It’s the way Isayama is able to introduce a character this late in his story and be able to astonish us through actions and words spoken by thy character. It’s insane really !

Magath’s death hit me like a truck. I was surprised at how much I had grown to like him despite his flaws and role in the story, and I wasn’t even aware of smaller details like using an Eldian’s name. How fitting it was that both sides military commanders would go out to serve a greater purpose. Great video as usual, keep up the good work

I was shocked with how effectively Isayama introduced such rich and layered characters so deep into the AOT story. And how naturally they fit into the overall themes of the story.

Theo's turn around at the end really took me for a really good surprise. I'm really proud to see he had it in him to realize the world was much more complex than he had thought in his entire half century life. That was really nice to see, and really uplifting, that he truly did believe in his causes, even though the actions he took were completely unjustifiable, and extremely heinous, he wasn't evil by any extent. His final actions really make me look back with new thought to his life and actions, that he was doing what he thought was right, and proving that with his final actions.

Magath is honestly one of my favorite new characters when he was introduced in Season 4. He was mainly following orders to command and train Eldian soldiers to fight for Marley's wars and very nationalistic. However, he still had a heart for the soldiers and cadets he trained, seeing them as family in a sense despite being taught from a very young age to hate all Eldians. He knew that titans were becoming less of a threat due to advancing technology and by working for such a time to realize Eldians are just like any other race in the world, there are both bad and good people among them that somehow just have the ability to transform into beings of mass destruction under the right conditions. He committed many horrible actions but only did so because he thought it was the right thing to do, but realistically hated having to commit them and makes up for those actions by sacrificing his and Shadis life to help out Armin's group to stop the Rumbling. Ultimately redeeming himself for his sins.

Every life matters. Every death really is such a shame. Attack on Titan makes this so apparent with how it treats its characters and their demises. Even if there is a character that you start out hating and expect to say "Finally!" if/when they die, by the time they do eventually die, it's not so black and white. (Not saying that Magath is a character I wanted to see die; this was just my train of thought as other characters came to mind whose lives also served a lot of purpose in a short span of time.)

His kindness towards the warrior candidates (despite his heinous acts which he was commanded to do and didn't let his conscious butt in) really showed me a man who cared and always did who just ended up following others too strongly, not thinking enough for himself and, it's so beautiful to see him, one of the people with the most blood on his hands, finally admit to not only others but Himself that what he's doing is wrong and wanting to what he can to make the world a better place for those he cares for and for generations of people down the line, both marlaien and eldian and anyone else really and to make sure they know what happened so that they'll never repeat the same mistakes he did

This is the second video I found on TH-cam about Attack on Titan that contradicted my personal beliefs. And while I like Magath that he acknowledged that Marley has become the very thing it hated and also cared about the lives of those under his command without prejudice, what I do not like about him is that he is not even trying to rebel by do not believe in the government's propagandas, let alone try to go against it in secret with legal loopholes. He has so many chances to do that but never did. And then, the attack on Liberio happened, which ultimately led to the Rumbling in the end. He and the rest of Marley cannot blame anyone but themselves because they supported and possibly, voted, for the genocide against all Eldians on Paradis in the first place. And this is what I wanted to truly talk about. It's about how much corrupted, flawed, broken and rotten the Marleyan society is. The same can also be applied about the Eldian society on Paradis as well. But I will focused on the Marleyan society for the moment. As you can see, we see the Marleyan civilians have been brainwashed into supporting the policies of aggressive expansion against other nations, mistreating the Eldians and blaming them for what their ancestors did, conscripting non-Marleyans into Marley military without their consents, promoting collective punishment and extreme form of corporal punishment and keep demanding for the genocide against the Eldians on Paradis despite the obvious fact that they didn't do anything to them or anyone. And all of these happened because the Marleyan civilians themselves supported this when the government asked them to. So the question is this: Can such a society be reformed? While the future generations can be taught to not repeat the same mistakes, can they do really better? What if they failed to do so? Why don't just destroy everything, the entire society included, and rebuild everything from the ground up? The reason why I believed and wanted the Marleyan society to be destroyed is because from my view as a believer of the Chinese philosophy known as Legalism and Islamic theology known as Ash'ari, the Marleyan society is beyond repair and it will be for the best to just destroy everything and start over. And this is one of the reasons why I supported the Rumbling, the Marleyan society is beyond repair and it is for the best to just destroy it and restart anew. This is what Magath did not think about like at all. The possibility of failure to reform the societies for the betterment of the next generations.
In case you do not know what Legalism is, it is the Chinese philosophy that stated that all humans are inherently evil and selfish. As for the Islamic theology known as Ash'ari, it is the theology that stated that all decisions made by humans are created by God. However, humans also possessed free wills as well. And that is why all humans have "acquired" responsibilities for their own actions even if those decisions are created by God. Yes, it has been stated throughout history that mistake is one of humanity's greatest teachers along with pain and suffering despite how much we hated the last two. However, it is undeniable that we humans often made mistakes because of our own decisions, which usually came from our own free wills to judge things and make decisions on our own, hench the reasons why we humans have to "acquire" responsibilities of decisions we made. God simply "approved" of them with hope that we will see the errors in our own ways some ways somehow if the decisions we humans made were wrong.
And no, I am not a Muslim. I'm just someone who believed in Legalism and Ash'ari.

@@Aleczandxr I guess you could say that. I really hate magath, to me he just seemed as a man who even at the end kept lying to himself that his actions were forced on him, and that he is sorry for not resisting it.
yet, that's not true. I keep getting the feeling from the show that he really was just part of the cycle, but in the unfocused season 4 it seems that even the story forgot what started the plot 9 years ago.
after 100 years of not touching paradise island, marley decided to attack so they could have the founding titan as a weapon in their wars.
that was the reason 4 warriors were send, and magath was one of the people present in that decision.
but when confronted with blame, he said that it was the eldians' original sin 2000 years ago that started this cycle.
but it's a lie, because he knows that for 100 of years no titan threatened marley, and this conflict did not start due to any threat or revenge but due to marley wanting a new weapon.
a decision not made by an accident or due to unaviodable circumstances or even revenge. yet not he nor the show confronts him for being a part of that decision.
And I know that is probably not what the writer meant in his character. but I cannot stand this pathetic character being supposedly redeemed, without anything in the show confronting him for being a willing and unprovoked participent in the new cycle of humanty's demise.

Pretending that other people don’t like season 4 because you don’t like it doesn’t make any since. It’s a fantastic story, and this just happens to be one of, if not the, greatest section

@@syntheticreality549 agreed s4 is actually the best of AoT imo but some people can't accept opinions other than their own

@@brandonhickman3477 agreed, like the idea that because you don’t like it, you think everyone else is lying about liking it? Maybe we’re just all in awe of how this story started like the walking dead and ended like the matrix.

Let me correct this videos title, what it should've said is "The non lasting impact of a character that died for nothing and was not remembered in the least". It's actually amazing how this channel continues to portray AoT as some genius masterpiece of storytelling when it's clearly not even close.
