I had the opposite of a choosing begger. Had someone come up to me at a Taco Bell and asked him if I could buy him something to eat. I agreed and he went to the counter and ordered two hardshell tacos. Since he kept it so small I offered to let him get more or a drink, and he refused and just wanted his two tacos. I paid for them and wished him a good day.

As someone who's been there having hard times and sometime being homeless. Yeah we don't want to be a burden on others so we just take minimal what we need. We're not greedy despite what certain news networks will tell you. As a result of my own experience I always offer what I can to homeless people or beggars on the street cause I know what it's like to be in that situation. People who have it well cannot understand the shame of having to ask or depend on someone else for money or food even if they sympathize.

The crochet one felt different after I've learned to make one. I also made a hat for my nephew and my sister was so happy, mind you I'm a beginner and it's hard to see the details cause I bought a dark color yarn but she's happy.
She even posted her baby's 4th month old with the hat I made. Mentioning my name and saying thank you. If I crochet something and it got rejected being considered as not a real clothing, I would feel sad af until I realize how stupid they are.

I had family crochet and knit baby items for my baby when I was pregnant. And I bought some items at craft fairs, too. 16 years on, I kept all of these items because of the sentimental value. I appreciate all the effort that goes into making an item for someone. My daughter values these items, too.
Breaks my heart that some cannot appreciate an item that is handmade.

Pro tip: *Some* people try to poison the unhoused, so many homeless people will refuse to eat food that's given to them so they aren't poisoned, so I'd recommend bringing them with you to a food place or grocery store if you want to give them food. Also I can see why that one person said they needed 8 people to give them 30-50$, either they're just saying they need 240-400$ in any increments or they're using a money transfer app that has fees that make transfers under 30$ mostly useless. I've seen many mutual aid posts say stuff like "Goal: 250$, if just 10 people donated 25$, I could afford [thing they need]".

