Robin and InsaneParents go together perfectly - there's no narrator better at ranting over inept and terrible parents than Rantin' Robin <:

Imagine being in a life threatening situation and your mom's last words are "did you do the dishes?"

  • @pumpkinpatch2203

My mom apologizing for my childhood and admitting they put me in situations no child should ever be in, honestly did so much for my self worth, my mental health and my relationship with her

“I’m not your therapist.” I love the points Robin made about this because it’s just an angry middle aged woman speaking with idle tongue. A mother is one who helps console their kid when they need it, regardless of time, mood, et cetera. Saying you’re not their therapist, in a medical/legal term, is correct. However, you still signed up to take care of your kid, which includes expressing support for them when they’re disconcerted or upset.

I hate it when people call Halloween “satanic” because fun fact: during the Celtic festival of Samhain, a holiday similar to Halloween, they dressed up to ward off ghosts and spirits

Robin pointing out how making threats on your children to basicslly making them homeless is bad is REALLY making me rethink my mom. She said she’d kick me out the house if I didn’t finish all the homework I ended up procrastinating in. Fair with the procrastination I would guess, but,,, yeah

All children deserve a parent, not all parents deserve children.

I love how the divorced mom has the ex listed as "Dumb Dumb' in her contacts. That text just proved she was correct.

As I recall, the guy who infamously poisoned Halloween candy only gave it to his own kids

r/insaneparents makes me so fucking thankful of my parents for being actual good parents and people

The dishes thing and sociopathic Mothers is completely true. My lung collapsed years ago while I was visiting my Mother, and I ended up a couple minutes away from the other one collapsing and killing me despite having made it to the ER (Because the ER and hospital in my area is horrible.) They finally intubated me and the nurse called my Emergency contacts, one of them having been my mother, which has since been changed. She told her what happened, how close I was to death etc. All my mother asked was "Did he do the dishes before he left? Will you pay for a taxi (I had left my car) for him to come back and clean the dishes and kitchen?" The nurse politely ended the call and gave me the most empathetic pitiable look before stepping out the room.

My mom used to be JUST like these crazy parents.

  • @Veiled_Lepidoptera

I love these. I love how outraged Robin gets. Thank you for being an advocate for people with abusive parents, Robin. You're amazing.

The dishes part reminded me back when a friend I used to hang out with (also with other friends), had this one parent that practically banned everyone from coming over because "their child" did not clean the ONE dish that was left in the sink. JUST. ONE.

The hardest thing about having to deal with parents like this past 18 is just the fact that if they decide to, they just legitimately can throw you out on the street. They make you feel like you can't stand up to them, EVER, or you're completely screwed. And let me tell you, having that paranoia hanging over your head at all times does NOT make it easier to solve the problem. My mom wasn't like that, thankfully. It was my stepdad. I wasn't getting kicked out unless I did something real stupid. But that didn't help the way I felt, and some people have it worse than I did. I wish I had more advice to give.
