For the older Top Gear viewers. This van has the power of around 300 G-Wiz vehicles (at around their normal power output, as the power on them does vary depending on battery level, which is hilarious.) Although no, you cannot tape 300 G-Wiz vehicles together to be this fast.
I'm interested in its times too, even though it's optimized for the experience and the not necessarily the time. I suspect it wont even be in the same ballpark though :-/
That's not a van though... the older versions were. This isn't. The entire back end isn't there to make room for the ridiculous spoiler. More like a slightly taller saloon than a van.
I think they lost sight of what made the super vans cool and started thinking it being faster would be cooler. Now it’s just a lightly van shaped race car which just ends up being a crappy race car. Would be way more interesting if it was actually a van with a few race car parts like the old ones were.
A quick glance at the leader board, I noticed that the legendary, Ultima GTR isn't on their. I know it was an unofficial lap, but come on it's about time the Ultima got a showing on Top Gear, even if it's just the youtube channel.

LOL XiaoMi SU7 Ultra lap record makes no sense. 6:46.87 over 10 seconds faster than the Ford GTD. Only 3sec slower than the AMG GT Black Series. That is quite an anomaly.
"Van". Even without all that aero, slick tyres and those 4 electric motors it isn't a van. It's just as much of a Van as a Jesko is. The whole Van part is shrunk down like a Ford GT. Of course it's gonna be fast. It's a 2000 hp shell with slicks. Got nice FOS vibes from the sound of it though.
true... the Jesko is road legal and doesnt use slicks., the F1 car was on grooved tires and not full slicks... bring all of the older record cars to the track and give them the newest full slicks and things will change dramatically. tire technology made huge jumps in the last years and those other records are old. and the Supervan is a multi million dollar one of one race car that was build for only one purpose without any restrictions. other then F1 cars or GT3 cars or street cars which indeed have restrictions, the Supervan was build without any rules. and try that record run again on the Nordschleife... a longer track will quickly change things there. the time is really good but not as special as they try to make it look
Slicks don't claw grip out of a surface, like knobblies do on dirt/gravel. They get their grip via cohesion, like goal keeper's gloves. When road wheels have tread, it's to disperse surface water, so a film of water doesn't get between the flat part of the tyre's surface and the road, causing aquaplaning. It is still cohesional that gives the grip on road tyres, not mechanical grip like off-road knobbly tyres use.
Just for the record- electric motor noises ARE legit auto-enthusiast noises! Yes, yes, v8/v10 scream we all love, still true, but if that turbine-esque whining and screaming doesn't get you stoked to drive, you're just being disagreeable for the sake of it, IMO. Madness! In the best of ways.
