Could be worse. Hidden jobs. In Finland, many workplaces no longer advertise their vacancies and the unemployed jobseekers desperately try to find these hidden jobs by sending applications to all possible companies where they can get a job and therefore even the law requires that the unemployed must apply for a job at any job even if they do not have the qualifications for that job. It's not practical and consumes resources, but governments have no desire to change the system because it's "American" and it makes the unemployed apply for as many jobs as possible which seems more efficient. At one point, there was an attempt to force companies to announce their vacancies, but the companies refused because announcing vacancies takes time.
@@danielmalinen6337wow....the lack of any human decency or respect from c0rporati0ns and the elite is staggering. They don't even see us as human beings.....they actively hate us..... Yet...they want us to be dedicated to them fully, bring work home unpaid, demand loyalty, talk about passion for their business...when they won't even pay anyone a living wage or give the smallest **** about our lives or finances...then they're surprised why everyone job hops or doesn't want to work anymore
I wouldn't turn to the government for a solution to this. I'm tired of things being illegal. What good is the government? What if there was a website that scored employers? I'm pretty sure there's enough data out there to figure out which employers are posting ghost jobs. The job board itself has this information. They could prioritize the companies that are actually hiring in job searches. Then they could boast their application to higher ratio.
@@danielmalinen6337 As if taking time ever stopped companies from anything else. This is why laws are required. Because companies can make any excuse to screw people over.
@zachbeall6810 me? Idk how not wanting to waste my life away working for a corporation and seen as a number on a spread sheet is being entitled but OK friend. I would love to be able to do stuff, enjoy life, travel, make my own food, and not be restricted by boundaries. But that won't happen in this life. Everything in this life requires money. Food, travel, shelter, relationships, family, education, everything. And working for $12 an hour because every job ghosts you even when you have education and experience, so you have to settle for less, which is beyond unfortunate.
@@SilverLinin_ yes, you seem to think you are entitled to other people's money. It's up to you to stand out and prove your value if you want to work for someone or you can work for yourself.
@zachbeall6810 huh? In what way do I think I'm entitled to others' money? I'm saying I went to school, got the knowledge, and worked in similar environments to get the experience, but somehow get rejected or ghosted, and I'm selfish for being dissatisfied with that? And i would love it if someone just gave me more than just a talk from the hr view to actually prove it. You have to be a troll... Good thing the tens of millions of illegal invaders the Demcrats and jewish NGOs are bringing into the country will do just that. Almost as if you're being replaced...

Either per infraction or it should be scaled percentage fine to the income of the company. To really make it hurt for the big guys... Since a 500k fine ain't going to hurt Tesla...
Man.... This is fucking soulless. Not attacking you Vincent. You're helping us increase our chances in an impossible time. I just mean this whole situation and how we all ended up here is just soulless.
Tip for job seekers: beware of "recruiters" offering to find you a job. Their business model is to build up their repertoire of candidates using your resumes to make themselves attractive to companies who will hire them to do the work of filling job openings. But many of these recruiters are just incompetent hacks trying to build up their portfolio and really have no job lined up for you specifically. Even worse, they may try to stuff you in a role that is lucrative for them to fill but not great for you. You may want to work with one or two during your career, but just be aware they do NOT work for you and do not have your interests as their focus. As Vincent said, your best route is to find a contact inside the company you can use.
A lot of them don’t know geography either. I’m so tired of being reached out to by recruiters who know my name and my email or phone number and my qualifications, but not where I’m located. The positions they are contacting me about are not even in the state I live in, and NO!😡 I’m not willing to relocate 🙄
Of course if you vote for the politicians on the opposite side when they get in power they'll be saying the exact same thing acting like they did something.
Let's not forget that "entry level" jobs aren't entry level anymore. There's no training, it requires years of experience and there's a knowledge "paywall". Nobody wants to give anyone a chance to prove themselves; skills can be taught, hire personality and values...they hire resumes and not people...if they're even hiring.
That’s the problem, seeing most vacancy ads stating that experience in a similar role is a must just shows that no one wants to take the burden of helping someone start their career. I completed my studies early this year and have a professional membership but I’m constantly being rejected for jobs due to only having voluntary experience in the field. By now I could be fully trained and competent but I’m still applying for jobs and having them all waste my time. I’m starting to believe I’m living in the matrix’s where all jobs are fake and other people are all NPCs.
This, I've been jobsearching for months and thought I'd might as well try and get a minimum wage coffee shop job. Nope! Almost every coffee shop job /required/ a minimum of 2 years experience as a coffee barista. They weren't even fancy spaces. It sucks.
This is EXACTLY what I need right now. Not those motivational "do not give up" clichés or "breathing exercises". I had been in panic attack the whole day, listened to calming music on Spotify, listened to podcast, until I ended up in YT looking for help. Nothing calmed me down until this video. I needed facts why nothing is working for 2 years!!! Not motivational sh*t because those speeches can't solve the fact that I've been jobless for 2 years!!
I am completely unashamed to say that I despise these 'do not give up' bullshit motivation things with a burning passion. They absolutely do NOT help you in getting a job because they are just empty words. In fact, it can come off as so extremely shallow and callous when there are people out there who are not eating enough and are close to homelessness. We would rather hear the hard truth that we're going to be unemployed for a very long time. It's actually more comforting and helps us accept the reality of the situation.
@@droopsie1 No. I just accepted it and stopped looking for now. I felt like I was already losing my mind so I asked my husband to let me stop looking for some time before I lose the last string of sanity I have. I'll resume next year. I just can't anymore right now.