@8:13 "It's the least they can do after Pearl Harbor" The US really doesn't want to pull that thread... Also, we did do Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a lot of damage and civilian lives lost in those events...
Just looking at a handful of things from WW2,
How much do we owe the Japanese for our internment camps? And all the other races and ethnicities locked up in camps similar to the ones we claimed to be fighting?
How much does the US owe all the other allied countries for letting them die and fight to end a genocide while we sat back for years doing nothing?
How much does the US owe all the Jews, gypsies, gay people, POWs, socialists, communists, etc for allowing Auschwitz to stay open? Even while US soldiers begged to let them bomb the tracks and close the camp, Hitle- sorry, I mean Roosevelt, so easy to confuse the two likeminded genocidal bigots, WANTED it to keep operating because he WANTED more Jews to die.
How much for keeping the camps running with the Nazi's in charge and Jews and other prisoners barred from leaving, starved and beaten, and treated like garbage (see Nazi lover general George S. Patton's letters while he was in charge of running the camps)?
How much for making unconstitutional laws blocking Jews from seeking refuge and banning more Jews during the time we needed it most than any other time in history, no matter how qualified and great of a candidate they are, and no matter what they faced when rejected?
How much for the over 900 SS ST. Louis Jewish passengers who were denied entry into the US after being tricked by Cuba to immigrate there, even though they faced certain death if the ship turned around, some passengers even having escaped the death camps? How much for illegally and against international law gave orders to shoot to kill anyone who tried to jump off the ship to claim refugee status? How much for threatening relations with Canada to blackmail them from accepting any of the passengers, fighting tooth and nail as soon as they heard Canada was going to allow them refuge? Once finding out ALL the passengers had made a suicide pact, agreeing to all kill themselves and their children rather than be sent back to Nazi Germany, the hero captain promised he would not bring any of them back to Germany, not matter what it took. He kept that promise, but many of the passengers ended up in dangerous places, dying in their new homes from the war or rounded up in their new home when it was invaded, leaving a third of the victims to die in concentration camps, including every one of the prisoners who originally got out. They would have all likely survived in the US or Canada.
How much for all the Jews and other victims targeted in the Holocaust who didn't get a chance to seek any form or punishment for, or protection from, the Nazi's that toured them and slaughtered all their loved ones in a genocide because the US decided that rather than bringing them up on charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes, they should be rewarded with new lives, new names and identities, a new start at a fresh life in the US with wealth, property, prosperity, and professional careers, all things they robbed from their victims? Some of the worst people in the world getting some of the best opportunities in the world. They are going down in history as heroes rather than villains, rewarded rather than punished, loved instead of loathed, while the millions they helped kill are not only forgotten (or being re-written as ungrateful instigators who caused WW2), they have no graves, no names, no one left to remember them or their lives, but their oppressors get honored with their names on buildings and their pictures in history books.
How much to China for allowing the Unit 731 Hell doctors to get away with their war crimes and crimes against humanity, and then protecting them and helping them escape any other country from prosecuting them, in hopes they would continue their horrific forced human experiments and we could steal that work for our own biological warfare? Don't worry, the US isn't getting that information... North Korea is, that's where they went with their super plague termites and the US only has itself to blame.
How much to all the soldiers who were POC and sent into battle as cannon fodder, lacking training, weapons, or resources of any kind?
I could keep going, I could probably sit here for hours listing more and more things the US did that would constitute restitution under this guy’s concept of "owe." The US did a LOT of shady stuff, still does, and they are working as hard as possible to remove the Holocaust entirely from history, because who cares it that history repeats itself, like is happening right now? It was bad enough they whitewashed it, altered it, rearranged it, blatantly lied all to make an American Exceptionalism style story and how we were perfect heroes and everyone else was, at best, along for the ride. In school I was taught WW2 started in late 1941. That's when the US entered the war. It was YEARS after the start.
But the US history books are so fucked up, they only look at it through the lens of white Christians with generational US citizenship. They always make the US the center of the world... *LITERALLY* They cut the world in half to put the US in the center of the map. I hadn't seen a real-world map until I was a teenager. When we teach history, any history, our textbooks find a way to make the US the protagonist, everyone else either an antagonist or weak, hapless, peons in need of our greatness and our saving. Even before the US was a country, we were somehow the best country, we were better before we ever existed. It's the one thing we're best at, thinking we're the best. We literally aren't the best at anything, education, happiness, unemployment, freedoms, crime, wealth, health, prosperity, intelligence, progress, etc. We're pretty close at being number on in gun violence in the whole world, and we are number one among the developed world, but we are undoubtedly number one, 1st place, unbeatable in thinking we're the best. Our history is so messed up. Studies have been done around the world on US history and politics. They tested 4th graders, 8th graders, and 12th graders around the whole US and in many other countries all around the world. Among *every single* grade level, the US did not test best in our own history (and we're a newer country, we have a lot less of it) and government. Not only did we not do the best, the US came in *last* place, in *every* grade level, behind *every other* single country. Among students in the whole world, the people who know the very least about our history and politics, is us. And as bad as all that is, it's getting worse. The GOP and people like DeSantis and Youngkin and other asinine child hating ignorant bigots want to make history even more fake, filled with even more lies, hiding even more of the most important parts of it, forgetting the things most important to remember, rewriting it entirely, to make it even more about American Exceptionalism by removing anything about the Holocaust, calling slavery good for black people who are just whiney and ungrateful for it, whitewashing it to remove the heritage of anyone they can pass off as white. They're trying to make history yet another form of indoctrination for our children. And we can't even hope to do teach them at home because the books are being pulled, banned, and burned, from our schools, public libraries, stores, and soon they may very well be coming for the ones in our homes. Kind of like how they claim we're trying to take their guns, except no one is taking anyone's guns, but they are actually trying to take our books.

I feel like this is a poor judgement. If it's blistering hot and I'm homeless, I wouldn't be "thankful for help" when people give me food because I live OUTSIDE. It will spoil and then contribute to negative stereotypes about homeless people being filthy when it's literally not their fault that people think giving with no fridge perishable food. I forgive this more because it says water, but I feel like these comments just justify people hating on homeless people for being "ungrateful" when they literally can make no use of the food you are giving them.

And humans have a mechanism to note that we're running low on intake, something called "getting hungry" lol (sorry had to do that)
Eat moderately and do it whenever that tummy is rumbling. It's actually better for people to stave hunger tantrums but pull out physical moves and works to actually use calories and keeping them at a deficit, than to calculate a definite caloric intake but are suffering because of it and can't do proper physical activity

I can’t drive and my boyfriend didn’t have a car at the time (he does now) and we needed all the stuff we can get before we could buy things. We found a place that’s non profit. Every time you watch informational videos throughout pregnancy, you get 2 baby bucks (if you bring your partner, you get 4). Those will act as money to get you things upstairs for toys, maternity wear, books, baby/toddler/small kids clothes, and other baby stuff. We still got free things from other people though (hand-me-downs and women who hasn’t used things for their baby). Our daughter is 6 months and we’re going to do the same
