Hey, when do you think I should change my LinkedIn title to PMHNP, Student? I don’t start until August. Thanks for all the great info.

I would not change the title until you actually are in school. However, when you send invites to potential connections, you can mention that your are starting PMHNP school in August of 2024.

how do clean up your social media stuff?

Good question. For me it was maybe easier than some. As a self-care measure, I cancelled all my social media accounts, excluding LinkedIn and TH-cam, about 4 years ago. So there was not as much to comb through. Basically you start scrolling through all of your past posts. If you see something you would not want a potential employer to see, you should delete it. Either that, or severely lock down your account for access to only those people you authorize.

How old do you happen to be? I do worry about being 50 when I graduate from PMHNP school. It helps to see others that are older that are going through this process since most people are in their 20’s with a year or 2 of RN experience under their belt!

I didn’t start NURSING SCHOOL until I was in my 50’s, so you are not too old. Most of the people in my PMHNP cohort at my school are in the 40’s and 50’s. Your maturity and life experience will be welcomed by many patients!! You might also watch my video ‘are you too old for NP school’.

Did you have to pay for preceptors

@@Kimmer-beautiful Good question. I did have to pay. My school provided a small hourly stipend to my preceptors and I made up the difference. While this will vary from one location to another, the going rate in my area seems to be between $500 to $1500 per semester. 😥