I will never understand why part time hiring is even allowed At the end of the day all employers expect you to be available full time and if you have another job you’re at risk of losing at least one
By design it appears sadly. The elites look at us as slaves. As long as the mega corps are doing well they could give a rats ass about the well being of the regular citizens. The dems will never admit we’re in a recession at the moment, and it’s only going to get far far worse once AI really blows up. Millions of people are going to be educated with college degrees that will have no use due to automation. Not to mention the MILLIONS of illegal immigrants pouring into our country, whom will probably end up willingly working at slave wages. It really feels like a deliberate attack on the middle class.
After getting laid off from my first full time job last April, it's been a struggle since. Although I've been getting interviews lately, I still fell short of a job offer. The competition is just unreal right now.
And it's not even about how great of a worker you are. Why should they hire a NOBODY that can do the job when they can hire someone's family member or friend that can do the job? And I get it....they want to hire people they know. Unless you are a pro programmer or doctor, dentist....some sort of specialist where they NEED you, you're gonna have a hard time finding those brainless jobs that anyone can do.
Yea man. You and me. I was laid off January last year. And I’m still in the market looking for a full time job. I’ve never had to go over a year without a new job or offer. It’s completely different today May24’. It’s starting to frustrate me. Cuz they say “when you have a job, it’s easier to get a new job.” Lies!!!’ I feel your pain man…. I hope you find something soon!
@@lopezbiglos start looking at your local temp agency. I did that when I was out of a job April of 23. Best decision I made during that time. I would still probably be on linkedin or indeed wasting my time if I did not do that.
20+ years in software engineering and haven’t had a single response to over 100 applications. Used to take 1 month to find a new job. The market is weird right now.
Over 1000 from me. Lots of interviews but would’ve preferred no interviews compared to some of the horrible interviews I’ve had. They used to be nice. Not anymore.
@@GameFuMaster same. I worked at some big names in both casino and health insurance sector. Before covid, I had an almost 100% successful response rate on applications. Of the interviews, I got offers 90% of the time with “we cant afford you” usually making up the other 10%. After covid, it is the opposite. In fact, I even gimped my resume by cutting off half my experience to apply for mid level jobs and still no responses.
This video really resonated with me because I was also a QA engineer who was laid off. It took me an entire year to land a new gig. I knew that the opportunity cost would be too great if I spent 40+ hours/wk working at a restaurant, so I decided to go part-time while searching for a job in my downtime. It was extremely stressful because I thought that by month 3 or 4 that I'd find the perfect role... It's tough out there, but you 1000% need to network both in-person as well as online vs LinkedIn. Definitely make sure you get referrals and make sure your resume matches all of the keywords (i.e. technologies, methodologies, actionable words, and coding languages).
If an application requires a previous salary, i always put 0.00 because it is none of their business how much previois employers have paid me and as you mentioned, they will use it against me. I wish more people knew this information
If you’ve filled out an application, gave them personal info like social security number then it might not matter. There’s a database that has some of that information….like salary
Applied to 600 jobs in the past 3 weeks. Literally applying to every job that comes out in my area + remote + relocation. Update: I found a job that pays me 50% more than my last!
Bro it’s crazy that even if you interview with flying colors and are a great fit, they will hire someone more malleable and less inspired. I’ve seen it happen at every institution I’ve switched to for last year over 5times. Hiring a younger, less educated, less motivated individual and some them didn’t last longer than three months there either. Crazy
@EntertainingEconomistLLC before I got about 3 interviews. Now, after adjusting my resume and adding cover letters, I have 7 coming up next week. I took what he said in the video and started looking up the websites for specific companies, unis, orgs, and local gov't then applied.
Good luck to you but I'd recommended applying in your local market only. AI is probably filtering you out based on that. If it's not, the recruiter will prefer candidates in their market that have local connections.
If you are in college now, please understand that you are not there to get an education. You are there to develop a network of people you know and alumni who can help you with these kinds of things
Same with the first job you do get - view it as further learning and networking and take it all in! It’s always been about networking, that’s never really changed but I think college brochures started selling kids another idea unfortunately.
@@kaylachristenson9664 yeah I think the idealistic version of college that gets sold to a lot of us is that you learn useful skills for your career and your merit matter when you get to the workplace. The fact that I have a sociology degree and failed to learn that is not lost on me 😅
@@mattvarner5825 it’s so true, but I think as the cost of college has increased and it has become so much more expected it does feel predatory in a lot of ways. Like merit matters but someone liking you or seeing you as having value matters more it’s just yeah kind of a harsh reality after a few years of so much idealistic thinking
This is probably the best advice people can hear. The best strategy is to ALWAYS be applying, ALWAYS be looking for new opportunities, and be learning new skills. You don't have to buy a course or take every job you get an interview to, or even take the interview if you get one, but you should have the option in case anything happens.
