Let's just preface this video by saying that some of this stuff just shouldn't be physically possible. Well, try telling that to Kamaz! They are better know for dominating the Dakar Rally, winning that race a phenomenal 17 times, but what you may not know are some of the other amazing feats this truck has done in the past.

honestly I'm more impressed by the level of sportsmanship displayed during this presentation. The truck is absolutely outrageous in the best possible way, however, the gents doing the driving and maintenance seem to be of a proper stock. Crack on lads, you're one for the books.

Yea as an aspiring physicist that statement bugged me. And if it has a higher suspension than say a regular rally car (which I’m not scared saying it probably has) the amount of G’s it will “pull” on impact will be less, so it’s not even an impressing statement
Also it doesn't have anything to do with its weight either

@@TrynaBeCray Sounds about right, 12g would kill a normal human quite quicly (not instantly but heart could not keep up and pump blood into your brain which would kill most untrained humans).

years ago worked in truck company, american trucks for unknown reasons had always been famous for its non-maneuverability, non-sharp, woody wheeling and big af place needed for reversal turns. Peterbilt, Kenworth, Ford, Mack
but I need to admit - what about driver comfort those were #1 or in first three definitely

Ah yes Russian design, make a heavy duty brick with almost nothing to go wrong with it, then continue making them the same way for 50 years.
It's classic design for light all terrain trucks. See also MAN for rallye or Renault S180, 110 150, midlum 220.14, D4, Iveco 135 E23W for firefighters.

@@Plusle843 Only because the max speed of the truck is restricted. 30 odd years ago a DAF truck was already passing rally raid cars at speed in the desert(paris dakar).

The Kamas is unreasonably badass.
They basically took an MRAP (might need to google it) and turned it into a race truck...respect.

It is like getting a Prius and puttint a hellcat engine in there. Only thing that is orignal from this Kamaz is the body.
My hat is off to the whole Kamaz team and the drivers brilliant, the shot that amazed me was the first minute or so of the drift Mazda it looked more like clever photography using a radio control drift car along side the Mighty Kamaz, if I had my time again I would love to be with the Kamaz team driver co-driver hey tea boy just to say I did, but at 64 probably not going to happen.
Hey, don't give up - I did the Nurbergring Nordschleife for the first time at age 60 - in a Porsche S2 that was 25 years old (10:69) -never give up....
In Dakar, truck category is more interesting than bikes and cars. Love to see those monsters running through the desert.
No it's not. Truck class is only 3-4 Kamazes battling it out among themselves, leaving other, non-factory drivers far behind and irrelevant. Whereas you have fierce competition in bike, car and ssv classes and unpredictable outcome almost every year.

First time I saw this truck was at goodwood. I was wondering why everyone was freaking out when they saw it. When I found it on the internet I realized I saw a legend.... that happens a lot at goodwood.

The Kamaz is a beast.. Russian innovation has been great over the past 2 decades... the SHERP being a very interesting creation in itself.. and you have this beast.. 13 liter, blown 6 cylinder.. damn.. Those pistons have to be HUUUUGE

The only Russian part in Dakar Kamaz is a driver, everything else is foreign made, including engine, transmission, suspension…. I mean everything

Remember: a stock Lada Niva came second in Dakar... no other brand has every come close.
That Kamaz need to be heavily modified to keep up lol
The Niva is the best offroader ever. (The three door one, the five door Niva loses some offroad capabilities in favor for some space). Light, short, sturdy. It's not built for comfort, it's built to get you from point A to point B, no matter if there is a road or if there is none. The lack of powered steering is a serious downside, but the car always has space for modifications. It's also undeniably cute for a bucket with bolts.
