Park discussed WHISTLE, one of their two debut songs. He said that ..."too many people thought it was risky, most people at the company were against because it has this weird Country vibe to it, and it's super minimal. It just sounded too empty for a lot of people, most people were against it but we just pushed forward, whatever." WHISTLE went on to break the record for the fastest that a new artist reached number one in the charts, after only 13 days. Check it out: WHISTLE th-cam.com/video/dISNgvVpWlo/w-d-xo.html

GREAT breakdown and analysis, well done! Their writer/producer Teddy Park actually grew up in California and New York, he's got a real gift for blending both Eastern and Western influences. Three of the four members are fluent English speakers, which is also important as many other K-Pop groups sing/rap with accented English which can sound jarring or offputting to the Western ear. I'd recommend checking out HOW YOU LIKE THAT th-cam.com/video/ioNng23DkIM/w-d-xo.html next, and as a music producer you'll enjoy following it up with this video, it's one of the co-producers named 24 breaking down how they built the song: th-cam.com/video/sGQE_onAyjQ/w-d-xo.html

Thank you for the BTS reaction. If you want a rock sound in K-pop, listen to Dreamcatcher's PIRI. Dreamcatcher is not a band, but a group like BTS. But they did a good job mixing K-pop with a rock sound. There are many rock bands in Korea, but usually K-pop refers to the idol groups.

@@PrymalChaos Dreamcatcher's Chase Me is a bit more rock-heavy, and so is Piri. But in terms of actual rock and metal sounds in Kpop, I'd recommend FT Island's Pray (with actual screaming). Many of the comments are newer gen Kpop fans, but many older Kpop groups actually experimented far more liberally with rock and metal sounds. And FT Island isn't even that newer of a group, but because Kpop exploded relatively recently on the international stage, most fans do not have a perspective on the Kpop scene before late 2010s. Or for jungle rock and kpop mix, I'd recommend Day6's I wait. There are many sub-genres to Kpop, it'll take weeks to all explain them.