@@AlexMourning5635 I am not sure how many of those jobs have increased, but you can create a filter so you can only view the kind of jobs that you want. I really don't want to be defeatist, but what's the point anymore? Something's got to give, and I don't think that's going to be pretty. I get phone screenings, then ghosted, then see the same job I applied for posted right back up. I just want to stay home with my pets and make inspiring art or just enjoy things others make, man. I'm not built for hustle culture and cut-throat gig economies that we seem to be heading for. This world just burns me out until I have nothing left to give. I'm so tired.
In the same boat. I have NO interest in this endless competitive grind. I've grinded in video games enough to know, that it's not worth it once you get the thing you wanted. Be it huge amounts of money, or different partners or piles of stuff that I don't need...or status.
Maybe we have to learn to grow our own food, build tiny homes and learn krya yoga and fasting if we want to survive this corporate takeover of the worlds resources.
This ghosting trend has reached meteoric levels. I have a solid resume and interview really well, but what I have experienced lately is bizarre. I've had several interviews that exceeded the one hour time slot by like thirty + minutes because the hiring manager thought we had such a great connection. I'm referring to hiring managers appearing so laid back that they began talking about their hobbies, passions, and things we have in common. Next steps were followed up the "you'll definitely be hearing from me next week for a face to face meeting, etc." Next week comes around and all I get is complete radio silence! Not even an email response from the hiring manager or the recruiter. Everything goes to voice mail right away. I feel sorry for people in between jobs who need to pay bills. My situation is different because I have some serious bank with zero bills on my plate, so I can play this game for a long time.
Damn it feels better to see I'm not the only one this is happening to, that's happened to me 3 times in the last few months and I always see the position reposted on LinkedIn in the following days
@@rileyschroeder8560 So, I applied for a position on LinkedIn two weeks ago and I happen to know one of the higher ups in the sales department within the company. It's ridiculous. Employers constantly complain that no one wants to work anymore...Yet I'm right fucking here. Ready to work right now.
I'm in the same boat. Laid off in March and have put out tons of applications with most of them coming back to me with a "We have found another candidate" or "This position is not a good fit for you." with no interview, no interaction, nothing. It's incredibly frustrating.
Referrals. Son applied for 7 jobs at 2 companies in November. Engineering. Received two interviews. No offer. A couple weeks later he received a request to interview for a job he never applied for at one of the companies. OK. Interviewed. Seemed like a great interview. Unofficial offered the job the day after the interview. Official offer came a week later after HR approved. The job was with a company he had his summer internship with. His internship manager knew the interviewing manager. Hope that helps someone out there. Good luck to all.
The middle has been hallowed out. Once you hit a certain level of expertise (and therefore money), they get rid of you to hire a new 20-something who will work ridiculously long hours for cheap. A lot of small to medium firms (which is a huge bulk of employers) are basically the owner/a handful of senior management and a bunch of entry level people doing what used to be skilled, mid to senior level work. Also, living in the USA, globalization is against you. I used to do the digital nomad thing, so I could give competitive rates and get jobs from all over the world. I had to move back to the USA, and unfortunately, very few countries pay rates that will lead to even living a middle class/working class life, so you are forced to only pitch to USA, but the USA is outsourcing these jobs to people overseas.
@@sammiesmith3454 Here's the secret: Apply for low-paid internships, while being subsidized by the Bankd of Mom and Dad. I really appreciate this video. Currently severely underemployed and underpaid - at a contractor for a governmental agency nonetheless - as a temp, 6mo in with no prospect of a permanent role or benefits. Needless to day my last day is the end of this month because…..THE OPPORTUNITY COST! Every single time I mention it to the people who believe “some job is better than no job,” they just don’t get it. I could be at home really focusing on networking and tailoring my resume for the roles that fit my skillset as opposed to doing this menial, intern-level tasking I currently do, to make $400/week. Hell, I could be delivering food or groceries for less hours a day and make the same or more. It is ridiculous but I’m going to send them this video in response now because I am sick of it. All of it.
I've been right at home for 6mo. Can I get a job at Walmart? Maybe, sure. Can I work at McDonald's? Maybe, sure. But if the job I just lost for $21 didn't do it, how can I work for $16? When I apply for basic entry level stuff, I don't get it bc I'm over qualified. So I'm overqualified for basic entry level but not good enough for regular work where does it leave us??
@@Unknown-jt1jo it depends on how you look at it. 3 interviews out of 500 applications is less than a percent (0.6%). So while you aren't technically wrong. It still feels like a hell of a lot of luck.
I've genuinely poured my heart into finding work and I can't. I have over ten years of experience in my field, am very easy to work with, and no criminal background. Same, myself and so many ppl I know are working in the food business to get by right now and are absolutely miserable doing it. Under paid, over worked, and smelling like food.
Another statistic in play is that a number of people are working two jobs to make ends meet. Which means that an unemployed person is not just competing with other unemployed people, or people looking to leave their job, but are also competing with people who are considered employed and are planning on keeping their current job.
Not only is it impossible to get a job, it’s almost impossible to find one that will pay you enough to buy a damn house! If you’re not a scientist, doctor, engineer, or in finance then you can say goodbye to buying a house

