The Polaris and Can Am cars are highly modified production vehicles. In fact Polaris won both the Baja 1000 and Dakar last year. Suck it Canada! USA! USA!
Those aren't normal dual dampers one is a bypass shock just like we do it in America. It's not for durability, it's for performance. The bypass shock has positional damping control. I've never seen it on a rally car. I wish you knew about it and could give some opinions about it.
Maybe that's why most of the teams didn't use it before at the Dakar Rally, durability. Most teams run dual shock for this exact reason, what would have happened if the main coil shock went dead and there was only bypass shock left? Would it be able to take all the load?
You mention turbo V6s being more compact and lighter. That’s very subjective. The block is smaller, sure, but you have the volume of the turbo(s) to package, control strategy for the turbos, intercooler, increased heat exchanger volume, etc, etc. The coyote is a very compact engine for a DOHC V8, and the V6 already has the same head volume issues inherent to DOHC layouts. I’d wager that overall the V8 packages better and is a lighter solution in this specific case.
Dakar should be an opportunity to show off whether SUVs can actually work off road. Ford produce quite a few. Should we conclude that these Fords are simply for the school run / supermarket trips ??
Dakar rally cars have almost nothing in common with any road-legal cars, just some design details that make them more distinguishable between the teams and brands.
@@maiasdad I looked it up and it’s actually Prodrive running the Dacia project. They even have the same drivers, Loeb and that Qatari crybaby. Prodrive is definitely more experienced than M Sport.
WAKE UP, BSPORT UPLOADED‼️‼️‼️
I wish there was a Dakar class for actual off the lot production vehicles, "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday."

Team Loeb used bypass shocks last year and won the Dakar.
to me (a layman) it reminds me of the damper setup in trophy trucks. but i might be wrong
@@johncarl5505 Sainz won Dakar with Audi, not Loeb

When they don't let Spare Tyre Bulge Over Surface - Aerodynamics Rules But, Efficiency of Driving & Recovery got Second.
Great Cut. Thanks mate
Reason why customers switched to turbocharged V6, as per Martin Prokop, is mainly lack of power in higher altitudes
One issue can be cooling at high altitude. But I guess they can reduce the boost to mitigate the issue.
They finally learned about bypass shocks in rally. You should've mentioned that, I'm pretty sure it's one of the very first.
John Marking's babies..
Not the first. Team Loeb used it last year.
I'm curious if the suspension will be the make or brake point. There is a reason why other manufacturers choose other brands.
Team Loeb racing won the Dakar last year with Fox shocks.
@johncarl5505 not the overal win.
A gorgeous racing machine.
Thanks
Looks really good, hope that it performs as well
Sainz Sr. to Redbull-marked car. What a good place to start a conspiracy theory.
Sainz Sr. has had Red Bull backing since the rally days
i cant wait

The power at high altitude is the problem here.
@ Looks like the entire route is at ~2000ft or less of elevation. That’s not a big concern.
I’m a huge Sainz fan (snr & jnr) and a Ford fan. But change the name on the grille and this could be any make of car.
Great analysis as always

I would love to see El Matador win again!
Speaking of 2025 Dakar competitors, why did the X-Raid team finally make the jump to petrol engines? What took them so long (20 years) to do so?
Diesel engines were/are their strong side tho, more torque and less fuel consumption.
Is the engine at the front or back?
It’s fascinating how the Dacia Sandrider is already winning races despite being just as new to the scene and having much less resources than Ford
Doesn't the Dacia team consist of some of the old Audi team. M Sport definitely has less experience.

Prodrive has tons of resources actually, arguably more experienced than M-Sport
The Cayote is indestructible at this point, so it makes sense why Ford decided to use it.
I like the Ford. I hope they have a good Rally.
Will you make a Video to the Dacia Too?
Yes, will be next
Long to see an American team at the Dakar.