I once tried to work at a store and was told that there were no positions, but the clerk who was Indian gave it to another Indian who asked for a job. Not all businesses are like this but a lot of times I noticed that once one ethnicity is in the door, they only refer their own friends and family, until the whole staff is one ethnicity, in my case, Indian.
I wanted to work at a boba tea shop or at least try my luck. My mom took one look at the workers there and she saw they were all Korean and immediately let me know I have no chance. They hire their own. The Indians who work together will NOT hire you. Sometimes it’s their own family members/relatives

Unemployment only counts people getting unemployment benefits. Once you use up your unemployment benefits in 6mo or whatever, you’re no longer counted. Pretty sure there’s a fair amount of people that fall into this category.
That is simply not true. I don't know why people keep saying that nonsense. The video explained who gets counted. They count people who don't have a job and who are seeking work.
@@FreedomTalkMedia how are they tracking that? I lost my unemployment benefits months ago and I no longer report my employment/job search status anymore. When I qualified for unemployment, the questionnaire specifically asks if I was able to work/looking for work/etc but now they have no idea if I’m searching still, not searching, or employed.
Here -- This is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics Website and how they define if someone is unemployed. They conduce a survey and look for certain criteria. Notice it does not mention unemployment insurance: In the Current Population Survey, people are classified as unemployed if they meet all of the following criteria: They were not employed during the survey reference week. They were available for work during the survey reference week, except for temporary illness. They made at least one specific, active effort to find a job during the 4-week period ending with the survey reference week (see active job search methods) OR they were temporarily laid off and expecting to be recalled to their job.

1. It's sad that applying for jobs today is more about placating an HR minion rather than conveying skills and experience. The reality is that no one is going to read your resume. It will be scanned and software will compare key words to determine your fit. HR people know zero about your skills and abilities. 2. HR people are lazy. Many companies now require you go to their website and retype in your whole resume so that HR can skip the scanning step and get back to texting their friends. 3. Recent articles show that companies are putting out fake job ads (in order to look like they are growing to attract investors). 4. Most jobs today don't even cover the cost of rent and it's not getting better. I am seriously considering moving overseas and living off my investments. There are several countries where you can live like a king on $1200-1400 per month, taxes and crime are low, and people speak English. The Island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean is at the top of my list.
Been unemployed for almost a year and I can barely survive anymore, I keep trying to find work and do everything I can possibly do to support myself and I’m getting more depressed
Do you honestly think a real person working at a specific company will be happy to refer any random 4th degree LinkedIn contact of theirs to their employer? I would not feel comfortable doing this, just because I share a love for pineapple pizza with them …..
In a crappy economy, people with PhDs start applying and taking jobs that requires a masters degree. People with a masters start taking jobs that requires a bachelor. Bachelor takes Associates. Associates takes high school diploma. High school diploma takes...... Hey, you wanna be a janitor? Gonna need a bachelors with 15 years of experience.
Yeah and it's like how many people that are fresh out of college and haven't been able to get a job receive unemployment? Idk if that's even possible, and those people wouldn't be counted at all towards the unemployment rate because of it, and many people that are having issues getting a job today are those very people, so go figure.

Something he doesn't mention while he's peddling PRODUCTS are the discriminatory hiring practices of these companies, their lobbying to move jobs outside the US, the tax incentives they get for hiring foreigners, the H1-B, J1, etc visa scams and that posting (fake) job listings also serves to meet Labor Dept requirements.
This is not entirely true. This is mainly true for very large companies that receive thousands of resumes per post. The large majority of companies have a traditional ATS with a recruiter/sourcer reviewing resumes.
@@ash5864 Do you have a source for the specific claim that a majority or more of employers using ATS have a human reviewer? Because I'd like to read it if so
@boonsaplenty3924 I've been a recruiter for 10 years. ATS don't have the capacity to reject candidates unless there are qualifying questions on the application. If not, its a human that has to trigger a rejection email being sent. We are able to search for keywords to find matches. But we still have to read the resume to reject. I have used the major ats.

I’m pretty sure I’ve applied to well over 200+ jobs at this point and it’s very frustrating and stressful to the point where I’m losing sleep over it. I feel like I’m just surviving on auto pilot and not truly living and being happy…
This is why I will NEVER again work for anyone else but ME. These companies expect me to be loyal to them while they do that? I am so glad I am working on my goals and not someone else’s.
They love to lay you off right after you sign a lease. And then tell you they’re only laying people off because they “overhired”. Those people have a special place in hell.
Employers are very picky about hiring the absolute right people to fill their openings. Instead of getting a list of 500 for an entry level position and hiring one, the employers continue with the process even if it gets to 5,000 candidates to fill the one opening.😂 plus, they are using outside recruiters too!😬
Its been a year and a half and I'm so tired of applying.. I just cant do it anymore... I ask "are yall hiring?" and the employees just laugh at me.. :( Im so tired.
Been unemployed since 2021. Over 1000 applications, three interviews, and no offer in three years even with over 10 years experience…it’s hell out here.
I was unemployed for 9 months and finally got a 3 month contract paying $45 an hour which stopped the bleeding but guess what… my contract is over at the end of this month so back to square one😅
I'm a QA engineer and deployment administrator for a games company (yay hybrid role) and job hunting right now. It's a fucking nightmare job hunting. 50 years ago you had to be able to breathe to be hired, these days you need a degree, 5 years of work experience and be willing to be paid pennies to flip pre cooked burgers only for the business owners nephew to get the job. The only reason I'm at my job is because i started as a temp doing a job a trained monkey could do and proved that it was beneficial for me to stick around. Companies are just greedy these days, they don't want to train new staff, they want a unicorn who knows how their shit works better than they do and underpay for it. Oh and just want to add that I'm still seeing ads for jobs that i saw over a year ago
I had higher success getting interviews for mid level position with almost 2 years of experience that I did have for fcking JUNIOR position. It's a fcking COMEDY
Geek Squad is entry level, and while they prefer previous experience or education, it isn't required. I got in with nothing but a high school diploma and am going on 5 years with them now.
my brother found a job fast by being friends around people with that area he started by working in person office by then he met his another friend’s acquaintance has a job online work from home he stayed in the office till he got the online.
It should be illegal to post jobs if you do not intend to hire. it should also be illegal to ignore applications. if there are too many people to interview you need to take the posting down.
I quit my last role after I received retaliation from managers who didn’t like that I refused to do something illegal. Now I understand the quote “no good deed goes unpunished”. 😩
I know places that have sexual harassment or managers praying on women, but the employer trying to use it I even though they’re being sued they just pay with insurance or try to get lawyers to defend the employee. There are other people in the office who are bullies, other managers to gang up on people together and create an extremely toxic work environment, and then they themselves go and complain about the workplace and complain about the employers meanwhile, the other one who makes the workplace, intolerable and toxic.
no joke! i'm graduating with a 4.5 GPA (out of 5) into a potentially bad economy in SG and I AM STRUGGLING! I only have 1 offer and most of my friends can't even land any interviews!
❤ this video. Finding a job is hard. If you apply for a job and there’re 100 applicants. My odds are 1%. I will get that job when I first apply. Then the company could interview five people and my odds are one out of five then there’s two finalists and now my are 50%. Somebody said once that when you apply for a job you are at the right place at the right time.
Nah. Odds are absolutely always low. Scored 100/100 for their technical assessment skills test and still got rejected :) That's not my first time either
If I look at a job listing on LinkedIn and see more than 100 other applicants, I don't waste my time unless I desperately want to work for that company
Any company that would ghost me would never get a second chance from me. They would be off my list permanently. If everyone did that, job ghosting would end.
It wouldn't. Some people would cheat and talk to the ghosting companies anyway. And then they'd get the jobs, because there'd be very few other applicants. Any solution that relies on solidarity is doomed to failure.
I'm almost 25 years old, I graduated from college with honors, a 3.8 GPA. I got a degree in technology, I did everything I was told to do and at 25 I work as a part time Janitor at a supermarket. I have over 10K in student loans, and I currently live with my Mother. I am depressed and I don't know what to do anymore. I look at all these entry level jobs that demand 3-4 years of experience in a variety of skills I don't have. I am truly stumped, I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I don't know what certificates to get or even if they matter, I don't know if I should go back to college, I don't know anymore. I've been searching for 2 years, I've gotten maybe 5-6 interviews and half of them were scams.
Where are you from ? The market is really horrible right now, it's even worse in 3rd world country. The friend of mine even work as restaurant server for a living although he is graduated from science major. Sadly nowadays the easiest way to get better job is nepotism and not skills.
It’s time to look as good as you can, ask someone from the next generation to rewrite your resume, learn the right buzzword translation and lie about your age. The kids do this too but in reverse.

Was watching this video feeling horrible that I couldn’t find a job, then at 8:06 of the video I got a call back from a job I applied for. Wish me luck guys
For those who are searching job in the IT tech sector, I recommend this: 1. Try to understand what are the needs of customers and companies. 2. Start in small companies or lower position. 3. Create contacts. 4. Know yourself. 5. Be patient. 6. Focus on fewer technologies. 7. Make some project/s.
Just finally got two offers after sending out multiple applications where I was getting ghosted in the process. Had at least 4-5 recruiters admit to me the position didn’t even exist, was on hold, just wanted to test out the job platform(and didn’t remove it until hundreds of people applied)they just didn’t bother to update the website, and that it was a backup role in the event a current employee quits….
I'm 40 and I am terrified of getting fired because of how bad the job market is. I would likely have to pick up 2 part time jobs busting my ass i nthe kitchen or washing dishes and I still would be making less than I would as a guard of 11 years.
I have never had a hard time finding a job. I applied at maybe 10 jobs in the past 2 weeks. I got called back alot but never went any further than that into the next step. I am a tradesmen, welder to be exact. I have had 4 different contractors call me and all of them I agreed that I would take the jobs they offer since they pay well. SO far its been a whole week. Usually by now I have a weld test already setup and already passed. But 2 weeks they barely called back saying the company they were contracting me for was putting welder positions on "hold" whatever that means. So they offered to send my info to another company for the same pay and area and same kind of work. And its been already 2 days plus the weekend. Hopefully I can hear back this week otherwise I am going to have to resort to working retail jobs again and apply at Target or something because I need to start working again and making money.
@@Spooky_Gregg ty yes they called me today and I have a weld test tomorrow hopefully I can get some work for a couple months or until I find something more permanent.
@@dissidentpriest381 hell yeah.. I tell you what, blue collar is definitely getting hit pretty hard. I have a couple friends that do HVAC, plumbing, etc and their hours are getting cut, some are getting laid off permanently and loosing contracts. Unfortunately, I believe all sectors will be hit from this turmoil were all in.
@@Spooky_Gregg i started working with electricians under a contractor that builds gas stations and big warehouses for buisnesses and car shops. my hours are in the toilet and my job is drying up, being the newest, im gonna get cut. im 20 and starting to give up on the trades, i know the money is there but the trades are also the first to feel how the economy is doing. even then i want to get out of the heat and into something more mentally stimulating. its fun and especially coworkers but i had enough. im concerned ill never find a job elsewhere tho, even if i went to college
Now you understand so called “quite quitting”. Doing the work of one and half people or even two makes the job market worst. Working your agreed salaried hours successfully should be called “right working” or “value matching”.
I like it as 'act your wage'. Also, toxic productivity is a thing- depending on your job, processing too much work at once can actually cause slow downs and problems for other team members. Depending on your job position, it can be massively unhealthy for you, and bad for all your coworkers.
There is an additional possibility about posted jobs that aren't really available. I interviewed for a university job as the result of a suggestion of a friend/colleague who was familiar with the kind of work the hiring person needed, and I was an obvious fit. When I was interviewed, I was told they would have to post the job to fulfill a statutory requirement that it was sufficiently advertised, although I was told they doubted they would find anyone else with my particular qualifications. It turned out that no one applied, and so I had the job. My point is that it is possible a person may essentially have been already selected for the job, and the posting is mostly a required formality.
Vincent: I got a 5 step job launch process. Me: Ok, I'm willing to do just about anything. Let's hear it. Vincent: So get on LinkedIn and contact people you knew... Me: Ohhh, that's a "no can do" chief. I'm WAY too ashamed of myself to contact people that I used to know.
In case it helps, I've got it through luck and connections. It seems that that's the best way to actually get a job nowadays. I asked a friend of a friend to help me out and now I can actually afford to buy food
@user-tt8lf3fv1y Over the course of 6 months it sent to 30 locations in total. And during those 6 months I kept resending applications as well. I've applied to more than 1 position at the same location too. Every week I'd try to get at least 3 or 4 positions applied for. Grocery stores mostly, then some fast food and some clothing stores. Sorry I wasn't too specific, I don't blame you
All I'm hearing is that because I don't know anyone and can't afford college, I'm fucked. Most of the jobs I apply for wont be available, my resume is beholdent to a horridly designed algorithym, and I have near zero chance of getting hired because I don't have connections.
I was set up for failure and terminated by my last supervisor so she could give the job to one of her friends, I later saw her profile on LinkedIn which is all about networking and contacts. All about knowing someone.
Imo, another problem that can apply to someone finding a job is if people are neurodivergent, disabled (but not enough to file for disability care/funding), and/or have mental health struggles, then they're way more likely to have trouble finding (and keeping) a job the most. It also doesn't help that some programs that are available (like most Department of Rehab centers) tend to be hands-off, underfunded, and/or too unequipped to help some people with finding a job. If finding a job is already hell for neurotypical and abled people, then it provides even more discouraging for a lot of us that need the extra help... 0_0
You said it. Getting a job is dependent upon knowing people, but autists like me don't know anyone! And trying to pull this shit where you connect with random people and message them to try to get a job is physically painful.
I called one place to express interest in working there after I submitted an application but I was flat out told by the person on the line "We aren't hiring but we have the posting out in case we need someone later."
This is why when there is work you hustle 7 days, when it's slow you live off savings and do your tasks you needed done but didn't have the time. "FU" money is power. I learned the hardships of finding work when I was a teenager at 16 looking for part time summer work, it took about 7 places I applied to until I got work as a dishwsher. Now I'm a regional intermodal truck driver in So-cal.
yeah, until you get asked in an interview why you’re interviewing for a higher paying job when you’re working a lower paying job. 99.99% likely you’ll remain in the lower paying job forever.
My advice to people is to get a degree or trade school certification in a field that’s actually in dire need of people. The college for all movement rushed everyone to college and have unfortunately made a lot of overqualified workers with not enough positions. For fields in need, do you research. Trade is ALWAYS in need of people right now. Personally, I know my field (Hydrogeology) has so many empty positions that there’s kind of a crisis. If you’re interested in groundwater modeling and testing groundwater quality you may love my field! Entry level positions are starting at 70K but they go up fast and the empty positions have made promotions fast as well.
I was pushed into college too luckily it worked out but only after a masters degree my bachelors was useless. Even now though im underemployed making much less than you described on a contract basis
that’s highly regional, unfortunately. with the amount of young men going into the trades it’s becoming much more competitive. there’s a limited amount of apprenticeships, like with medical residencies. some oldhead tradesmen refuse to train a load of new apprentices since that would water down their pay.

Ghost jobs should be illegal. Very demoralizing for job seekers.

False advertising used to be a thing

I sooo agree about the no one wanna training anymore most of us ARE hands on
That’s the problem, seeing most vacancy ads stating that experience in a similar role is a must just shows that no one wants to take the burden of helping someone start their career. I completed my studies early this year and have a professional membership but I’m constantly being rejected for jobs due to only having voluntary experience in the field. By now I could be fully trained and competent but I’m still applying for jobs and having them all waste my time.

There's a lot of kids out there (like me) that were really "good at school" but never got that understanding of how important social dynamics are to your potential opportunities. The fact that I have a sociology degree and failed to learn that is not lost on me 😅
@@mattvarner5825 it’s so true, but I think as the cost of college has increased and it has become so much more expected it does feel predatory in a lot of ways. It really is about the education and the networking but it can be hard to do those when you may be working a lot and stressed about loans.
Like merit matters but someone liking you or seeing you as having value matters more it’s just yeah kind of a harsh reality after a few years of so much idealistic thinking

Yes, because they think they can manipulate you easier. In that case they have all the chances to win and no negotiation.
This is probably the best advice people can hear. The best strategy is to ALWAYS be applying, ALWAYS be looking for new opportunities, and be learning new skills.

They were available for work during the survey reference week, except for temporary illness.

Move.
Change to medical field.
If you’re struggling this much in tech when young, only gonna get worse.

4 months out of work - my age and how I look is what’s happening. As soon as I get on a Zoom call it’s over.
It’s time to look as good as you can, ask someone from the next generation to rewrite your resume, learn the right buzzword translation and lie about your age.
The kids do this too but in reverse.
You may want to consider removing some of the old jobs from your work experience/history on your resume to avoid your age exposure.
@@namedrop721you don’t think she’s already doing that? Have some freaking respect you guys. I’m sure she’s smart and doing all she can. You people need to learn to listen and respect people.
@@1234kingconan They're offering advice. Maybe she's already doing this stuff, but maybe not. Empathy is great, but it doesn't get you a job.
Tired of these companies we need to come together and go on strike
Was watching this video feeling horrible that I couldn’t find a job, then at 8:06 of the video I got a call back from a job I applied for. Wish me luck guys
The problem is - aside all that you mentioned - referrals don't work. Most people just don't bother with replying.
For those who are searching job in the IT tech sector, I recommend this:
1. Try to understand what are the needs of customers and companies.
2. Start in small companies or lower position.
3. Create contacts.
4. Know yourself.
5. Be patient.
6. Focus on fewer technologies.
7. Make some project/s.
Yeah that’s bare minimum, tbh. At this point my advice is “get creative or get lucky”
Thanks for your suggestion
I can’t do number five lol
I'm assuming to say, blue collar getting hit hard as well? I've been through that situation. I hope you get a call back
@@Spooky_Gregg ty yes they called me today and I have a weld test tomorrow hopefully I can get some work for a couple months or until I find something more permanent.
@@dissidentpriest381 - Hey, please give a floolowup. PRAISE JESUS!!!
You can't get the job because you don't have the experience. You can't get the work experience because you can't get the job. It's catch 22
6 months strong with 30 jobs declined. Still powering through and hopefully finally get one. Still sending out to the same spots as well 😮💨
IT GETS BETTER EVERYONE! After 7 months I have finally landed a job. It's fast food but it's better than nothing
All about knowing someone.
spells out "the land of opportunity" pretty well.
Ive been looking for a job for the past 5 months now, i have 3 years experience in my current job field, its INSANE
Nobody is doing anything about this
It's amazing the propaganda this government is feeding us regarding the economy and jobs.
Screw LinkedIn, it's more if a pompous social club than an actual psychological asset for career searching.
Yep, and if you're not in the club you're fucked.
Even now though im underemployed making much less than you described on a contract basis
that’s highly regional, unfortunately. with the amount of young men going into the trades it’s becoming much more competitive. there’s a limited amount of apprenticeships, like with medical residencies. some oldhead tradesmen refuse to train a load of new apprentices since that would water down their pay.
nuh. nuh uh. trades are full. those roles are not hiring right now. please edit your description- thank you!!
Gen X here and I know your pain. Prayers to all 🙏🏿
